It’s not a tap dance. It’s Irish dancing.

What you watched is two versions of Irish dance. At the beginning, Jean Butler performed what is known as soft-shoe Irish dance, followed by hard-shoe dancing. The hard shoe dancing is not a form of tap-dance. American tap dance originated in the USA in the early 19th century and is a cross between African and Irish dance forms. American clogging is also a derivative of Irish dance.

The form of dance is Irish step dancing. There are two types of shoe. They are commonly known as the soft shoe and the hard shoe. Jean Butler was wearing soft shoes in her first dance, which i think was a slip jig. The hard shoes make all the tapping noises but they are not tap shoes. It's extremely difficult to be as good as these dancers. They are all champion dancers. I think Michael Flatley held the world record for beats (taps) per second.

I vividly recall that night 29 years ago that still feels electrifying and mesmerising even today. Actually, this is not tap dancing, it is Irish Step Dancing, a beautiful and ancient Celtic dance form that dates back to the 11th Century. This style of dance is known for its quick foot movements and rigid upper body. While tap dancing, which involves the whole body, came about much later in America during the 1900s, at the intersection of African and Irish American dance forms. It's fantastic to see you both (Small Town Couple) appreciating the incredible talent of these professional Irish dancers! Alas, both Jean Butler and Michael Flatley have retired and hung up their dancing shoes..... great that they were captured on video during their prime. Thank you for showing this clip again.

If you're interested, there are a number of performers and groups who combine Celtic music and Indian music together. I recommend the song "Apples" by a Canadian group called Delhi 2 Dublin, which is a combination of traditional Irish fiddle music, Punjabi Bhangra music, and Jamaican Reggae. These styles fuse together seamlessly. And the music video features some more Irish step dancing, as well as Bhangra dance.
Some other artists that combine Celtic and Indian music are The Snake Charmer and Jiggy.

The Irish dancer basically combined Irish and Spaniard dancing into 1 and made the best performance I have seen since Motown 25 Michael Jackson's Billy Jean performance, how amazing this performance was the girl was good but the man came out demanding attention and authority over the performance, amazing.
