    He is wrong in saying if you have material higher that 3or 4 inches you have to use a bandsaw bullshit if the material is 7 or 8 inches you can turn the material over and run it through the table saw!!

    I cringed every time I saw his arm or wrist above the blade at the end of the cut.
    Also this thing would be useless on an older saw with a splitter instead of a riving knife.
    Pretty expensive too for plastic.

    • @Microjig
      @Microjig  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are sorry you feel this way. Pre-assembling the GRR-RIPPER would make it cost more, and the box would also need to be larger using more resources to store and ship.
      Even Large, far more expensive tools (like table saws) require assembly.
      Also, by assembling your GRR-RIPPER, you have a better understanding of how it goes together than how it works.

      You didn’t pay $100 for a piece of plastic. You payed $20 for operational cost, $60 for intellectual property, $10 for small scale manufacturing, $7 for plastic, and $3 because everyone in America’s unlikely to buy these in a ten-pack by the millions. Get a… grip?

I really like your products but safety tools and equipment should definitely be at a fair price. I honestly wish you would make them cheaper if you want to promote safety.

    I was able to use my Microjig Avanced for the first time today on my table saw after watching this awesome video, and the level of control compared to using a push stick is night and day, anxiety levels dropped dramatically, too. Fantastic product, I'm ordering a second for longer pieces. And thanks for the video, super helpful on multiple levels and the host did a great job. Just got a router table, too, so seeing this in use on that made my day.

    I see a lot of comments complaining about the price. And I get it. We all (me included) don't have unlimited funds. Honestly though, if this is the safest way to use a table saw, is it really that expensive when it will last forever and significantly decreases your chance of getting hurt? I don't have a table saw yet but when I get one, I will be getting this product. The price is worth it to save my digits and perhaps more.

    Let me preface my comment by saying I'm a finish carpenter of 32 years ( know what I'm doing), I bought the Gripper, I'm returning the Gripper, it's a piece of junk, even with strong down pressure and pushing motion at the same time on natural wood stock, it does not give the friction and adhesion you need to safely rip a 1x through the table saw, very disappointed in this product.

    I am always critical of the technical presentation of these shop gadgets but this fellow is spot on with this demonstration. No anxiou stuttering, false starts, and repeated words. He knows the tool inside and out and can walk and chew gum (and run the gadget) at the same time. Very well done. Those anticipating doing their own technical TH-cam Videos need to sit at this fellow's knee and learn a few things.

    Watching the piece of oak on the bandsaw it must not have went as planned on the first cut. The board was flipped over and cut a second time. I understand the need to stop and start videos, to cut and piece but you are selling a product and something went wrong. Curious if an explanation can be made without self incrimination? I like the idea but for the price of these items, there should be a little more clarity or invisibility to this.

    As others have said this is an awesome video and a great help to setting up the Grr-ripper and its accessories, far better than for me, than trying to follow instructions in a printed manual. The practical demonstrations create an appreciation of the Grr-ripper and its widespread potential use in the workshop. For me these explanations go a long way in justifying the cost of the Grr-ripper as you can begin to see how to use it to make work easier and safer across a number of woodwork machines. So many thanks to MicroJig for providing a brilliant educational video which I trust is a reflection of high quality customer service I can expect.

    Great...another device that removes critical thinking, from machine use. Listen, folks...any "pusher" that has a suitcase handle..is bad news.
    And, this one..."the gripper" is no exception. Yeah, it's a gripper alright...it'll grip your hand and fingers all the way to the exposed blade.
    Any shop tech worth his salt knows...this piece of plastic would last about 10min. in a working shop. The depth/height of cuts made in a shop environment would mill this thing into a hunk of garbage in only two adjustments of the fence.
    And, if your using a saw, and you're NOT in a working shop...STOP. you have no business around power tools. You're not a trained or skilled craftsman. You're a DIY'er that's going to get hurt.

