Beautiful dogs. Congratulations one and all!! 👍 😊.... Have had a ball watching all weekend. Thank you to Crufts and You Tube for televising. Hugs from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️🐾🐕
The seven dogs were just magnificent. I think Mrs Jill Peak did a remarkably good job. The seven dogs are perfect illustrations of their standards. I am a terrier man but I try to be as unbiased as I can and I am very happy with the final result.
Only thing negative about all the crufts videos are that the winner is on the cover of the vid. Takes away the suspense. I was more interested in the reserved because of that. Adore the Newfoundland & owner.
my favourite was also the Newfoundland, gorgeous animal, though ive never had one, i had Great Danes, and won and was placed in champion shows, but my nerves could not stand the strain, and stopped... I'd like to see a Dane win this, they seem to be overlooked, which amazes me!
@@jessop5125, whatever point you were trying to make, you didn't. Also the WORKING line border collie is one of the healthiest and hardiest breeds you will find. To me kc borders aren't real, a border should never be bred for looks, it should be bred for working ability, temperament, health and intelligence. That's about all I've got to say about that forest.
i dont know enough about dogs conformation really . they all look fantastic . i will say the whippet is "flashy" looking . personally i like the Newfie.
Nothing wrong with a whippet winning, they're very beautiful dogs with lovely temperaments, besides the pointer, there really wasn't much more competition
No, he said japanese breeds. Which an Akita is. The American Akita was originally from Japan but the way they look today is made in the US. You also have the Japanese Akita.
Glad to see the sighthounds doing well. Here in the US competitions we've had a Greyhound (Gia) and a Borzoi (Lucy) do really well in the last couple years in various competitions. Appearance aside, there isn't a TON of inbreeding and bad breeding going on with these sighthound breeds, none of them are terribly common breeds here in the US. So they conform well to breed standard and also regarding health. I have an Italian Greyhound, and it's absolutely not uncommon here to see Italians living to 16+ years old. Maybe it's the very same other places, too!!!! Unfortunately, VERY well-loved but common breeds such as the Golden Retriever and the Labrador Retriever have become cancer-ridden and consumed with other health issues like severe hip dysplasia because they're such sweet yet POPULAR breeds - people breed for $$$ and don't pay mind to the lines. Good for this gorgeous Whippet, I'm thrilled! Way to represent the sighthounds!
Though I get what you are trying to say, please be aware that 100% unbiased does not exist. They can strive to be unbiased, but you are always judging on your past experience and most of the time people are not even aware they are biased where in truth everyone is. Best thing they can do is be aware of their own biases and try to avoid them.
a protester ran onto the stage at the award cerermony for the whippet. i havent seen tackles that hard or fast in the nfl. they cut it out in this video.
4/7 british breeds.. 2 of them made it. why am I not surprised? (don't get me wrong, I like whippets as well) I just think that there is a slight bias in the group judgings...
Actually it's because Whippets as a breed have a bigger gene pool numbers wise and their breeders do a great job in breeding to the standard. Don't blame the judges, blame the breeders of the other breeds that never win.
Whippet won because the judge bred them herself and was partial.. Akita should've won that.. No doubt a prejudice against status dogs coloured the judges opinion.
Yes I know that. But clearly _everyone_ doesn't know it if even the commentator of a show as big as Crufts gets them mixed up. Here in Finland Akita means Japanese Akita and the other one is called American Akita. Yet still some people can't tell them apart.
P Ariza Not everyone here lives in the UK or is a breeder so no not everyone knows. I was confused at first but it was explained somewhere during the stream.
The whippet did at least look fit-for-purpose, to be fair, unlike many of the breeds. And Crufts did make the right noises re rescue dogs and choosing 'responsible breeders' as opposed to ones that could potentially be from puppy farms. But, there's still an fundamental perversity to not only the acceptance but the promotion/reward of the over-exaggerated features that many breeds suffer from (short-noses, under or over-sized heads, deformed shuffling legs, sloping backs, etc - including in some cases an inability to give birth properly). All of these breeds were part of the Crufts circus too. There's also the cruel, hidden, pre-destined genetic problems with inbreeding that's associated with this form-over-function (and health) breeding too - as pointed out that the documentary. We can all go cooey over a nice looking dog in the spotlight, but let's not be blind to what can be behind it.
I'm not talking about all pedigrees Carol - just the darker and less pleasant aspects that exist behind, and are caused by, these kind of shows and misguided 'conformity' aspirations.
Travel light Lol your comment made me laugh. not all pure breed dogs are inbreed the only way to know for sure is to look at their papers Maybe keep the PETA propaganda to your self even mutts can be inbreed messes too I know this for a fact I've had three different mutts( GSD Mix, Border Collie/ Chow Mix And a triple Cross of Boxer/ Rottweiler/American Staffordshire Terrier over my life time and one pure breed a Bull Mastiff and i would pick the pure breed dog of any breed over a mutt any day of the week because you know what type of dog you are getting, and what type of temperament they should have. with a mutt its a crap shoot In my case with the GSD mix we got a hyper aggressive puppy that would nip me and my sister in the butt . with the Chow/ Collie mix she wasn't trainable and would chase cars the last one the triple cross was hyper unsocialized mess that would growl and try to bite you if you tried to take something away from her like a ball or a toy . the Bull mastiff pup might not have been a show standard dog but she was the perfect example of the breed standard and was the most gentle dog we have ever owned. I'm going to get a pure breed Rottweiler later on this year because the breeders in my area treat their dogs way better the people who have a ""ooops" litter
carol mckeowen Jup I think some topics like the way we breed animals should be adressed but I hate the way peta works. Often they make the problem only worse by making enemys out of people we could have worked toghether with.

