Thanks for sharing this. I know it's a bit old and probably outdated by now, but it's nice to know there's so much effort being put into making this expansion good. I hope Blizzard leaves them alone and it continues to thrive. I was always a Horde player, so starting over fresh on an Alliance toon is refreshing. It's also really cool how they made the High Elves part of the gang, with all new zones and quests. The really cool thing that I like about TurtleWoW is the radio. Yes. They have a Fallout style radio.. and it's great. Goes SOOO good with questing and adds a layer of humor that I haven't experienced since TBC in the Barrens.
Going to be making this my main character's spec and appreciate someone going through the trouble to explain it all to me in a thorough way! Thank you!
You earned a sub Rof. I mained a prot pally in actual vanilla and Turtle is my first private server. Been looking for something like this for a while now. I’d love to see an in depth gearing video for the various tiers. Pre raid, T1 T2 etc… Keep up the good work.
I never had more fun gearing a character than I did gearing out a prot paladin in TBC classic through heroics. Every piece of gear felt like a distinct choice; threat or mitigation? and you balanced those priorities all the way through. I've always kind of hated the "equip the item with the bigger number" gearing experience that newer versions of wow had. Turtlewow's changes to the paladin seem marvelous, and with a few changes to gear as you suggest they could become one of the coolest tanking classes.
Instead of making the 2 dif sets of gear they could just do more work into prot sec(kinda like you said earlier) giving more armor and defense stats from points put into toughness and anticipation while also changing the damage done from One'handed to help with better threat. Also a BIG thing that would go further for paladins and cause Crusader strike to do holy damage and scale a bit. Actually biggest thing they could do for pally threat was just take Righteous fury and make it do threat for ALL damage done that way they do not unbalance damage done by paladins for pvp reasons also
Very nice to teach new players how to tank but would have loved a 2h tanking explanation nd a trinkets explanation like the ZG one and ToEp both used up to naxx Also talking a bit more of using stuff like a 5set piece nd using the rest of the items with mitigation like helm of domination (aq20 drop nd bis mitigation) In general a more in depth guide cuz u did talked about some of the stuff i mentionated but like u said for the sake of the video not being very long u didnt would love to see you making a long indepth guide in tanking very very underrated thing in twow and a lot of people clueless on how to do it properly cuz its a whole other world to vanilla tanking here
What an incredibly well researched and edited video! There's so much useful information and it's all so well explained! Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge ☺️❤
Great video man (it's Tarane)! TWoW made prot paladin slightly more viable, and you took that to the limit. I agree with your wishes for future changes.
On turtle, I think the paladin int to spell crit ratio is much lower. I think its something like 24 iirc. If im wrong, feel free to tell me. Great video, thx for the work for the spreadsheet u made.
are you sure Crusader trike can proc effects? through my very thorough testing, i havent been able to proc any weapon effect, weapon enchant or anything off of crusader strike. or did they change that`?
This will sound crazy, but what If the last prot talent was a "crusader grip" type talent. Where you can hold a 2 handed weapon in 1 hand with a shield in the other. Alot of the 2 handed weapons in classic have no competition and have weird stats. Also 2 handers have more stats, eliminating the need for a stamina buff
Hearing that holy strike scales off of both AP and SP, and that crusader strike procs weapon effects (including SoR which also procs weapon effects), but shamans stormstrike just has a reduced cooldown makes me sad
Great video! I do have a couple of questions. If you use both crimson spellblade and fiery gauntlets are they applied seperately or do they stack? in addition I have noticed that wisdom is also triggerd by chance on hit items, normally this ofcourse would not be a big thing. But the chopper sword (mechanized bone-chopper if i'm correct) has a chance on hit to apply 20 damage. Not much but this triggers I think 90% if not 100%. I assume together with fiery gauntlets this would stack as 2 seperate damages so you can even get more crazy with the procs, do you know this/have experience with it?
