Loved your cat story. The same thing happened to me. My cat had been missing for weeks. A neighbor found a dead cat in front of my house, put it in a bag and brought it to me. I actually was not 100% sure it was mine since it’s head had been misshaped from the auto hit. I worked at a vet hospital, so I took it there to be cremated.
Several days later, I walked into my kitchen and there was my cat, meowing for food. I nearly had a heart attack!
Everyone at my hospital had a good laugh over it and always referred to MY cat as Cemetery Cat. All I could think of was,”Whose cat did I cremate?!?”
Oh Nancy, I'd a had a heart attack. Thanks for the story. God must of planned it all along,that you would take care of that cat's remains. Every good deed comes back to you. So glad your cat is back,too.

To be honest the gift opening was perfect. It's just people being a little picky. A large majority of us thought it was perfect I bet. Don't sweat the small stuff and keep up the good work. It was the best idea having episodes opening your gifts. 👍

Re: gifts, maybe a list of companies that issue gift cards - like the hardware or feed store - in your area so you can pile up those gift cards to get bigger ticket items you need/want for the farm & house build. Fun to see MaryCarl's handbags and other thoughtful gifts! You just do you - it is why we watch!

I agree. MaryCarl's cute little shadow was blocking the light on the gifts. I had a hard time seeing them through the shadow.

I wish Mary Carl would join the podcasts like she used to do. I haven’t seen Nugget running since you moved to the new farm. Is he liking the new farm? I think having Mary Carl on the gift opening video helped a lot. She brings a lot of enjoyment to your videos. God bless.
Nugget has room to roam in his big pasture now, he only had a small space on Cog Hill so he needed to run. He loves it on the 40 because all of his friends are there next to him especially Joe
Mary Carl doesn't like to do the Podcasts regularly. And they don't force her to appear on camera like some of these channels do to get clicks. They want her to enjoy and have a normal childhood. And as you know... as kids get older they develop their own interests which usually involves spending time with kids their own age. But if you WATCH their other channel you see more of Mary Carl and her chickens.
As for giving or not, if someone wants to donate to a animal shelter in COG HILL'S name? But also, buying them some listed chicken feed, goat feed, treats for the dogs?

Your gift opening was like Christmas! The ooh's and ash's were so genuine and you were so appreciative. Don't ever lose that enthusiasm! Maybe have three tables, one with all the gifts, one just for openings and the other for putting and arranging the gifts on after opening.

I watched the gift opening video and I’ll be perfectly honest with you, I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn’t see anything at all wrong with it. I loved seeing the three of you interact with each other! And having a Cog Hill video show up on my TH-cam list every day this week has been AWESOME!! My grandparents had a console tv/record player combo also. If I remember correctly, on one side of the tv was the record player and on the other side was where the records were stored. Brings back good memories!

I loved watching you try the pepper jelly. I've made this for years. At a party you take a block of cream cheese put it on a plate and pour a jar of pepper jelly over the top and have a ton of crackers on the side. This goes over great at parties. So glad to see more videos now that things are settled. Love you guys!

I have been making pepper jelly for years and everyone eats it the same way, with cream cheese on a cracker. BUT, Jason, the next time you have some pork chops grillin on you Traeger, about 5 min before you take them off, spread a little of that jelly on the chops. OMG delicious! The jelly is super easy to make, but you can find it everywhere. The gift opening was the first one so I'm sure you will figure it all out, I felt it was perfect! Thank you for including all of us!!
It's really good with on a peanut butter sandwich too. I make jalapeño pepper jelly. Ive sampled several different types and love them all.Thats the reason why I learned how to make it.

The gift opening was natural, as opening Christmas presents. Rehearsal or changing format, with exception of one gift on table IMHO, is not necessary. I enjoyed MC trying to reclaim her sock and pocket caring bag fro her Mom-a,
Best cat story, every! I've had cats all my life and was overjoyed to hear that Kitty was alive and well and lived to a great age. But your mortician father burying and memorialising some other Kitty cat, for your mother, was beautiful, Brooke.

