I just got my 18 F3S. Very impressed so far. I also ride a VTX 1800f. This thing absolutely flies around corners. I doubt I'll even use sport mode much. In normal mode it's sideways half the time. 😃 Motorcycle dudes sometimes snub me, I did too until I rode one. Not a replacement for anything I ride, but a extremely fun addition. Don't hesitate to consider owning one. Life is short. Have a laugh.
Been thinking about one of these. Three wheel fun for sure. Been ridding motorcycles for about 35 years. Had a major stroke about 3 years ago and my balance is not so good any more. This could get me back on the road in the wind again!! Drive about 1000+ miles a week at work as a sort of UPS delivery job, no problem driving. So one of these would suite me perfectly!!!
definitely be one your best options out there. 2 things he mentioned not true are you can put your feet down with the semi auto and not roll even in gear..also they have power steering and i have ridden with 70 yr olds and they didn't have problems. best of luck in your search and hope you find what your looking for. check out spyderlovers.com forum for more info.
Got one this last November. F-3S it is a blast to ride as I have only ridden it 3 times so far. It’s getting really cold now. Can’t wait for this next season. Found one with only 705 miles on it. Gravity Gray with the orange frame and handle bars. It’s February 1st and they are calling for a big snow storm tomorrow, Drats!!
Great review. Fair pros and cons. I love this bike. Looking at a couple this weekend. I've ridden numerous motorcycles, but I am getting risk-averse as I age. When I start fearing every oil patch, gravel/sand/debris, and water on the road (especially on the twisties), that's when I'll be most likely to dump a 2-wheel and injure myself. Not to mention the inevitable dropping a heavy cruiser or touring bike when it tips to one side with the bars turned at very slow speeds. It happens to everyone. These Spyders are super fun and much, much more stable/safer than a 2-wheel ride (but nothing beats a 2-wheel on a curvy ride through canyons). Some of my most fun times were riding Can-am quads on bumpy trails and forestry roads, Sea-Doo's on lakes, snowmobiles in Northern Wisconsin, and Polaris side-by-sides on high-elevation mountain paths in Utah. The Spyder seems to offer a similar type of ride for the street. It really is a snowmobile/quad for the road. The Spyder F3 feels most right to me at this point in life.
I have watched this video several times and I love your commentary However,. I am not sure if you have learned by now, but you can place the semi-automatic F3 Spyders in neutral once you come to a complete stop. Therefore, you can put your feet down at a stoplight without having to purchase the manual version.
Great review, I had a Valkyrie that had an Arlen Ness seat front and back with a backrest that could be switched to the drivers position while ridding alone. That seat was hard as a rock at 1st impression, however it was very supportive for the long rides. Wife and I could ride hundreds of miles with great comfort! No saddle sore butts! Many complained about the factory seat cause it was too soft! Didn’t support you very well. Rode mine with the factory seat and didn’t like it at all! The Ness seat spoiled me, it was hard but provided the support need on long rides! Was great on short rides too! Miss that bike! But oh well shouldn’t have sold it! Was out of work for a while and the property taxes came due, the bike was owned clear and free so it had to be sold!🤬 Still have my 1st street bike, I’m never selling that one! 1983 LTD 750 Kawasaki with 36000 miles! The wife suggested I sell it and it almost started a fight!!! I told her NO NEVER! That bike is actually going up in value!! My buddy has an old 82 KZ 1000 that was his Dads. It is in mint condition with low miles! He told me they are really getting big money on the market if they are mint. Which both of ours are. I don’t care what they sell for, I’m keeping mine!! Love those old LTD Models!! They were the 1st Japanese cruisers. Very pretty bike, great lines. Not like the old Japanese bikes that looked like a surf board!! LTD’s had a really slick look! Thinking about one of these Can Am’s. I understand they now only make the automatic transmission in them. I would have the get the 1330cc model. Besides the smaller ones only come with the CVT transmission! Yuck! I’m not a fan of CVT’s in cars, so that’s a big no in my book!!! Like the dual clutch in the new Hyundai cars I have driven so it would be a big ok for me!! Very fast shifting! I understand they are pretty slick in these Spyder’s, no need to come off the gas just shift with power on!!!😉😘😄
I agree with you on the tracking and low speed turning does take some effort. I did the demo about 1 1/2 years ago. I had the automatic transmission and saddle bags on my demo. The auto downshift was weird at first. Even the radio lowers the sound when u start slowing down and when u speed back up it goes back to where you had the volume set. With the windscreen down I did get some helmet buffing and it felt like I wanted to blown off the vehicle. So I kept it about have way up and it was perfect. I'm about 5'8" tall. Overall if I couldn't ride 2 wheels for some reason I would definitely buy a Cam Am.
