    Nice job Micol! I love that you fixed and repurposed something that would have ended up in the landfill. Very practical. Thanks for sharing; hope you’re feeling better. 🌿🐾🌀

      Thank you 🥰 I am feeling much better 😊 and yes, this dresser was in much worse condition than I initially thought, but with a bit (or a lot 😅) of TLC it now has a beautiful new purpose 😊

    I love the over all look of this. Very creative. I did a similar project with a small nightstand with 3 drawers. But I took the drawers out & attached all of the drawer fronts to one piece of plywood that then became a door with hinges on one side. So there no longer were drawers inside which is where the litter box went and the entrance was on the side. I prefer to work with solid wood instead of particle board that most of the Ikea furniture is made out of. Screws step out to easily and I want something that will last a long time.
    What I love about yours, is that the box slides out. I think that is a feature I will incorporate into my next build.😊
    A friend loved the look of mine that I gave to her and made a duplicate out of the other nightstand for my cat. There were two that I purchased at an estate sale. Well, that kinda got me started on making more and I now sell them in custom colors, hardware, and designs using repurposed dressers, nightstands, large blanket chests, and cabinets. It has become a nice side business for me. I even put an addition onto my woodworking shop to store the pieces of furniture as I come across one at estate sales, thrift shops, and auctions.

    This looks gorgeous! An ambitious project that came out quite well. I was wondering how you'd address ventilation. Very smart to cut the hidden hole in the drawer. A suggestion if you want to take it to the next level-- Cutting a hole in the dresser wall opposite the kitty entrance and installing a small exhaust fan (think PC-sized) in line with a carbon filter to improve air flow and quality. :D

      Hi Linda! Thank you 🥰 I am testing litters right now, I’m on litter #4 and still my usual litter (linked in the description) is the best. Having a bit of a foyer and the right mat definitely makes a difference, too! 😊

    This piece looks great.. I have watched about 3 of your videos in the last hour because we have a new kitty with opened litter box tried 3 different litters and the smell is horrible still when he first uses it. I've decided maybe we need to change his food. He's eight months old do you have any suggestions for a good type of cat food?

    • @MicolAndOtherAnimals
      @MicolAndOtherAnimals 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I am a fan of raw food, for many reasons, non-smelly poo being one of them. Definitely look into it. I have several videos on it. The next best option is freeze-dried raw or canned food. Wet food is best for kitties, but cheap canned food is not the greatest either, so it’s a bit of a toss!

    Does the wooden block guide that was used to cut the angled frame pieces for the drawer fronts have a name? Or is it just handmade to suit?

    • @MicolAndOtherAnimals
      @MicolAndOtherAnimals 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha, good question😅 I guess here it’s sold as a guide or miter saw box for a hand saw 😊

    May I pls ask you some opinion? What kind of dewormer brand do you prefer for cats?

    • @MicolAndOtherAnimals
      @MicolAndOtherAnimals 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't deworm, I do a fecal sample to see if there are worms first. So far, we are clear. When my dog did come up positive for worms, I used a natural option combined with frequent fecal check until her feces were consistently clear. I prefer not to give me animals substances if they don't need them 😉

  • @LaydeeLia
    @LaydeeLia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How do you decide how high / low to put the doorway? Or is it a standard measurement??

    • @MicolAndOtherAnimals
      @MicolAndOtherAnimals 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I checked how high my kitties chest is (the bottom and top) and placed it so their body wouldn’t have to go up or down, just their legs. Does it make sense?

    Se esse móvel for do tipo IKEA que cai quando as gavetas estão abertas, é perigoso se somando o peso dos gatos também.

    • @MicolAndOtherAnimals
      @MicolAndOtherAnimals ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point! So, first of all, IKEA does offer a wall bracket to secure the chest to the wall: I'd fix it to the wall, better safe than sorry! Since the drawers are closed when kitties are in it, though, the center of gravity is kept within the footprint of the structure and it remains stable.
