    My mother-in-law treated me that way. Picked me apart because of my upbringing and said I wasn’t worthy or good enough for her son. Her son claimed to love me and I believed him. I spent 23 years chasing after him married to him but lonely and alone. They were a team against me. Now I’m trying to be strong and courageous and love myself. I wish I could have done that to her and him.

      Omgsh that's awful. Sometimes you learn the hard way... my ex was like this....I'm so sorry girl, it's so hard too because it sounds insane and nobody believes you. It's a really sick/toxic mother-son bond, it's almost like they are boyfriend and girlfriend but it is mother and son 🤮

      I'm so sorry.
      I know what you're talking about too.
      My ex and his mother were both lying, toxic, sneaky, two faced EVIL creatures!!!
      I didn't realize my Husband was just like her until it was too late.
      They teamed up and managed to ruin my life though. But I'm since remarried.

As an adult your childhood coping mechanism isn't sufficient naturally your hurting,anger, expression of emotions, and lashing out changes, therapy is a must to develop new coping mechanisms and resolve unresolved emotional and childhood traumas. Just in the last couple of yrs my way of lashing out my hurting have been so intense that it almost seems out of character, even I'm surprised I had it in my bottled up emotions, even the most calm and patience person in the room will eventually lash out when life becomes unbearable.

      @Ruby.D ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheOmegaAlfa Rachel offended Anne right to her face and then acted shocked when Anne reacted badly. It's a time when children are meant to be seen, not heard. But Anne made it clear that what Rachel said was an offense, not just a casual comment to Marilla, that her feelings were badly hurt - therefore she was having a completely understandable reaction -, and, in case Rachel still couldn't understand, asked her how SHE would feel if the situation was inverted - making her point solid: Rachel wouldn't like to be offended to her face, even if all of the things said were true, Rachel would feel hurt and react badly, so if Anne did it, she's right. Marilla, as you can see, somehow likes that Anne put Rachel in her place, because Rachel often makes these offensive comments right to Marilla's face, but she doesn't feel brave enough to confront her friend about it until much later. Anne didn't just offend Rachel back as revenge, she legitimately educated her on why offending people isn't nice.

    My great aunt Ana Maria (grandmother's sister) was an eccentric old lady who always wore all black, old fashioned clothing and hated everyone. Never married, no children. She despised my mother because she said she was too American (my mother's family is from Spain). As a little girl I remember being brought to her home and her speaking to me in Spanish and me speaking back hesitantly, as I was being brought up to speak English only and my Spanish was rudimentary. She snorted and told my grandmother that not only was I "homely but stupid as well - a terrible combination in a girl." She didn't know I understood Spanish a lot better than I spoke it. I was crushed. I knew that homely meant ugly even at the age of 5. Later in life I read Anne of Green Gables and couldn't believe this lady called her homely too. Anne was a hero to me when I was growing up and I read every book L.M. Montgomery ever featured her in.

      All fans of "Anne with an E" should look up British Home Children. There were over 100,000 children exported to the colonies from England as 'orphans'. Many still had both parents but were poor or troubled and England was actively engaged in class genocide. Upon arriving to the colonies, many were treated nearly like slaves. Some were abused and even killed by their adoptive 'parents' (owners). My Great Grandfather came to Canada this way. He was one of the lucky ones and went to a family that adopted him and let him go to school.

    My mom used to read me the Anne of Green Gables books a lot as a kid. As a ginger myself, she used to call me Carrots. She tried really hard to find books that had characters I resembled because I was one of the only gingers in my small town (still am). It helped a lot to make me feel less alienated and awkward about my appearance.

      Ugh I can't believe people treat red-heads with so much amusement and alienation. I think red-headed people are so ethereal and beautiful, not in the stereotypical beauty standard way but like UNIQUE and _inherently_ beautiful. The world is cruel to what they don't understand/aren't willing to expand their minds enough to see truth. We're ALL beautiful.

    My grandmother treated me like this. My parents told her that they were pregnant with me when my sister was 10 months old. She asked them why they would go and do that. Shouldn't they wait and let my sister be a baby? Then after I was born, I couldn't be or do anything right. I was too tall, too fat, too clumsy, too quiet, Every time she came over or we went to her house, I knew as soon as she saw me she would have some sort of criticism about the way I looked or what I had said. Of course I was quiet, I didn't want to give her any fuel!