Really liked the way you did the review..kudos. I have a Can Am Spyder RT and demo'ed an F-3S just this week with the semi-automatic. Since I was already an owner they let me take it out by myself and said "just come back 'whenever'"! I had a great ride. Mine is a twin so this three has gobs more torque and a much stiffer suspension. It shifts better, tracks better and will certainly out accelerate my RT. I rode for over an hour and now am spoiled! Thanks again!
Excellent non bias review and test ride Bryan. I must admit to not liking the look of them (we saw a German biker with one when we were going to Germany in 2013) and would suggest that they're perfect for a biker with arthritis problems who finds holding a two wheeled bike too much to handle at slow speeds or stationary. When you returned to your FJR, it was like being reunited with a good friend. No comparison!
Very, Very nice commentary...... I'm definitely going to be getting the f3 in a few months and i can't wait to explore the open road..... Peace and respect!!
My daily rider is also an FJR, And I'm purchasing one of these that happens to be this model and the same year... But with the semiautomatic That you were wanting to test ride 😆 I really enjoyed your video and thorough inspection of this although you didn't have time to open it up lol thanks so much for your great videos especially on the FJR. You have taught me a lot about my bike
Awesome review my friend! I also have tested the spyder and totally agree with your closing comment after hopping back on the FJR. My 06 which is lacking from yours.. still what a difference :). Thanks again for the details included in your review!
thanks for the review and btw I think its only hard to turn the handle bar because those are drag bars if there was some pull back it will make a worlds difference found out on a friends bike it had drag bars aka strait bars and we poped them off for regular bars and presto it was night and day
Hi Bryan, I like the test drive on the Cam Am Spyder and I cant wait until my local deal has a test drive, you did a good job on the bike with all the details about it... I hope to do a video like yours soon...
Very informative video. I would imagine the electrical gremlins some of the earlier ones experienced have been sorted out now. I am writing this in July 2019.
Have noticed that pretty much all of the can-am's have those 2 sets of lights on the front of them, Dont know when you turn them on if all 4 come on at the same time, or if you can do just 2 of them but i bet you really get Great visibility at night when you have all of them on at once.....
Not your issue, but I was just chatting with a Spyder owner the other day (at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs Fl). He was riding a 2013 Spyder, the touring model with the high end package (beautiful trim and seating). What he relayed was scary! His machine as I wrote, a 2013, under warranty has had transmission problems right from the gitgo. Looked at by his dealer on three different occasions (told it was fixed reached time); only to have the same or a unique problem arise with the bike's shifting. Not what I would want to have happen when buying a toy with it's price tag. The fellow has concluded that even though they are trying to do what's right (the dealer), they simply don't have the technicians (at the level they need to be at)...
Hey Bryan, I would like to see you do a review on the bike I have, a 2014 Honda CTX 1300 Deluxe. I will do a review of mine soon, maybe after there is a warming trend, which should be on Tuesday or Wednesday this week, but I might have to do a better review when I get a better microphone.
We just traded in our '11 RT Limited for a leftover '14 RT-S - we loved the cognac and black combination. We're unfortunately in Wisconsin so we've got some time before we get it on the road. The RT has power assisted steering ... Low speed is still a bit of work but if you're looking for something for your parents, it is worth a try. The 1330 triple should be a lot better than the 990 twin - even though your review was on the F3, that same motor now powers the RT series as well. Anyway, thank you for the excellent informative and unbiased review.
