Take heart! Indeed, the fight goes on. I can see the disarray of the LGBT+ community in the USA, but tomorrow you'll see a little more clearly. The battle is lost today, but not the war. The transidentity issue is progressing but we must let time do its work, even if Trump is here for 4 years. Message sent from Berlin by a transman
Sending you love and comfort, Aydian. You have been a lighthouse for this community for SO long. You deserve to sit with your sadness. Take care. Love to you and your family. xo
I'm a trans person in Canada. I am so scared and so devastated for my American kin. You're about to lose all the fights you have literally DIED to gain and protect. Violence against us is bound to increase as people take Trump's election as permission to hate us even more and keep blaming us for all of society's problems. If you're a trans person in the US, come live in Canada if you can. WE want you here. ❤
I wish I could. I was struggling to even try to find housing in MN. Might be able to be smuggled to the east coast if my state goes full fascist first thing (my governor sucks). We have friends in Canada but as a disabled couple we rely on subsidized housing... I'm so scared. We have a short vacation planned but that's not the result I was hoping for obviously. Maybe if I'm lucky we can immigrate somewhere... But then I'll be farther from my family too. It's all gonna fuckin suck. I'm already slowly withering from lack of food and we cut food stamps. Now it's gonna be easy to be banned from bathrooms. My bf can't have reproductive care. Who knows if we'll lose healthcare/Medicaid somehow... I feel so upset. Especially knowing there's so many people like my dad that don't vote. Because they didn't take this seriously. I didn't want to prove him wrong. I didn't want this presidency. I did everything I could and I'm still not safe.
If people do end up considering it. If you can, it's probably going to be cheaper to live in smaller towns than it is in the city. The cheapest house is like 250,000 - 500,000 CAD (which is 179,413 - 358,825 USD). Also, it is best not to sugar coat things... Yes, it can be difficult for a US citizen to move to Canada. All must meet the same high immigration requirements. The cost to immigrate to Canada can range from $17,100 CAD for an individual to $33,100 CAD for a family with children. I recommend doing a lot of research and planning.
Thanks for this. I'm definitely struggling with this reality. It's... Defeating. How did the world get this way? It's so unsettling, and I just feel so down now. It's good to know there are others or there- we just didn't make the majority. 😔
I honestly don't think Trump is against trans people. Sure, he does not respect pronouns nor care about the community, but also he is not a moralist againt them. Except for minors and propaganda purposes, I doubt he will care too Much about trans folks while in power.
I hate this feeling of hopelessness. I am letting myself grieve today and will pick up the pieces tomorrow.
I'm feeling all the feelings today with you brother. Hugs.

Mexico is a better option, low cost of living and the laws protect your trans rights.

Trump supporters often speak of " Gods' will", what if he doesn't live out his full term?
Love you. This sucks
I'm so so sorry for my usa siblings, you'll get through this
Our existence is resistance. But also, just as you said, give yourself the time to be sad

Do you think Kamala is better?
She wasn't actively campaigning against us. She wasn't threating to put us in camps. So yes, Kamala is better.
