    This is an excellent overview of the most heavily marketed boards.
    A few comments.
    1) Atoll's weight limit is a marketing gimmick. All boards with the same volume will have the same maximum displacement (weight limit). Most of the boards listed will carry just as much as Atoll. They just made a marketing bullet point out of it. A buyer should also be aware that they don't want to get anywhere near the weight limit because the performance of the board begins to deteriorate rapidly. People over 200 LBs will want a board with atleast 280 L of volume. The Atoll board is only 238L of volume. The ISLE Explorer (11.6 ft x 6" x 32") has 336L of volume. ISLE claims a maximum weight limit of 300 LBS, which is far more realistic and honest measure. Atoll claiming their board will carry 400 Lbs is pure BS.
    2) Red Paddle technically doesn't make their boards. Like all Isup manufacturers, their boards are made in china as well. The difference is they have a manufactory which makes boards only for them. They aren't the only ones who do that. Starboard also claims to have their own exclusive manufacturer. Many of these brands, like atoll, take generic technology and brand it differently. Irocker included. Only a few companies, such as Red Paddle, NRS, and Starboard, do much R&D to push the tech forward.
    3) While I think the information is presented well, and definitely gives new buyers a great starting point, I'd have chosen different boards for the mid and upper tiers, such as BOTE, NRS, Hydrus, Starboard, ISLE etc. All of those companies make boards that are comparable or exceeding the quality of boards produced by IROCKER or Atoll at the same price ranges. I Find Atoll to be a good value, but IROCKER boards put the money in all the wrong places IMO. 'd rather pay $1,000 for a better board than 10+ action mounts I won't need.
    Good video. Certainly a great starting point for buyers, but some of these companies bend the truth too much. I personally stay away from companies that mislead consumers about specifics. My favorite brands are ISLE, Starboard, NRS, BOTE. Red Paddle does make great quality, but their marketing rubs me the wrong way sometimes. They make it seem like they make their boards in house when they do not, and they copyright terminology, but don't actually hold many patents. Their boards are overall built almost the exact same as the other top tier brands. They just create a name for the process that's unique and start using that in their marketing. MSL lamination ,for example, is used by most of the high end brands. It's just called fusion lamination generically. Red Paddle just put a few words together and made a copyright out of it.

    How many boards did you try in each price range, before picking out YOUR best?
    This is a question to always be asked when anyone quotes what they see is the best there is...of any product.

    cool vid. i was getting one to use with the dog, so had to spend a little more for a more stable one (Connelly). Also, i def recommend an electric pump. zero desire for that hand pump.

      Super popular brand, similar to the blackfin range from irocker they’ve got a good accessory ecosystem behind them. It’s a good option if you’re looking for a board with a touring shape over the rounded nose

      Yes it’s a pretty impressive board! If you class yourself as an advanced paddler then the 13ft would be great. If you prefer the extra stability then the 12 would be better 👌

    If u just put standard SI metric units (meters, kilos) next to the imperial ones this video would gain much more viewing value and broader audience. Pls consider this for the future TY.

    But some say the board can be a life jacket cause the ankle lease and board floats

    • @medicalsi
      @medicalsi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The lease can also trap you under the board many people have drowned due to this. It should only be used in moving water or open sea. Bouncy aid just give you that extra level of safety especially if your not a strong swimmer. A life jacket would not be useful at all as it’s designed more for unconscious people