I loved the gift video! Loved how giddy y’all got over some things. Seeing someone open gifts and seeing their smile is a gift. So I LOVE y’all are doing this. I do have 2 suggestions. PLEASE I don’t mean to be negative BUT 🤦♀️ some of the gifts were flashed too fast and didn’t actually see them. That’s it! Y’all are beautiful beautiful people! Brooke, My dad was a funeral director/embalmer too. My grandparents lived in an apartment above and when my sister and I spent the night with them we never opened a door we didn't know what was behind it! Your story about Kitty is too funny!! To heck with the naysayers - we love y'all❣

I so enjoyed the Kitty story! it had me smiling and laughing. When I have a party the pepper jelly on a block of cream cheese is the first thing I run out of. Definitely addicting. We used to have pot lucks at work. I would always forget until the last minute. Pepper jelly around some whipped cream cheese and different crackers always went well. Pepper jelly is so easy and we make it with different kinds of peppers. Each kind is unique. We just love your videos.

Here in South Georgia we mainly use the Pepper Jelly as a condiment to field peas or mustard greens like using pepper vinegar. Easily to become hooked. Love y'all so much, YOU"RE family! Martha

No one else does on TH-cam just do the best you can everything was visible I could hear you well. you put too much into it and it's going to become a job please keep it simple for yourself. You two just crack me up, I've had a rough couple of days sick as a dog but listening to you two cheered me up no end. We had the same sort of cabinete TV when I was young & when the dial broke we couldn't change the channel. But my very frugal father wasn't about to buy a new TV, he bought a pair of pliers & we used those to change the TV channels for many years. Thank you both for brightening my day!
Yep, vise grips clamped onto the metal pin that the knob slides onto. After the knob broke you used the vise grips to change it. We only had NBC, CBS, and ABC television companies so it was changed often.
Console tv, A M radio, and a phonograph that played 45 r.p.m. records, 33 r.p.m. records (Albums), and the old thick records that were played at 78 r.p.m. My Grandma had this fancy console it was almost 6 feet long & about 24 inches high rectangle box on 10 inch tall legs. It was a Christmas present from my Grandpa (the only 1 he ever bought for her ) his brother was a tv repairman and owned his on shop all his life. Here in Michigan and when they "retired" he moved his business to Florida in his garage.
But we never had a color tv until I was an adult and I bought mine first.
HOW FUNNY! We did the same thing! The little pair of needle nose pliers was the first tool I ever used...and that was to change the tv station....😅
I remember using pliers on ours 😂 good times.
We've got vise grips on the clothes dryer knob right now.

Loved the cat story! So funny. And yes we had one of those console TV's. Daddy never bought anything new but he could fix the old TV's replacing tubes and what not. That was our first color TV too. And yes when it finally went out the new TV went on top. 😂 Thanks so much for the laugh and the memory ❤️.

I thought the present opening was perfect . Thinking back no-one seemed to be to much of in the shade or to much light.. A wish list is a brilliant idea. I loved seeing MaryCarl keep putting the cat back indoors.
We make a sweet pepper jelly! Use a block of soften cream cheese and spread a whole jar over the top! As the cream cheese softens, it’s amazing! If you make with red and green peppers it’s great for the holiday spread!🎄
This is the kind I have always had. Red and green peppers in sweet jelly is very festive for the holidays.

We had our TV setting on our cabinet TV for years also.
Both had a broke knob and a pair of pliers to change the channel.
I remember how loud it was when the channel changed it had a big thud sound.
My mom would tell from the kitchen to STOP FLICKLIN THEM STATIONS! LOL

Christmas at the 40 was a lot of fun to watch. I would like to see more of that type of video. I love to see the animals too!

Regarding the wishlist, I think it's a great idea, I am trying to be less wasteful in my life, and if I choose to gift something it's great to know its something needed/wanted.
I like a wish list, because I work in animal rescue and know how much feed, supplements, animal meds, etc cost. Plus I know how expensive it is to move a household...much less a farm. And they are just starting out with their channel. So if I can buy some feed for the animals, that gives them more money to spend on infrastructure they will need to build for their farm. Rome wasn't built in a day...,and neither will Cog Hill 40. Plus the price of everything is going up, so every little bit will help them.

I just loved Norway, I came for a visit from the UK Christmas 2012, we spent Christmas Day at the Nord Capp watching the northern lights. Beautiful!

If u watch the video today on their other channel, they talked about moving the one chicken coop over to a new pasture with the chickens. They left wheels on one of the coops so they could rotate the chicken in different pastures go help fertilize the ground and provide a continuous stream of grass for the critters.
I can’t believe we the people are so st__id, insensitive, thoughtlessness…Y’all are one of the most positive, upbeat and sweet, talented, caring, loving … my goodness…They’re watching y’all & it’s your channel, do what you want.