The Whippet's owner and handler must be so proud! Congratulations!
Yes,but the real credit goes to the breeder imo.

That newfie was beautiful!
whippets are very hard to beat in the show ring all over the world
YES! I was rooting for the whippet. So sweet 🧡
So was I The whippet deserved to win.
Love the papillon!!!!
My favourite was the New foundland, just a gorgeous dog.
though i cannot fault the winner either, all of them are beautiful!
Yes had a blast and i was there !!!
I have a show dog and I can say that is a beautiful dog!
I wish they didnt spoil with the thumbnail who was the winner
Two absolutely wonderful dogs among a host of charming and beautiful competitors!
Whippets keep winning because their breeders keep breeding healthy animals that mirror the breed standard.
If that were true, Collies would win every year
The KC may be killing them..the ISDS are fighting it! :)
Breed standard doesn't automatically mean 'healthy'. Look at the brachiocephalic English Bulldogs and the spines of show type GSD's.

The judge was literally a whippet breeder. So...kinda biased there
i dont know enough about dogs conformation really . they all look fantastic . i will say the whippet is "flashy" looking . personally i like the Newfie.
Was rooting for Roo the stunning Border Collie. She was perfect 🐾
Jojo M 112345686aq3z quiero que me lleven las luces quiero que me ponga la música yo la música
Hey, they cut out the take down!
PS: was rooting for pointer or scottie but whippet was pretty too...
That Newfie was purrdy
Yeah it was!
The best in the World
Nothing wrong with a whippet winning, they're very beautiful dogs with lovely temperaments, besides the pointer, there really wasn't much more competition
Did he just say "Japanese" Akita? Hahaha
No, he said japanese breeds. Which an Akita is. The American Akita was originally from Japan but the way they look today is made in the US. You also have the Japanese Akita.

I am happy to say I was there
hope I can come next year
well done to the whippet and the pointer
Crufts Obedience
whillamina barnes and her border collie addie its no floozie
yes pointer is best
I still think the Pointer should be no 1!
es evidente que triunfó la elegancia, fineza y delicadeza del perfil envolvente de la raza canina.
I have show dogs my favorite dog was the pointer. Mine are Basenjis.
Can anyone tell me what happens to all the money the kc make ?
Funny how they cut out the person runningon
The stupid peta idiots?
I see bias. And these judges should go in 100% unbiased or else it's not a fair competition
The seven dogs were just perfect. Only one could win.

Absolutely. The judge bred whippets so was bound to choose dogs that appeal to snobbery.. Notice that a Staffy never gets through
The whippet! Whippet good!
nevermind i found it on twitter
Team Akita here!
SUper!
any update on the person who ran into the stage
who when and where
a protester ran onto the stage at the award cerermony for the whippet. i havent seen tackles that hard or fast in the nfl. they cut it out in this video.
I see, thanks
What was the reason for the protest?
MsChibiphoenix Of course they cut it out. If you give these a-holes attention they will have a reason to keep on doing their shite.

4/7 british breeds.. 2 of them made it. why am I not surprised? (don't get me wrong, I like whippets as well) I just think that there is a slight bias in the group judgings...
there is in pretty much all shows, a breeder friend of mine said she knows her dogs wont win best of group as whippets allways win it
What about 3 poodles in top 4 spots in the Utility Group. Ridiculous!
Actually it's because Whippets as a breed have a bigger gene pool numbers wise and their breeders do a great job in breeding to the standard. Don't blame the judges, blame the breeders of the other breeds that never win.
jpah Golden retrievers and Labradors have huge entries and gene pools. They’ve never won Crufts.
MrDoug41 Same for Border Collies.
The Newfoundland was robbed!
Did he report it?
Same breeds do well over and over again. Nothing unusual at all this year. Bland.
That's because their breeders do the best job of breeding dogs that mirror the breed standard.
I wouldn't say the bulk of showing GSD's are conformationally sound, but ok.
MrDoug41 yeah because the breeders are doing great at sticking to the standards. Doesn’t take a Sherlock to see that
Agree a bit but same with the hole best in show. Newfoundland, border collie, scottie...
Ugh I just don't like how they judge. It's too hard when each has so much to offer, each in their own way. They need to find another way. :(
"Japanese Akita" ehhh... what
It's american akita, not japanese!!! WHAT A SHAME!!!
They only said akita.
Whippet won because the judge bred them herself and was partial.. Akita should've won that.. No doubt a prejudice against status dogs coloured the judges opinion.
Judge looks at what breeds are correct or close to breed standard.

I've got her grandson! 😍
😀
I wanted to see the crazy peta man 😭
Go and look at the PETA page then, no place for it on here
That is not a japanise akita.
Ninni Koo Everyone knows that. The Japanese Akits is calles "Japanese Akita Inu" in the UK.
Yes I know that. But clearly _everyone_ doesn't know it if even the commentator of a show as big as Crufts gets them mixed up. Here in Finland Akita means Japanese Akita and the other one is called American Akita. Yet still some people can't tell them apart.

Don´t like the whippet, his eyes were somewhat asymetrical.
What happened to the protestors? Ah, of course - let's just focus on the in-bred dogs and not what's wrong with them...
Worth a watch for any dog lover th-cam.com/video/SqtgIVOJOGc/w-d-xo.html

another mistake by Kc
???? enlighten us, what mistake did they make
Whippet? What a let down.....
The best dog won.
What's wrong with the whippet winning? It's a lovely whippet.
Thanks for the spoiler, Alayna
Charlie, Don't read the comments first.
Indeed. Good advice.