A superb review of a fine machine. Insightful, comprehensive commentary with brilliant video and sound quality. Thanks very much for sharing this with us.
You did well, but what were Can-Am thinking, giving test runs that only involved straight lines and (so far as I noticed) not even a single left turn? Jeez.
when you came up to that signal light at around 9:48 and saw that yu were 1st in line, it worried me a little that the light for you to turn left wasnt actually going to change for you, I have seen this happen to Many bikers, cause if I remember correctly, and I know that this is only for some lights, there are wires undetr the pavement that tells the light in a way that there is a vehicle waiting to turn left, but since a bike like your weighs a bit less that a car or truck, sometimes the weight of your bike isnt enough to lets say TRIP that wire to tell the light that yu are there waiting to turn, and I have seen Many bikers that are Forced to actually Run that light because it wouldn't change for them.......
Nice review man! I have never driven a bike ever in my life, but now i`m interested in buying one. What do you suggest for a first timer, a Can-Am or something else?
Great review I enjoyed it ... I have the 2014 RT-S and in 4 mouths I have traveled 12.000 + kms and I love it . I also agree with You about the power steering its kinda crap ... But the revers is great on the Can Am's it's a true revers were the Gold wing is only electric running of the starter motor
Are you able to fit your helmet inside the hard luggage case with the sena Bluetooth still attached or do you have to take unit off the mount to make it fit?
I have a 2009 Can Am with the V-Twin I also have a Softail Slim S Harley Davidson the Can-Am is just as good as the Harley the Harley has a little bit more power
+TwoWheelObsession : Also on that power assist comments at 17:00 - 18:06 or so. Test out the RT-S SE6 models if you want to see real power steering on those models.
You must have a pretty fast Mini-Cooper or you were blowing away people who did not know how to ride the Spyder. My 2008 RS Can-Am Spyder runs in the low 13's right at 100 mph in the 1/4 mile. Not blistering by any means. But not all that bad either.
Hmm. On my 2007 fjr it fit fine and now that I have the 2014. It doesn't fit unless I take mine off. Darn. The saddle bags should be the same shouldnt they?
TwoWheelObsession never had a motorcycle before. Always wanted one, thinking of getting the F3 or the Slingshot. That was the best review I've seen yet, & No wind noise.

And they were like! Sorry Soory just come back and we'll work it out, Bhaaaaha yea OK!! So they can piss in my gas tank, No thanks! Ride safe man...
Liked your video, BUT I think you gave way too much commentary on the "power-assisted" steering. Two things... 1) everyone should have been taught in driver training that you don't turn the wheel (handlebars in this case) when you're not moving. As you move, you dial in the steering. It saves your tires, your effort, and your power steering if you have it. 2) My wife was born before Kennedy became president, and she had no problem whatsoever steering an RT. Perhaps the RT is a little easier to steer than the F3, or she's just a very strong woman, but I'm guessing that means it's not really an issue.
Nice review. Just subbed. I’m looking at a 2016 F3 Sp Ed with 12k miles asking price $16,400. I thinking that’s to high considering the miles on it. What’s your thoughts.

I wish they still offered a manual clutch 6 speed on them now. I’d like to have a new touring model with manual 6.
never being a big fan of this 3 wheeler but I do like how luxurious their top model is.
The fully dressed one is way too heavy. The F3-S easily has the best performance of the F3s.

+Charles Crumbley Thanks!
Thanks for your observations, it was one of the best videos on the F3 I've seen.
Colorado Rydes Thanks man!
Thats 8years alot better now have you ridden since then and is so what s your opinion now ?
Nice! Be safe and Enjoy Brotha! Ryker Dude here!
A superb review of a fine machine. Insightful, comprehensive commentary with brilliant video and sound quality. Thanks very much for sharing this with us.
