Thank you so much for covering the ancient city of my people- Benin and the Oba’s Palace. The English came and sacked the town burning it to the ground and exiling our Oba before stealing our Palace bronze artefacts which are now all over the world in museums and people’s private collections. I’m very proud of my heritage from both my father’s and mother’s lineages. I’m from the Edo or Bini tribe and it’s unfortunate our language is dying out because people aren’t teaching their children their language, only English. My brothers are guilty of this even though my dad banned us as from speaking English in our house when we lived in Switzerland as a diplomat. I live in NYC now and most of my family is still in Benin city and I do go back whenever I’m able to.

Love your work! The European visitors, observers, speaking on similarities to Europe lands(west) Italy(south) are mere conformation of the fact that African Civilizations, prior to the slavery interruption, was a prime example of a society well-functioning, flourishing, highly economic, well connected, wealthy with Royals. I had zero knowledge of these sources’ statements before now, but my own study of “art & symbols” of Benin and same European locations mentioned, shows, in my opinion, a direct link, a sure presence, and sure influence in Europe society and its designs.

Just because a berber fathered a boy with a dark skinned slave or concubine who by fortune would eventually become king or sultan does not mean you can claim Moroccan history.
