    Thank you again to RPG Limit Break for having us this year. We have some interesting ideas for possibilities by next year's event and beyond, but nothing locked in yet. Hoping we can be there for the whole week next time.

    This went from an ffx showcase to a "bad day at the office" showcase for automation engineers lol. much love keep up the good work, i know how frustrating it can be to have working scripts suddenly not work but only during a presentation, nightmare fuel.

    I'm so impressed at how consistently entertaining this was despite the bumps. A group of incredible entertainers, for sure! There's also something very humanizing about seeing the hiccups, it makes it feel a lot cozier in a way, and enough of the game and the AI was shown off that it doesn't dull the impressiveness of the actual TAS. Very well done overall! :D

    Despite the few hiccups, this has been an incredible demonstration of programming and a real testament to the FFX Speedrun community. I've followed the discord for years and have run the game a number of times, but the CSR has made this game far more accessible to people. Incredible job guys. Was nice to finally put a face to some of the names that I've been hearing of for so long.

    The triple save from Keepa was the most stunning part of the run

    • @SarkenHS
      @SarkenHS ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Keepa simply secretly loves showing off at RPG Limit Break.
      He was exactly as epic during the all the more epic run of a previous RPGLB a few years back where they runned the game with around 10 different runners taking turns (really good to see by the way, but it's a run of the original game so beware the 11 hours run ^^).

    This was amazing! I just quickly have to point out, the comment about aeon damage caps and destruction spheres is completely inaccurate. I played this game a lot and the destruction spheres only affect unlocking Anima. You have to get certain celestial weapons' first of two unlocks to get the aeon caps to be removed. Bahamut, Anima and the Magus Sisters are simply always uncapped.

    • @coderwilson

    Honestly impressed by how much has been going on during that run ^^
    Here's to hoping those numerous bugs / incidents helped you guys figure out more stuff about all of that ^^.
    Also, that new strat about Yuna on steroids almost seems unreal how easy it is actually to make it happens xD.

    This is SO cool. The musical anomalies are hilarious, like the Shoopuf theme during the Extractor fight. Hoping the HD version has sharper audio, the mask muffle on the commentary is kind of tough for my crummy ears (yay for good CCs!).

    • @zidaryn
      @zidaryn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the musical anomalies are due to the CSR (Cutscene Remover.) If you were playing without it you wouldn't get those issues. But the CSR cuts a TON of time off the run.

    "Debug Message: 'Waiting for Tidus/Yuna to stop laughing.'" - Don't we all?
    Though I wonder, when the TAS catches up on levels in Mushroom Rock, it only kills one enemy and flees. Even if that single enemy isn't enough anyways. I guess that is faster than killing two enemies or the group even though one needs to look at the Battle End screen twice?
    Anyway, I love this. This is exactly what I wish for the idea of TAS to become: not creating a movie on predetermined states, but applying knowledge and the tool reacting to the states.

    "This is Besaid island we are going to be picking up the vast majority of our party.
    The swimming jock here is Wakka. He's going to be kinda useful in a couple of spots.
    But more importantly we are going to be picking up Yuna, who is going to be one of the primary characters we use throughout the run.
    As well as Kimhari and Lulu, who are both... we Lulu isn't all that useful but Kimhari is!"
    Never have I heard such...sadness from anyone or anyTHING playing FFX, in that Lulu is useless compared to Kimhari....
    I know that for something like a TAS, there is obviously some other factors...but...Kimhari was always 'Lancet' and then 🤷

    • @SarkenHS
      @SarkenHS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be fair, even outside of TAS Lulu's (sadly) useless. I think her main utility is for her to grab big magic ONLY for Yuna to grab those said magic for herself.
      And well, the reason's quite easy to get: most characters have special uses, while Lulu's only use is doing damage. And since they are way more intense way to do that during the game, welp she's sadly left on the side ^^'.

    2 frames to dodge the lightning? What were they thinking when they programmed it?

    • @SarkenHS
      @SarkenHS ปีที่แล้ว

      The same train of though where they though one would need to score a "0 second" chocobo run by passing through every single bonus for the Tidus's weapon... And the joke is that it's the easier weapon to get (and the only one I got during my own play xD).

    • @jamesaditya5254
      @jamesaditya5254 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      that's basically what a TAS or Tool Assisted Speedrun is. This one goes a bit further than just programming a sequence of input and has simple AI that decides what to do under certain conditions so it kinda plays itself to an extent. It's a great showcase of what's possible in terms of the specific games. If you're interested I would suggest checking out a TASbot run of Celeste on GDQ

      If you are worrying about records then tas always have their own separate category as it would ruin regular speed runner categories.
      But tas is great to see what's possible in games and has even helped to show when some people have faked speed runs

    • @SarkenHS
      @SarkenHS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@latebloom9189 What's more, TAS speedrunners / programmers and "normal" speedrunners often exhanges strat and informations that the other found out that could be usefull for the other category, which is actually a good thing. After all, a lot of glitches, skip, etc. are found from bugs or bad manips, and it wouldn't be weird to encounter those during a TAS trial, etc.

    TAS is cool and all, but it just doesn't look impressive for RPG games (apart from menuing).

    • @SarkenHS
      @SarkenHS ปีที่แล้ว

      The impressive part of this tas is that it's AI managed. Aka it's not a "100% scripted play". The AI actually has to work and guess the best strat as the run progresses, and whatever the AI is doing is from an even greater work from the coder behind it.
      I do get what you meant by that 'tho, it's quite different from seeing TAS for let's say platformer games, etc.

  • @voodoochild5440
    @voodoochild5440 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Beside 'because we can' I don't see any reason to do and certainly not watch this.

    • @SarkenHS
      @SarkenHS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, on another side, there are ton of people who simply loves seing one speedrunner doing the exact same thing hundreds of times in a row. And let's be honest, when a Runner trains by doing full run repeating the same process, thus simply making wievers watch a "more or less record going in cycle" is it not more or less the same as seing a TAS at work? The main difference being that the Runner works in direct and the Programmer works behind the scenes. But in the end, both types of speedrunners have to work out a route, strat's, etc.
      So to answer your question, well, it would depend on why you watch a speedrun. Do you watch it to see the runne "struggle live"? (weird way to phrase it I know), or to watch a speedrun for the strats, the glitches, etc.? And to that question, well every one has their preferences ^^.
