Hi Janey! I would like to suggest steel posts when you get around to replacing more of the fence. I dealt with broken posts for years and finally got a new fence and they use metal posts instead of wood so they won't rot in the ground! The cost increase was minimal.
You are handling the workers stepping on all your plants much better than I do. I get so upset about it. I know it’s hard but when I see that they don’t even try to be careful, it’s heartbreaking for me to see my hard work be stepped on. I feel like most of the time they are oblivious to what is underfoot.
You must be so relieved to have the fence fixed - it also looks much cleaner without the trellising on top. Collateral damage in the garden is almost unavoidable when big structural jobs have to be done. I usually either fence off delicate areas or dig up the plants in the line of fire and pot them up until the construction is over. And so much color still in your garden! We are blanketed by white snow so it is white, gray and brown in PA right now - still feels like Christmas 🌲💚

I know you said “it is fine” and are so sweet and those plants had to get cut back or out anyway BUT, there are some contractors that actually MIND the plantings and take great effort in care to not stomp or damage them. It is often a selling point for me…..just a thought for future reference! After all, it is your livelihood. Also the spilled concrete should have been cleaned by them too. Seeing as you are on TH-cam, it would or could potentially help their business too🥰

Haha! Luckily the neighbors have a metal wire fence up about 2 feet from the actual wood fence. I think it's to keep the goats from kicking the fence panels down when they are trying to reach the leaves in the trees. It's not much, but it would keep them away temporarily (at least that is what I'm telling myself🤣)

Doesn't it feel good to know your fence is at least secured now? We had a neighbor-shared fence fall down a couple of years ago, and had two others that needed replacing, so we went for it. Now when the big storms roll in, we know we don't have to worry about it. I really want to get out and tidy up my garden - it is such a mess. Love that Sure Fire Rose Begonia! I hope I can get one for my garden, but you know how limited Proven Winners plants are in the Bay Area. Monty sure is a handsome fellow. I love his cameos 🥰

I am not as hot as your area but relate with flowers and plants, for sure the begonias are still in bloom - I still have zinnias that want to show off. I will get a video up soon. We traveled to the Christmas Markets in Europe and the flu season made a visit along with all the wind and rain. Can’t wait for 2025 season ❤

When I watch you doing all this cleaning and pruning, I always wonder if you're throwing all the cuttings in the "green" can, or do you have a compost situation out in the back somewhere? I can't remember seeing any videos on composting... did I miss something? You have inspired me to get out in my garden to clean up all my dead hosta leaves and peonies. I'll be getting my winter garb on for that... it's in the 30's out there, burrr😅 It us so ugly here in the winter... we had our 1st snowfall yesterday, not much, but I'll take it. BTW, your orange tree is really doing great again this year.

Wow! I have the same plaque , the Green Man and Women in a different color. I have the cement color hung inside my home. Ive had them for years. I really love that color. When I ordered them there was only one color. Did you paint your plaque? It looks wonderful on your fence. HAPPY GARDENING!

So did they give you an estimate for the whole thing? I had to replace my backyard fences last year. I knew it was time when my bichon could push it over with her little body 😮. So I feel your pain on the cost but I only have half an acre
