I'm glad Ancelotti decided to include Diaz, the guy is a jewel! Kepa has me very worried though. Rüdiger continues to impress and Carvajal was a star! And Valverde was pure class! A bit disappointed in the forwards but Atletico made the game so frustrating for them with their low block especially during Extra Time. I felt sorry for Kroos because he kept being booed but he was decent.

This win against Atletico Madrid is simply a reflection of just how immense Real Madrid’s season has been. In that game they were behind twice, conceded an unfortunate own goal, and despite the great game plan from Diego Simeone in frustrating them in the 2nd half, these guys went on to win the game during extra time.
Real Madrid absolutely deserved the game and in the midst of all the injuries setbacks and challenges they have faced throughout the season, they’re still getting results and no matter how difficult or tough the game is they’ll win. This has always been their DNA and what makes it so special is they had 20+ injuries and sure they have some deficiencies at the back and they’re not even starting games with a natural striker the job Carlo Ancelotti has done with the depleted team that he has it takes some doing really. I was really impressed by this win and with every game, you just wonder how Real Madrid keep doing this and I think more people need to appreciate the fact that even with all of these injuries they’re so good and win football in so many different ways from dominating teams to scraping results and coming back from behind showing that you can’t write them off even if they’re losing because of their spirit and never give up attitude and they showed that once again today.
Don Carlo is truly a gem. no striker? no problem! first 3 goals came from defenders! it's amazing how this team finds a way from everywhere. you cannot stop them from scoring.

Real Madrid coaches don't get enough credit because the players make it look so easy. Be it Ancelotti or Zidane. Their substitutions work, strategy work. If having top players will win you trophies, then check the 1st Galacticos era.
That said, Kepa is very shaky. I'd rather start Lunin. And for important games, Tchouameni might be better as a CB and put in Camavinga as box to box.

Personally I prefer the old Supercopa when it was a two game final. Those El Classico`s were fire. That being said hope Madrid win it this time round. Last year we were so close to equaling Barca for most trophies won. This year we`ll cut the distance to one trophy after we win it.

Astute observation. Cant even finish any epl top clashes. I will always fall asleep despite whatever the scoreline. Boring playstyle and predictable at best. Maybe city needed gundogan and kdb more to spice up the intensity of the game again like it used to but gundogan is gone for good
My hot take is that Kepa is playing due to political/contractual reasons. There's probably an agreement within loan contract that he has to play a certain percentage of games.

If Carvajal is Jude Bellingham today, i don't think Espn will allow us to breathe.
It's not about Bellingham and Carvajal but it's all about lesson from Ukraine's Rebrov that Simeone learned by not specially man-marked Bellingham but playing zonal-marking. Twice now Atletico neutralized Bellingham into having bad performances because of tiring himself from the wild runs that Jude often made but the runs can't made Atletico defense interested by following him in everywhere. At the end of the day he was tiring himself of many silly runs and became frustrated. 🤣🤣
No defensive players can outmatch Bellingham special prowess of Endurance (stamina and strength). So by not specially man-marked and following him was Ukraine's Rebrov idea and it became success.

Brahim is inconsistent when he starts and plays every week. He doesn't have the physique and is better for everyone if he plays short periods of time. Inconsistency was his problem in Milan. He is great playing 30 to 50 minutes.

Lunin needs to start over Kepa
One thing that Diego Simeone successfully done was Bellingham is now twice successfully neutralized by Atletico with twice bad performances as similarly done by Sevilla's Diego Alonso and Ukraine's Serhiy Rebrov but failed by two Napoli's manager Rudi Garcia - Walter Mazzari and also Italy's Luciano Spaletti.
I think Simeone learn from Ukraine's Rebrov success on stopping Bellingham by not man-marked him by applying zone-marking while Ukraine's manager (Rotan) before Rebrov failed to do so by man-marked Bellingham.
Player like Bellingham who is very versatile and can play in many position while also playing as false 9, false 10, false 7 & 11 which also very smart in his movement shouldn't be tightly man-marked. And with Bellingham's natural prowess of endurance (stamina and strength) which is a great gift by God can't be matched by any defensive players who try to man-marked and followed him. Just let him play his own game and let him make every of his silly runs and he will tiring himself when in zonal-marking no defensive players are interested in following Bellingham runs but keep the zone safe and this was perfectly done by Atletico which made Bellingham frustrated. Often Bellingham runs create spaces for his teammates to score and he himself often leave his marker to dead because of his physical prowess but he himself will also dead if he was allowed to runs until tiring himself when in zonal-marking no extra spaces for him.
This would often come at the expense of the defenders having to mark up to 3 players at a time. While Bellingham was silenced yesterday, Real Madrid could easily toy with the defenders and move the ball with intricate passes into the Atletico box using the rest of the players. Should've resulted in a lot of goals but Atletico just about managed to block the ball in many cases.
It was a good answer from Ancelotti too. Bellingham would have to get used to this a lot from now on.
