You may want to consider terracing your backyard to deal with the current steep slope. A couple of retaining walls would help reduce the slope and even eliminate it altogether if you bring some soil filling. You can use the stones from the old structure to do at least one retaining wall. You would also want to curve one side of the retaining walls to allow machinery access your entire property. If I were you, I would do that first before fencing your property.
Oh you are brave - we bought a house in Italy but this almost a ruin in the wilderness - i admire you - so much work and dedication for Italy, but one day you will have a nice house and garden - good luck - keep watching your videos
Have you thought about sheet mulching? This would preserve the soil and prevent plants from coming up. It’s not that difficult of a process you just need cardboard, compost and mulch. You could at least do a section or two. And by the time you come back in the spring the soil will be amazing and you can plant anything. Soil is only nutrient dense when it has plants in the ground. Removing the plants will kill the soil. So it’s best to preserve the soil so that when you come back you can plant anything.
Thank you! I don’t have a close up picture of a leaf but I did post some close ups of the tree on Instagram. Hope you can help! instagram.com/p/CV-6wcLlyNj/?
Good idea with the fence to mark the boundaries and keep the animals out. Definitely have a veg garden. Think of the wonderful tomato varieties you can grow in that sunshine. I live in Scotland and we dont get a lot!!! Also aubergine, salad crops etc. So jealous. Thankyou for sharing your plans.
Thank you! Unfortunately I don’t have a photo of a leaf from that tree. They were a little out of my reach. I will be posting some other things from the yard that I need help identifying on Instagram. instagram.com/jbcerchiamo/
I may have missed it in an earlier video, but how much USD did you pay for the house/land? Thanks! Love seeing the Italian countryside and dreaming of returning soon... 😀
Thanks for watching! This property was very very affordable, in fact we were surprised it came with such size of land. We paid less than the asking price and it costs us less than buying a brand new car. Of course, we must add renovation costs, etc. but all in all worth it!
Vi scrivo in italiano così vi esercitate ...Lol . Siete ottimisti e motivati , continuate così !
Grazie mille Marco! Vogliamo praticare l'italiano il più possibile. Cercherò di dire qualche parola in italiano nel mio prossimo video. Grazie per l'ottimo consiglio. Ciao
Would it be to personal, to ask price range of your home. I have ten thousand and still saving. What to buy a home for cash and live in Italy. Watching from Michigan

You are in the right track, we posted a video back in June of 2021 where we show the website we used where you can find several properties listed and the prices. Hope you find your forever home in Italy!
Good stuff to see the small progresses. Out of curiosity, are you allowed to have dump trucks deliver land fill to build up that slope? While I lived on the Gold Coast in Australia, we used to deliver land fill to properties with the same slopes. I was wondering if this is permissible in Italy.

Thanks for watching Jenny! We love Scotland as well. Definitely a vegetable garden is a must.
per gli alberi da frutto, da piantare, chiedi al tuo vicino ne sà molto di più. Il terreno lo svilupperei in 3/4 gradoni, con un passaggio al centro
Grazie mille Gianfranco!
Show us what the leafs look like on the big tree so we can determine the species. Love your channel!!!