on hit effects do stack, for every on hit item you gain 2 chances at wisdom proccing, and the bone chopper is 50% chance iirc and almost all wep procs can proc wisdom, but for pure mana you might aswell use crimson spellblade over bone chopper since it has 100% chance to "proc" and a better threat wep over bone chopper, but early on while pre raid bone chopper is still a good option
Hey! I'm new to Turtle Wow, and decided to pick prot paladin, and I'm glad I found your channel. I am duo leveling with a friend (holy paladin). What build would you suggest during leveling/5man tanking? Threat spec or mitigation spec?
i normally suggest leveling in an aoe spec set up so you can heal yourself but as long as you have a healer you're good to go in whatever spec you choose
I have a question, if I have multiple items that proc on hit (I just got the electric ring from Gilneas dungeon, am planning to go for sword in stratholme next), does each individual proc have a chance to trigger judgment of wisdom? Thanks, great content!
Love the guide! How did you manage to get dpsmate to work? Even after following the instructions to the letter its not parsing some of the members in my raid or registers peoples decurses/dispels.
i just use my old one from k3 like 5 years ago, but due to how the vanilla client works unless everyone gets the same one and uses the sync function no meter will be correct
i have 2 buff addons, elkano buff bar which does my debuffs and buffs in a single bar at the top and buffalo which i disabled the buffs and put the debuffs next to my player frame
I'm not sure when Turtle WoW added the weapon "Fishbringer" but it is similar to your weapon. If you're interested look up "Turtle WoW, There is no cow level" P.S. the Fishbringer is 100% ment for Prot Paladins, and in my opinion a strong weapon for Holy Paladins wearing a spell power set and a Libram in the off hand. Sort of a PVE Shock-adin.
fishbringer is really not like the wep i suggested at all, it has no spell power at all and has really low damage, the speed is also too slow for HS causing a lot of downtime, fishbringer is on my sheet and you can see exactly where it stands in terms of threat
Amazing video, amazing guide. My only concern is that (once again) paladins have to resort to mass buffing to maintain threat - something that imho belies the shitty design of the original game and that should be addressed in TWoW (and perhaps SoD)
yes its really good infact, but i would probably suggest just getting into mc and get t1 instead, mc is really easy and it takes a ton of time and gold to get dungeon set 2

My ingame one will... like it spams +59 mana everwhere, but with miks... it will show a few +118's, but only if I've changed seals recently.... then it just stops sending them I do have the "Show All mana Gains" option enabled.
this is still the latest, but the state the game is in right now is probably the highest ap will ever be favored for prot again, its more likely with class changes 2 to even more heavily favor sp in the future
no, like not even close, JoW is 59 mana per proc and is like base 50% proc rate while the mara one is prob closer to 10% or lower and spell blade literally doubles the proc chance of JoW on autos
its yet to be seen, threat will probably see a drop as they are nerfing some CS stacking items but they havent listed all the new gear they are adding but leaks show that there is atleast some prot paladin focused gear
+ a subscriber, I don't play with pally tank but I found the perfect guide to be very well done and explained congratulations ..If you have time, you can make a video with macros for paladins in this version of turtle, I already tried using macros, but few that I create really work, it makes me sad to try to play with other specs... for debuffs on you i suggest something like buffalo, for debuffs you apply to something try modified power auras, think weak auras but older and not as good
Why dont u get FLAT 10% more damage when u use 1 handed weapon in talents? Strenght in classic wow gives more amount of block dmg you reduced when u block too.
you only get 10% more damage from the wep not from spells or abilities and the block from str in vanilla is negligible it takes 20 str to block a single point of damage

one handed spec doesnt increase all damage it only increases damage from the one hander, this is a changes i mentioned at the end of the video that should be done and is also a change that did happen in tbc, also the spec with points in holy is a pure miti spec meant to last as long as possible when threat is not an issue, thus sustaining your mana i thought was more important than barely any more threat, either way the miti spec isnt all that useful and i dont even spec into it anymore
I think turtle WoW benefits a lot from having someone so knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge.
