I am 71 years old and have listened to many, many different “blues guitarist/ artists ” over my lifetime. Justin Johnson is absolutely at the top of this list! He is a “master craftsman“ and plays the guitar so effortlessly it just seems to be part of him. I guess that it is more than apparent that it part of his heart and soul....keep up the good work!👏👍❤️
I love and have supported Justin's projects from the beginning. Love his command, but Billy Strings is the king of the fret board right now. Justin just may agree. Kids bad ass just like Justin.
The thing I love about this channel is the breadth of experience that you can cull from it. If you just look at this video, you fall into the typical youtube keyboard warrior trap: if I had an elite PRS guitar, the right amp, and all those pedals...then I could be a tone-master blues guru. But if you've followed this channel for any length to time, you know Justin could do the same with some string taped over a toilet seat.
I get what you are saying, but isn't this a PRS SE anyway? It sounds great and obviously he is killing it (like he does any other thing with strings), but I wouldn't really call this an elite guitar. Also I don't see anyone saying they could do this. It looks to me like it is 100% praise and appreciation. So I'm just curious -- why bring the negativity?
I don't think there's many serious guitar players saying that lol not the ones playing long enough to understand where the tone master blues guru sound comes from anyway.
You all are taking what I said a bit too seriously. I wasn't addressing anyone or anything specifically. I just meant that when you browse youtube for stringed instrument videos--whether it is guitar, or ukulele, or mandolin--gear is often highlighted. However, when you watch videos published by people like Justin or Jack Broadbent, you become aware that the gear is an afterthought and not essential.
Coming from a 43 year old man that has played the blues for 35 years. This is my favorite blues artist alive. For what its worth I'd love to have a session with Justin as would so many I'm sure
I'm right there with ya, man. I'm 51, and started learnin' them blues at 13. I fail at solo, but I can lay down some real feels, when it comes to rythym and back up vocals. A night, jammin' out with Justin, would be a wholesome memory to take to my grave! 👍👍👍

I thought it was cicadas too. But with it slowly coming back and slowly going out. I think you may be right. Around my house cicadas don't stop and start back like that. Plus they only talk at night.

How lucky am I to be alive in a time when I’m given the opportunity to watch a modern master of guitar play close up. View his fingerings, techniques and listen to incredible instruments thru top of the line audio equipment. How much would it be worth to go back in time and be afforded the chance to sit this close to Son House or Robert Johnson. This old dying gray beard has listened to a lot of em come and go, and you young fella are as good as they come. BRAVO Thanks for being you and letting me watch.
"dying gray beard" - I can only assume you are referring to the color of your beard. Being um later in life myself, I certainly agree with your assessment of Justin's playing.

Dave wasn’t a shredder or technical master - but he was one of the best ever! I see a lot of technical prowess, but not a lot of soul, these days. Just say’n, one dying grey beard to another - lol! I am always seeing people praising this guy and honestly he is not that great of a player, his vibrato is very amateurish and playing in general is very amateurish idk why people think he’s so great, I guess it really boils down to the fact that there are no actual real guitar players left so they cling to someone who is mediocre at best, sad state we’re in

Justin, your playing always captivates me. When i use to plat guitar i would play whatever i was able to "teach myself". I never had any practical lessons other that sitting with a friend a time or two. So when i sit and watch you play i kind of get the feeling that you are also self taught. The depth and breadth of what you can get out of just 2-3 strings is amazing, never mind a full six strings. As always, thank you so much for sharing your talent and love for guitar. May you forever be one of the greater inspirations to future guitarist because you brother have an amazing talent. You truly seem like a real world "August Rush."
It's like JJ reached down into his soul to pull out every note, string bend, hammer on, pull off, and slide. I have listened to this a dozen times already, and I just noticed this video yesterday.
Save these to ‘best’ on my old iphone5. Play back with my “Poundland buds”. And it sounds so good. Thanks for the sharing, and your wonderful guitar touch! X
Something great about the internet is that it's way easier to learn instruments now. I always say I would have wanted to be born in the 50's, but man I am lucky to have videos like this to learn from.
You used to genuinely have a mentor for everything. A trade, an instrument, or get your hands on expensive books. The internet is truly a blessing for all that want to achieve that knowledge. Honestly, on that part of the spectrum, it's a beautiful thing. I was born in 94, and was blessed by the web to learn an instrument. I'm really grateful.

Damn that's some smooth stuff to my ears. Justin Johnson, always great to hear you play. This one in particular id like to learn.
Thanks so very much. From my Glasgow tenement. X
Beautiful guitars, beautiful music, I want to listen to this all day long.
The cicadas just make the music better, they add a background that’s just unreal
Thank you so very much! Extremely grateful to be a part of your talents....Best wishes 👏
All notifications turned ON, like my old lady when I put this on for ambiance when she has some of that Tequila Rose ;)
shit that was funny dude
Definitely going to try that!
If only my hubby knew what this music does for me...maybe he'd turn off the tv, or let me turn this guy on in our room!...amazing idea!
Amen! Whatever's going on in the world...picking, fingerstyle, gospel, classical, etc.
This song an Blues Guitar Meditation help me get the day going. Thank you sir
Awesome as always, Justin. Love your pure childlike enthusiasm when reviewing a new guitar...be it a CBG or a $16K French high tech custom. Thanks for sharing your love of music with us...no matter from which instrument it emanates. You are the pandemic quarantine antidote! 🎩
Thanks for watching and for the comment. I appreciate ya!
Best acoustic sound I’ve ever heard.
Who would leave a dislike?? I learned to pick from just one of your vids man!
He's still got it . Looks and sounds better than ever.
This clip, and a bottle of Tito's vodka over ice. And as far as you know, the rest of the world is far away. Relaxed as hell

My mind is at ease, that is soul medicine
Only been playin a lil under a year and always felt more comfy with my finger picking dynamics over my aggressive flat picking playin this makes me never wanna play with a pick again lol
There's never any harm in doing both so you can use whatever the occasion calls for, I'd recommend checking out Chris bucks technique for a bit of inspiration
blues is the best music in the world!!! greetings from italy!!!
