Walking is very important to this breed! We walked our beautiful girl every day for her almost 12 yrs. She was so happy and loved her 2+ miles a day. She also NEVER had a bath!!! No one could believe it as her fur was lovely and she had no oder. I just lost her to cancer and I miss her immensely. I'll always have a Shiba. Hoping my breeder has a litter in the fall.
One warning, I clipped Ruby's nails since she was a puppy to get her used to it. Did it slow, gave her treats, was going well and she never got hurt... One day she just started screaming at me for it. Honestly I don't know why and I still get her nails clipped but she lets out long loud screams every time now and fights us. We do everything we're supposed to but it still happens. Just warning people who are considering a shiba that even when you do everything right, they can be quirky and you may still get a scream because they decided they hate something done to them. Also noticed we got the same puzzle! It took her a few seconds and she figured it out. I need to find harder puzzles for her. 😅
Thank you again for another great tips video! My Ozzy was 15 years old last week and still my best friend but I wish my late husband and I had your videos when he was a puppy!! One tip...Ozzy was a "puppy mill" dog so he had a lot of puppy parasites so there is relief...he gets allergy shots here in New England our weather this time of year is snow then warmth so Ozzy's had his allergy shot in September. Thank goodness for shots...he refuses to eat any medication!!!
Hi! the harness link is in the video but here is the brand we currently use. It is slightly more expensive but this is by far the most durable and comfortable harness we've tried for Jimmy. Jimmy’s new harness - amzn.to/3C7w3Xw
@@SuperShiba Thanks for pointing that out, YT is a little inconvenient to navigate on Android sometimes, haha 😅 I've heard that your new brand is quite comfy for a lot of Shibas; however the problem with my boy sadly is that a harness in general feels too restrictive to him and training beyond him putting his head through the head opening is... difficult, to say the least. My hope is that a harness where he can just step into it to out it on might be easier for him to accept. We adopted him at five years old half a year ago so we still try a lot of things with him. He's also our first dog so we have double the trouble 😂
Thank you so much for your informational and adorable videos!! We’ve always had dogs in my family, but they’re always small dogs like chihuahuas haha and I do love that breed but I find myself more drawn to Shiba Inus lately for myself (*´ω`*) I will be sure to review your videos more to learn more about this breed before I fully commit and get a puppy. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day/evening~!

Happy belated birthday Ozzy!!
She’s great just gotta get to know each other that’s all just got a female bout a month ago
Great video!
I need to be more consistent with a few tips you mentioned. QUESTION: When you wipe paws...are you using a dry or wet rag?
Ty
Dry towels but I think both dry or wet towels will both work.
What brand is Jimmy's red harness from?
I'm still looking for a comfy one for my Shiba boy, but so far he only accepts collars :/

What brand is the harness Jimmy has? I am getting a shiba puppy in 2 weeks and have been looking around, thank you!
She puts in description :)
What do you do for work? Just wondering how long it’d be okay to leave them home alone.
Hi thanks really helpful! can I ask a question can a 12 year old train a shiba inu dog by any chance do you think its possible 😅😅
With patience and determination age should not be a problem👍

If I only I could afford one... Dumb meme coins made it impossible to get the breed I want. I ain't got $3-5,000 😅
lol hang in there!
