  • @wickedwitch3520
    @wickedwitch3520 5 ปีที่แล้ว +78

    DIY! I think she will regret not going with the DIY. As a cat owna and a parent the DIY is a better option. The child will find it more of a challenge to get to the litterbox and the extra litter will be corralled in the first area.

  • @KattMus2010

    Love the DIY ❤ I work with kids and cats and I don't get how a small child "won't get to the cat litter" in the Buy? It's the perfect high to get into. And I would never have a litterbox as a sidetable, imagine the smell and all the sand outside the opening?? The DIY is the perfect solution for all of those problems, love it 😊

    @saikogrrl 5 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    Wow I was really surprised she picked the buy. To me, the DIY was best without question! It was way more functional, and actually fitted the brief much better, since it would be much harder for the toddler to get their hands into the litter since it's in the farther "room". The buy litter box a kid could super easily get their hands in there and pull out litter.

      I enjoyed it but neither one of them would work in my house cuz imma Critter nut and have usually around 20 to come in and out year-round. I don't use air conditioning because of my fibromyalgia and a little bit of money I had to deal with yeah okay if cat feed does help does take a lot when you get this many but I don't rescue animals they rescue me and been doing that for a long time also don't have a problem with blood pressure. My cat's pretty much have free reign to the whole house and I live in a place where is normal for a cat to be outside fact some of these referrals to decided they liked it inside course I have no kids either now here they grown and gone.

  • @rtd1791
    @rtd1791 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Definitely DIY. 1) it’s a completely customizable design 2) it’s cheaper 3) it will be easier to clean 4) it will catch litter better because of the ante chamber. Opening doors outward is just easier than clearing the top and then opening the lid. Plus I know with the buy option that cat litter is coming out of that thing. There will be bits of litter all around it. Plus the DIY option had space for storing cleaning supplies.
    Both options needed flaps to help contain the smell. No matter how vigilant you are about scooping your litter, right after a cat goes there’s a bit of smell that you don’t want traveling around your lounge space. Also a flap will make it harder for the baby to get into the litter.
    I’ve known a few toddlers that ate cat 💩. Super gross. But the wee ones are ingenious when they want to sample 💩. The DIY option was also easier to baby proof both the cabinet doors and the flaps. The lazy cat factor should have been noted in the brief and could have been addressed with a small step, which Dani could have made no problem.
    Truthfully I also thought the buy option was ugly as sin, but I loathe Mid Century Modern. Dani’s pillow was more attractive than either buy option and again completely customizable.

  • @Glukiland
    @Glukiland 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Loved both ideas, even the buy one is sort of DIYable, so that's cool.
    Looks wise I would probably go with the buy option, BUT, as a mother to 2 cats and a 2yo human, I know the DIY option is more functional and kids proof for the long run, cause we do have a closed litter box and my son still manage to get there, so I love the fact that if you put some kind of lock on the doors of the DIY option your baby can't really get to the litter and your cat can have privacy.
    So for me the winner is definitely the DIY option!!

    I much prefer the DIY, since it also gives the cat a little "chill out" area out of reach of a toddler. I would have made it a bit differently though, like opening it from the top to fit the narrow space better and maybe adding a "vent" at the back so the cat isn't super hot in there.

    Wow I was sure she would go for the DIY! That was AWESOME! The buy was pretty too & would have been a good choice for a very small space but I feel like she had plenty of room for the bigger one & that one did a lot more. If the cat won't jump that high just put it next to something lower so it can go jump up on that & then onto the top of the box. I wish I had something like the DIY when I had an indoor cat, no matter what I did the litter box was an eyesore & smelled up the space it was in.

    I thought she didn't want the baby getting access to the litter box?? Duh? The DIY would have been the way better option. I have 4 cats and even I preferred the DIY!!!

    Who in the right mind would pay so much for a box just for their cat to poop in.. Dani could have made the exact same thing for $40 or less. Definitely team DIY.

    I'm so team DIY! I don't understand why so many people pick the buy over the DIY. I almost always love the DIY so much more 🙈🤗
    and also.... it's a little unfair and even a bit of a waste, that Melissa would not mention such an important details (I mean the hight) bc it's so easy to customize that with a DIY. And I feel like that's the case in a few other videos as well. I don't know if that's to make it "more interesting" for the story but to me it just seems a little wasteful and also sad that the DIY loses bc the contestants don't give out ALL the necessary information. What is a DIY for if not to exactly tailor it to the needs of s.o.? 😢

    Team DIY was the best and the cost was reasonable too. You basically got two rooms and cats love climbing even the lazy ones. That girl just doesn't know it could have been Mac special place away from the baby.

    You could close off the 2 sections of the DIY..to keep food and water separated from the 'toilet' area, inside the box...or buy the cat feeder ($40) that is only accessible with the tiny device on the cats collar..and have it in the kitchen..and I wouldn't put the tassels on because my cats would play with them and shred them...Or just make the DIY as one 'room'... and maybe a clear flap to close off the smell..with an activated bamboo charcoal bag that you can make a hole in the top under the cushion with a little 'grill' for the bag of charcoal to lay on..Also, I would figure out how to attach and detach either carpet..or a cushion on top for either washing or replacing🤔😁

    Team diy for sure!! Don't really like the cat beds, kids like to mess with them way too much and the diy was way nicer. 😊

    As soon as that baby can crawl and pull itself up, it can reach into the litter box and grab kitty litter and poop. The DIY would have avoided that, with the addition of a little latch on the doors.

    Team DIY hands down. The buy option I can just see a toddler throwing toys in the litter and reaching in after them the diy option has litter hidden

    I really love the DIY. I am not a huge fan of that color of blue however I feel like with the two compartments it would really help to hide the odor of the happenings in the litter box especially if you put flaps over the two openings. Also I love the fact that the compartment next to the litter box has the material on the floor to help catch the litter off of her paws before she leaves. Also with the vie I feel like it was that big opening on the front that the baby will just be able to be getting in the litter box anyway also I feel like the cat will be throwing litter out onto the carpet.

    Funny how the 'thrifted' cabinet Dani is using has no signs of wear and tear and still has the ikea sticker on it 🤔😂
