I just wanna say I am currently in a CS50 virtual course and 30 mins in it started to not make sense because I have no prior knowledge of binaries. So, I skimmed on how to convert binaries and discovered hexadecimal. But in order to properly know why it is important I need to know operations on binary, and it led me back here. I was here back in 12th grade and I never knew self-learning how to code is gonna lead me back here. Thank you!!!

Thank you, I just started a class and the reading wasn't really explaining it well. You explained this clearly and slowly enough that I understand now.
In terms of subtraction as the first subtraction example given. I see a tricky part that also not mentioned in detail however I tend to assume the author teach us with all love spared. What is missing in this example, it's not mentioned that we use 10-base as by pass (workaround) which after conversion to 10 base made gives us 2-1 respectively (as a result we get) = 1, which re-converted to 2 base is 01 or just 1. I mean as mentioned in the previous comment this guy does his best teaching us and I am appreciated for all his time spared, but you cannot learn science without questioning people you been surrounded by. It means that always ask even if looks nice to you. It means that no one is perfect besides the fact they can explain it pretty well. TL;DR for subtraction : always have online converter otherwise binary cheat sheet (conversion table) at hand (or learnt by heart, what a burden!) convert each row in the stack of subtraction process to 10-base, do the arithmetics, re-convert to 2-base for output as final 2-base solution. This way of thinking works best for me. Cheers.

You are so awesome I was having trouble with the basics but after going through this video it helped me a lot it totally cleared my doubts thank you so much !!
then help me understand 12:48. Why is it 2 here when borrowed ? I know that there's the 2 square columns like 1,2,4,8,16,32, etc. since there are only three digits here, the square column structure should be 1,2,4. so why is that when borrowing from 1, does 0 become 2 ? (i) shouldn't it be just 1 as 0+1 =1 ? (unless you're talking about complex numbers. ) (ii) if we take into account the square column thing, then shouldn't it be 2 + 1 , why 2? As it's the 2nd column where it's value is 2 . Thus, after adding, it should be 3. I'm confused. if you get it, would you mind explaining it to me ?

This is my first look at the topic, however, I guess I got the idea readily thanks to this tutorial. It seems that the logic is the same as the classic addition when the base is 10, just a little bit modified. To exemplify, if we want to borrow 1 from the greater digit, we need to borrow same as the base(for classic addition it is 10, for the binary: 2) Thank you very much for the tutorial
I'm watching this channel since my alevels. Now I'm in college majoring in science. Even now I'm watching this. This helps me lot to understand a small concept in depth. Tnq so much for ur wonderful work.😍