    Awesome video. As someone just starting out, I wanted to watch as many videos on table saw safety as possible and the kickback vids started making me think twice about getting one. Seems to me this would be a no brainer and Im deff going to pick up a couple. Again, as someone just starting out, I have no idea if these are overpriced or not. After all I spent on my tools, to spend a couple hundred on protecting my fingers from getting chopped off doesn't seem bad. Going to start out with just two of them and hopefully the more I learn, I can find use for the accessories. Would like to make sure I need them first.

    • @Microjig
      @Microjig  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, adjust the height of your riving knife. Your Riving knife should have an adjustment position to set it in line with or just below the top of your blade. This is so you can make a groove cut that does not cut all the way through (like a shoulder cut) without removing the riving knife.

    Anyone with a table-saw already has the tool to make a pusher of any size shape or configuration desired. All of the "attachments" demonstrated here can be quickly knocked up from some scrap stock. especially sacrificial parts.
    I know someone has to have an idea first but this "type of device" ?shoe? is fairly logical and by no means original - ie a concreters wooden float with a sacrificial / gapped base..
    BTW encouraging people to lean far out over a running tablesaw blade is far-from safe, as is retrieving cut pieces from in front of the blade.. ( one should not encourage anyone to reach over or behind a running blade) Discouraging use of push sticks is merely aggressive marketing - being a woodworker, half of the fun is in making jigs and fixtures, this is basically a portable fixture. ( Well it isn't a jig)

  • @BobBlarneystone

    The presentation is clear and it appears to be a very good product. However, i have one comment that may or may not be important. The presenter is a tall man with a long arm's reach, and he's not standing on one foot when he's reaching behind the table saw blade and swinging the finished cut away. For some shorter operators this might not be a safe maneuver, especially if there is sawdust on the floor in front of the saw.

    • @bodgerdavesumner
      @bodgerdavesumner 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have just read that the saw table should be at or below, waist level. At 5 ft 6, mine, from the factory is just right. Dusty floor, on one foot, reaching beyond the blade are not acceptable. By having these hazards, you are transferring the danger from your thumbs & fingers to you wrists. You may pass out, before you can turn the machine off. Your comment IS IMPORTANT. Ensure that your table saw is the suitable height for you body size.

    The GRR-RIPPER directions say on page 12 to use 2 hands--one holding the handle, the other on the "main body". But I never see that stance being demonstrated--even in the MICROJIG videos they always seem to go one-handed. (Maybe I missed something?) I'd like to hear / see a little more about the recommended way to hold the thing that actually agrees with the manual.

    • @Microjig

      Well great, now we got to go and change all the manuals! LOL. Seriously, good eye, you actually read the instructions. To be honest, when I began with the GRR-RIPPER I used two hands often. But once you begin using a GRR-RIPPER in each hand, you get used to just holding the handle. Generally, holding the GRR-RIPPER only by the handle keeps your fingers well out of harm's way.

The packaging alone impressed me…the color codes for the bags, the fact that you gave us an extra washer for each type and that its soo easy to assemble. I love the o-rings…excellent idea and very helpful. I love you guys and Im so glad I bought these products. Thank you for your detail and thoughtfulness. "Let me show you what's wrong with push sticks..." (Proceeds to use push sticks incorrectly.)
    Come on. I own two grr-rippers, but incorrectly demonstrating push sticks is disingenuous and makes it look like you're a shill. Though, I should give the demonstrator the benefit of the doubt and assume he's just inexperienced: he should be pushing the piece closer to the blade than the fence.

    What went through your head to stop sponsoring Steve Ramsey? Also I bought a micro jig and almost never never use it, basically a push stick is fine!

    • @Microjig
      @Microjig  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's too bad you almost never use your GRR-RIPPER. It provides cleaner cuts than your push stick can. When used properly on a well set up saw, your rip cuts will show zero tool marks. And it is simply safer. You should be using it on your saw, router table, bandsaw and jointer as well. Anywhere a bit or blade wants to bite you.

    • @koolkid1234ism
      @koolkid1234ism ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Microjig it doesnt even grip well though. THats the thing, theres no heel so its all downward pressure which is dangerous, a simple push stick has a heel for forward pressure, making it better than your overpriced push stick
