The northernmost reaches of Alaska contain a vast expanse of tundra wetlands, which are home to some of the highest recorded densities of breeding shorebirds in the Arctic. This is "America's Arctic," and millions of birds from all over the world flock to Alaska's wetlands every year to nest and raise their young.
Come along with Cornell Lab, Center for Conservation Media photographer Gerrit Vyn as he travels to the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska near Teshekpuk Lake to capture images of some of the region’s most iconic bird species.
America’s Arctic is one of North America’s last great wilderness areas, a critical habitat for migratory birds from around the world, and a treasure to be protected for future generations.
The Department of the Interior has issued a new rule protecting 13 millions acres of the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska, and are soliciting public comments until Nov 7, 2023. Please consider adding your voice of support here: www.protectthearctic.org/corn... .

US Congress should designate this area as a protected national forest so that all these birds don't lose their nesting grounds.
Congress is a service to self system. They won't do anything for anyone or anything but themselves...
We need to protect this area and others before they’re gone. It’s important people.
Thank you scientists❤
I'm from Argentina and I've made videos about birds species that reproduce in those lands and then come to my country to their resting period, thank you for showing this video it's very grateful to see this
Please put your videos to be seen by people everywhere.
@@bertanelson8062 They are already here on youtube
This is an amazing piece from start to finish. From the cinematography, to the music selection, nat pops, and overall editing. It's one of the best things I've seen on TH-cam.
🫡Thank you, Gerrit Vyn. For making and sharing this spectacular video with us all. How truly gifted you are! 🤩❤️😍🥰 🇺🇸
Absolutely gorgeous! Great cinematography and sound, and those birds are just stunning!
As a birdwatcher, thank you.
Absolutely love it! Truly an important and rare habitat that should be protected.
National Petroleum Reserve! China will probably end up with it sucking all the oil out of it!
Stunning imagery and such a useful brief on the birds that nest that far out from where they normally belong. We need more like this and these should make their way to schools so kids learn and know about them and why and how it is important
I’m so grateful to live in Alaska! It’s the most beautiful place in the world!❤
What an amazing video! The picture, sound and most of all the incredible journey these birds take each year! Awesome content.
I clicked on this by accident but I'm happy I did. Fantastic video ❤.
Loons are such beautiful, interesting birds.
I love loons. I hope to see one in person some day.

3:55 - 4:15 Travelling 11,265 kilometres without sleeping, resting, or eating sounds like a fictitious superpower! 🤯
8:22 Beautiful closing words, Sir. 👏🏾
❤ sitting here in South Africa and looking at this clip, if so nice. May it be protected for the next generations.

The best bird photography video that I have seen in TH-cam.
A fantastic piece.
I petitioned the BLM to NOT search for petroleum in this unique, important and treasured area. Thank you for the beautiful videography!

This video with the quality sound and images are absolutely amazing for the bird lovers ! 🤩
Just great! Thanks for this great insight into this beautiful nature!! Greetings from Austria.
Incredible. John. OSME.
Amazing video! The nests are so well hidden, are there any kind of precautions or methods used to make sure you didn't accidentally trample any of them while scoping them out?
Fantastic video. My first experience with a loon was in a retention pond next to a Walmart lol.
Amazing
Wonderful video as usual.
INCRÍVEL! SHOW!
Nice vid. Lucky are the people who can visit a truly untouched land like this! I had the chance to photography the Rudy Turnstone this past spring here on the New Jersey Coast. Not being a birder, had to look it up & the book says they head up to the Artic Tundra & show Northern Alaska. Some beautiful looking birds in this video.
God is amazing . We can't even know how many species of birds he created .
Thanks for these gentlemen's hard work so we can see these fantastic videos .
So beautiful💕
Beautiful 💙
Absolutely superb videography with a very important message. This habitat MUST be permanently protected and conserved, not sacrificed to fossil fuel profiteering.
Beautiful birds and beautiful filming ❤
Staggeringly beautiful. That Pacific Loon (Diver), oh my word. Thank you for making this.
Thank you for this beautiful view of the world's bird nursery. Of course, awareness must be raised to protect it. Russia also shares Arctic with USA maybe wildlife people there can be contacted. Remarkable to see the tundra from above appearing much like rice paddies in China.
Amazing!
Lets talk about the Fox. How many babys does she have. 😢
The lemmings, the eggs, the work.
Good luck mama fox.
Also, Sir, this is an includible shoot. Congratulations and
TY
The Wonderful Nature! How to be protected from humans...👽🗡️

Beautiful!!! Thank you for this content. I signed the petitions against Willow, Conoco Phillips and #46.
The American public needs more education on the importance of conservation of bird habitat. 🐦
MY LORD, HOW TRULY SPECTACULAR YOUR BIRDS 🦅 ARE! THANK YOU 🙏🏻 FOR ALLOWING MY EYES TO SEE SOME OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL CREATIONS.
ALL PRAISE AND GLORY TO YOU O LORD!! ☝🏻♥️😍🥰
You should make two videos. One with the distracting music and commentary and another with just the natural ambient sound 🎉
I meant most not must opps
You need to learn how to paddle a canoe, first move the seat forward to keep the bow down second learn a simple J stroke third your usingthat paddle bacwards. If your paddling solo in a regular canoe turn the boat around and sit in the bow seat backwards so you are now looking at the stern, that way you are more forward and you will keep the front of the boat down. It drives me nuts watching people paddle a canoe...If you learn the simple J stroke you can paddle must of the day from one side and not have to go from side to side, which makes it difficult to go straight. Also I use canoes and kayaks I use a kayak in open seas and canoes in creeks and rivers and lakes they can get into much tighter places and are far more quiet. Take me with you next time I'll teach you for free😊
I sure hope this doesn't enourage tourism to what seems a very vulnerable area
This should be humans church
Much of the stone art that I found in North Carolina is a depiction of a bird as the main outside image. Ancient people cannot carry around 20 different statues so they created a multi faceted style of art that I am trying to share with you so that you can actually learn the true history instead of relying on theory. The books before books were made of Stone.
One way to protect this type of area is to sign it over to Canada. They seem to have a better record at protecting wild areas than America does.
People can eat those birds in these video some kfc.
More birds less talk. The commentary is not needed.