Good job, from one Michigan guy to another. Considering FL also.
Alan Reams Thanks man!
You did well, but what were Can-Am thinking, giving test runs that only involved straight lines and (so far as I noticed) not even a single left turn? Jeez.
very nice review thanks for the detail too i wish others will take note and oh i got one 6 months ago the 2013 RSS and i love it

I have never had an issue here in FL on any bike.
I’d be interested in a Slingshot review from you.
I rode in a couple. Review: it's a 3wheeled bathtub car. The end.
Nice review man! I have never driven a bike ever in my life, but now i`m interested in buying one.
What do you suggest for a first timer, a Can-Am or something else?
Guramulta George Well any trike is day and night from a bike - depends on what you want of course!
It doesn't lose power on the interstate with cruise on
Our local Honda dealer had demo rides for Can-AM, a couple of months ago and I missed it. Now, I'm really disappointed. ~Hilman

it fits fine with it on. only the gopro comes off
Great video. Nice job. Seen it multiple times.
I have a 2009 Can Am with the V-Twin I also have a Softail Slim S Harley Davidson the Can-Am is just as good as the Harley the Harley has a little bit more power
What type of engine is used in this vehicle, is it short stroke or long stroke
Great job on this video review. Now I want to buy one even more !!
What brand of video glasses or camera are you using? Nice video.
Brandon Bowers Thanks! GoPro 3+ Black - I have vids on everything.

Try the other side.
Did you ride a Ryker Rally yet as in the 2019/20?
Which one do you think is best for the money ($25,000) The F3 SPYDER or the Polaris Slingshot?...
I know they're very different Machines.
Awesome Review By The Way. :0)
I can only imagine them completely different because I have not yet driven a slingshot
TwoWheelObsession never had a motorcycle before. Always wanted one, thinking of getting the F3 or the Slingshot.
That was the best review I've seen yet, & No wind noise.
John D you should review the slingshot.
All the reviews I've seen are ruined by wind noise.
Building s looking in this video, is it residential
do you need a morotcile licens for the spyder? or you can drive it with a car licens? pls help me out thanks
joropatrona or quads?
it's a motorcycle in California
It depends upon where you live. In California, for example, a car license is sufficient to ride a Can-Am Spyder. No skill test required.
Great review! I watched every Min of it" Sub'd & I would never go back to that bike shop! EVER, I brought my 13, 636 there for the first service and all they did was an oil change! excellent demo ride....
Dude, 20 pounds low?
How did you not feel that within 100 feet of your driveway on that first turn?
that was 20 on the air pump gauge like I said I got home and did them right. who knows what it actually was
Liked your video, BUT I think you gave way too much commentary on the "power-assisted" steering. Two things... 1) everyone should have been taught in driver training that you don't turn the wheel (handlebars in this case) when you're not moving. As you move, you dial in the steering. Gas is still $4 here in So. Cal
How did it feel without a windshield??
Michael Doucette Like any naked bike, normal wind to the chest and head
How can I buy one
Good commentary.
I grew up with .29 cent per gallon gas.
Can you put a link to the web site let's dash ride.com can't pull it up thanks.
starrider1900 www.lets-ride.com/
perfect for short people like me, dont have to worry about having to touch the ground......LOL
Hopefully it was already hot./warmed up.
very
Nice and informative nice job
Nice review. Just subbed. I’m looking at a 2016 F3 Sp Ed with 12k miles asking price $16,400. I thinking that’s to high considering the miles on it. What’s your thoughts.
i really enjoyed your video
Gonna be tough to lane split here in CA! :-D
Good job on Vid.
Wonderful, wonderful. Thanks!
Power streering on today’s bikes.
Sounds like a Pontiac Firefly.
Id tell that guy to get the hell out of my way
f3 or f3-s? you said f3 in video why i asked.
20 pounds low in a week ?????? You better check that tire.
Looks like a snow-mobile, so its more like a road-mobile then.
Love it😊
dude in the white jacket looks like he lost.
