Just built this myself for 30 new quail. I made 1 modification and installed a threaded insert into the side so i can bolt in the arm for the light and remove it so it can all fit inside the brooder when not in use.

We used a rolling clothes rack and attached the heat lamp to the "hang bar" at the top and the side "poles" can be raised and lowered as to allow the lamp to be attached to the bar and raised and lowered to adjust the amount of heat being broadcast below. We cut out the container box lid center area and hot glued a length of window screen to it. Lid snaps back on but is now screened so the chicjs cant jump out. When finished brooding, everything unpacks and goes back into the container tote, snapping the lid on top and everything stores away until next hatching.

I subbed :D UR vids are sooooo helpful, I Realllyyyyy want some quails, but im 12 and my parents dont want me to, even though i am veryyy responsible and did tons of research, so i guess ill take in all this info for later when im older ig, i garantuee you ill make a massive farm with all my dream animals in it. and quails are so inexpensive and easy to take care of. i just need to be responisble and careful. welp, thanks for the vid 😁☺

Did you buy a special heat lamp to go with the inkbird? Just curious if it's as simple as plugging the lamp into the inkbird?
We just plugged in a heat light you can order on Amazon or get at your local feed store
I took your idea and built two of these. My quail will be a week old tomorrow, and my question is how do you clean it out once they learn to fly? Transfer them one at a time to the 2nd one and then back? Thanks again for the help.
Yes the best is to just transfer them somewhere while you clean and then add them back. It’s a bit tricky for sure but will be nice for them to have a clean home!

Thank you. I did some test runs with the setup today. Unless I cover the top with plexiglass everywhere except where the light shines down, I can’t get it to heat up. Does this sound right? Using a 250 watt bulb
on the temp prob..where did you run the wire? along bottom of cage? or did you drill hole in bottom and run it up into cage where you glued lid?
Great question, we ran it along the bottom and up the side and used duct tape to secure it down
What size would i need for about 20 quail chicks?
You can probably use something similar in size and if they grow big fast you can always switch them to a bigger setup or cage.
What amount of watts is the light that you use?
250 Watt is good for brooders holding +25 chicks
It’s a year later so I’m sure you have already found out but cider is horrible for your quail, it attacks there lungs and respiratory system .

Ok I want to try this when I get mine I got the lamp and the bulb you linked but I now see the lamp say 75watt max and the bulbs say 125watts is that ok ??

DIY brooders are great and all, but isnt the whole point to save money. After sourcing the materials, i realized that a $25 brooder from amazon does exactly the same thing for half the price. It comes with everything you need.
