Took mine off to do same repair. Cleaned it good before replacing. Used mothers black to black. Be careful I actually cracked my wind shield trying to remove wiper arm. 🤨
Hey Chris, there are two udders on the driver's side, and one on the passenger side under the battery, which is longer and curved. Thanks for pointing that out and another awesome video as always!
Three on driver side is correct Just got to reach back but it's there. Don't forget to be sure AC condensation drain is also clear. A clogged one will cause water in the car. Bugs get in and clog it. Good luck reaching it unless you have toothpick arms. Rubber is hose on firewall behind intake manifold.
I replaced the cowl on my 04 Z06. It was slightly warped and there was too much gap between the windshield and rubber strip. I ordered a new one from GM parts for around $235. About $115 for oversize box but it was still about $150 less than one of the ripoff Online retailers.
Good video Chris, I have to do this right now, same exact issue, its coming off in the same place. I took off the drivers wiper arm prior to checking out this video. I forgot to mark it so I hope I dont have to spend too much time getting it aligned properly. My wiper arms werent chipped, just oxidized badly. I used some auto store turtle wax polishing compound on them and they look like new again. I will put some wax on them too slow the oxidation cycle. I tried cleaning them before trying paint because I didnt have much time tonight to do this, but didnt want to do this without restoring them. Yours came out nice, and thanks for your help on this. It will be quick and easy now that Ive seen it done. I get nervous prying on plastic, not knowing whats hidden underneath. Ive seen many things cracked by people guessing, and jumping in blindly. This should go smoothly with your help. Thanks again.
Thanks Chris! Will definitely get around to this, the middle of mine is starting to come up and it looks terrible and has been bothering me, just figured it couldn't be fixed.
Mine went missing on my 2002 rav 4 exposing some of the under hood. It’s very expensive for a replacement and I’m trying to figure out a hack to protect the under hood from rain and snow.
Great upload and glad you mentioned the utters. FWIW, in addition to leaves, Pine Needles really, really wreck havoc with clogging them up. So when looking to park your Vette in some shade, I'd suggest staying away from pine trees. As to using the Permatex adhesive, what is recommended for clean up for the extra glob that might occur during applying same? Mineral Spirits maybe? Or ????
I am going to have to take mine off and see what it looks like under there. Mine is garage kept since 2002 but hey, you never know right? Great video man!!! 😎
Hey Chris! I’m going to be repairing my little seal on my cowl panel as well. It’s only about 6-8 inches thank god! I’m going to paint my wiper arms too. My cowl panel is a little faded, do you think if I cleaned it up real good, wipe it down with 91% alcohol, that the paint would do ok? I know they make a plastic spray, but was wondering if regular enamel would be ok. Thanks
Do you of anyone know if the seal between the cowl and the windshield can be purchased? It appears my seal shrunk and created an inch gap at the corners of the cowl.
@@do5e they don’t sell the seal alone. Looked everywhere. You would have to purchase a new cowl which I don’t know if it’s available anymore. I’m just dealing with it and accepted it
The weather strip around the battery is floppy and I noticed it had a flange where it should be screwed or fastened in. I'm not sure how/what kind of fastener it uses. Anyone?
Useful video, thanks. Always good to see some projects don't have to cost a fortune but certainly add to improving the car!

Very nice video quality and I love how you take your time to explain everything. thank you!
Great vid and perfect timing. Will be fixing the cowl seal on my Vette today.

Thanks Chris! I always saw that flappy trim on mine and didnt know if there was a way to fix it. New project for this weekend!
Nice fix. I've been looking at that seal on mine for awhile now. Thanks!
You've done it again super Chris.

Good job, good that you hood was out of the way.
Gotta do this to my C5. My arms are discolored as is my cowl panel

Great video Chris need to take mine off and check to see if mine needs the same repair

I would wipe off any excess right away. It takes about 24 hours to fully cure so it wipes off pretty easy if you do it soon after application.
Do we need to use some sort of sealing product on rubber trim to seal wel between rubber trim and windscreen?
No
I am going to have to take mine off and see what it looks like under there. Mine is garage kept since 2002 but hey, you never know right? Great video man!!! 😎
Did your car have a hole in the cowl made for replace the oil sensor ?
No. I have a video on how to replace the sensor.

Idk if I would paint the cowl. Even the most faded can be brought back to like with the right product.
I think I might use 3/4 in masking tape instead of clamps and do the whole thing at once

same prob i have.. looking for a replacement seal

i think water is getting in from the gap that was made from it shrinking.. spent a few hours trying to find a new one.. no luck.
i actually ordered the wrong part thinking it was the seal for the cowl to windshield.. the part called Hood to Cowl Seal is the wrong part.
@@do5e rubber shrinks overtime when it gets dried up. My thoughts
Gracias Chris for the good video God Bless you.

While you were in there shouldn't you have put some lithium grease on the wiper motor gear? Just a little preventative maintenance.
The weather strip around the battery is floppy and I noticed it had a flange where it should be screwed or fastened in. I'm not sure how/what kind of fastener it uses. Anyone?
Mine is not fastened. It’s made to remove easily.
