Just found your channel man. Love your vids so far, really love what you do. I appretiate your your teachings. Most these things i didnt know you could fix like this. Very cool thank you.
Hi, I have a Commodore 64 cartridge that I need to open up to clean - but the screws on the case are stuck - I forget if rusted or threads broke but couldn't get it open. Any advice?
The controller with the Pause mapped to the B button could have been used in a computer software to map it for an emulator and or Different control scheme would recommend getting an adapter and seeing if someone did switch the mapping around for the controller. Also amazing find on killer instinct.
for the NES, boil the 72 pin adapter for 10 minutes, then run 99% iso alcohol and after that put wd40 electrical connector cleaner.......then for the game, open it using a game bit , then use .0000 steel wool to rub the connectors, then use 99& iso alcohol to clean it and then wd-40 electrical connector clear on the connectors....will work flawlessly every time
A couple reasons. First, if possible id prefer to not make modifications if not necessary. Second, if I'm testing or cleaning a cartridge, i want to know that it should work on any working system, not just one with the lockout chip disabled.
i'm actually surprised you got a broken NES controller....those things typically never break! They were built to last. I found a controller laying out on a gravel road that had been run over several times and it still worked
GibbyScrooge always had issues with that cart. Seems like the board is slightly thinner, and the contacts need cleaning so it's not getting certain info
Unfortunately doesn't always work. Blinking red light is super common on NES systems, it almost always just means it's not getting good contact with the game properly.
Great videos usual, but am I the only one that notices the high pitched whine like a crt tv gives off when watching this vid, had to watch it in stages as the buzz makes my head hurt :(
Really love videos of broken old items being given a new lease of life. Please keep this up, it preserves a slice of history!
You have a great channel you also really know a lot about video electronics to repair them so fast.great job dude..
we all get floppy joysticks, it comes with age.
aly nicholls I think there's a treatment for that.
hahahaha

What keywords you search on eBay to find this stuff
Do my dad still has his nes, and If you get a steady gray/anything image, it will (eveantually) work!

Something really cool to have would be a Gameboy adapter for the gamecube. It's my favorite way to play GB/GBA games
BaileyTeaVee I want to get one. The actual players are pretty cheap, but the problem is the disc is quite expensive.
I'm 28 and I still have my original super Nintendo from 1995
On the NES when the game boots but it's still flashing what works for me is if I mash the reset button and then it usually stays on
Why have you not pulled the leg on the 10nes chip on that nes?

You should get one DS Lite for GBA stuff and maybe some DS stuff too. They are cheap nowadays.
xX_SpeedyScout_Xx keeping an eye open for a deal on one
Does a regular ds play gba games, ir just the ds lite?
How you find these junk boxes on eBay what do you type on a search bar
You can use an Nintendo DS lite for Gameboy Advance cartridges.
Why dont you clip the chip so it won't blink. Mine turns on every time
A couple reasons. First, if possible id prefer to not make modifications if not necessary. Second, if I'm testing or cleaning a cartridge, i want to know that it should work on any working system, not just one with the lockout chip disabled.
Oh I understand. makes sense
You should add WD40 to a Q-tip and go over the pins of the cartridge after the alcohol drys.
Untested and not working, how do they know it works without testing
Sometimes they label as not working for an "as is" listing, in case it really doesn't work.

DvdXploitr yeah, it's definitely an odd one. One of these days I'll get around to opening it and finding out what's wrong
Get a DS Lite from eBay. They play GBA games. Then go to my teardown on ifixit.com for repair advice.
Are you selling the 64 controller as is

Hey man I have a broken gameboy advance that needs repair
What's the problem with it?
@retrorepairs it has a cracked shell and no other problems
Shell may or may not be fixable, there are replacement shells that you can buy, then just transfer the internals over.
RetroRepairs I know in the video you were looking for a gba and I’m asking if your interested
I can donate some stuff to you if you will make some new vids Lol
Donation link needs highlighted. Thanks
It gets a bit buried, definitely. Thanks!

That sound when you put an EA Sports game
What do you use for search terms to find these lots?
Usually look for "Nintendo for parts", or not working, or broken. They're not always there, sometimes have to just get lucky
wtf is wrong with that smb3
GibbyScrooge always had issues with that cart. Seems like the board is slightly thinner, and the contacts need cleaning so it's not getting certain info
17:02 haunted cartridge
teh_supar_hackr 0010101 I think it's the poltergeist
is that bad?
It might require an exorcism to get rid of
lets do that before the 2600 pukes everywhere
hit reset when it blinks
Unfortunately doesn't always work. Blinking red light is super common on NES systems, it almost always just means it's not getting good contact with the game properly.
RetroRepairs im going to disagree if you hit that reset button the game would stop restarting
RetroRepairs hi do you ever come to the gta maybe like orillia?
Try to let the alcohol dry and the nes should not blink

I really have to appreciate your effort to post this exciting anecdote of yours under every classic gaming themed video on TH-cam
The tv sound is really annoying and it hurts my ears ;(
Great videos usual, but am I the only one that notices the high pitched whine like a crt tv gives off when watching this vid, had to watch it in stages as the buzz makes my head hurt :(
That might actually be the CRT that was turned on.
nes=revealed
44:0 is a good like, dislike ratio
Right? You viewers rock
111:0 is not bad at all
Mission impossible is trash
More videos please !!!
High pitched ringing, hurting ears

I think the NES is dead, the games should not come out that easy. The pins in the NES might be bad too.

*scammed. It's 3rd grade spelling.
