My Rans Rocket, SWB, 20", has two fully floating idlers. One on the drive side and one on the return. They work well and they work well. It is getting the position of them in the right place, something that Rans did. Good progress, keep it up.
Really coming along nice. Such a nice organic design. Please, please reconsider using your hands to clear chips WHILE the chuck is spinning. Use a rake or pliers, or power off the spindle. 👍👍😎👍👍
If you plan to use smaller chain sprockets at the front, that chain tensioner won't be good enough. You will have to use similar tensioner as it is on rear derailleur on normal bikes. Or something similar that would be spring loaded and have enough travel. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your next video.
Huge expectation to see the handlebar and the drive system and how you are going to solve the trike balance!, great project, I am always waiting for a new video. Are you considering making the plans available for selling or something?
Handlebars are now installed and working, video in production, hopefully out in two weeks or so! I am considering selling plans in due course, but the design needs finessing and proving first, not least for safety.
I have used floating sprockets in my LWB recumbent chainline (similar to your design), and to be honest it was wasted effort - they do not slide 🤬 It will be interesting to see whether you have similar experience?
Maybe consider going electric, there is a new technology the would eliminate the unwieldy chain called Schaeffler chainless drive - just a crank and hub motor!
I had a look at that Schaeffler drive, I think it would work well if augmented by battery power (as is my plan for future development of my design). As a direct replacement for a chain drive, you have reduced efficiency - Schaeffler claim a loss of about 5%, which is actually pretty impressive.
Sorry for the delay since the last vid! Plenty more building going on to show you soon. Hope you like this update, any comments or questions welcome!
Working one the next one now!

Good point, thanks! I definitely need to not do that any more.
Loevely work... enjoying the series
Thanks!
Hello,
Nice work... it's really coming together now... see you on the next one...
Cheers.

I'd love to replicate your design when it's finished

Very nice!
wish u could make more vids of trike.
Love your videos again 😅
Glad you like them!
yay, your vids are great.
Thanks, so are yours!
Muy muy bueno felicitaciones

Are you intending to use all the metal components you’re making in the finished trike?
Some but not all. Most of the bits made on the lathe or mill will be reused, but the fabricated sheet metal probably won’t be.
Maybe series hybrid would be much easier than a long chain.
👏👏👍👍
Very interesing.
Interesting,riely
Really.

I suspect I may have the same experience, but it probably doesn’t really matter for such a long chain anyway.
Hay algun telefono donde poder comunicarme?
