True, I fully agree with you. Fort is on the Kaimur Sandstone. And it was slip of to tongue. When you give interview, it happens and I meant to say vindhyan sandstone basically. Because for laymen it's not imp whether it is from Maihar sandstone or from kaimur Sandstone. But yes agree with my flaw.
@@santoshkpandey2076 Yes of course, I just wanted to confirm that it is Kaimur Sst. Mentioned Herring Bone structure to evince the palaeo-environment. Over all good video and it seems that you are in thick and thin of these rocks. About Maihar a lot has been said in terms of some early life. Once I read a cover story in Outlook magazine some 25 years back about it's promise to resolve evolution of early life. But could not follow. Will try to meet you any time in future.
Dear Prof. Alam, I am quite strange that you comented likewise. Vindhayn basin is always be promising basin for hydrocarbon exploration and as for as I know more than 12 well are there in central and western part of the vindhyan. On which we are working with ongc. It's quite interesting to know that vindhyan have world oldest hydrocarbon deposit. And you will get to know more day by day in coming months or years. But since last 20 years I know that yes vindhyan is being explored for HC. Thanks Regards
@@santoshkpandey2076 Yes there are shows of Gas and ONGC may be exploring it, but not much carbon content to be profitable. Perhaps it is early organisms which evolved with Vindhyan Sedimentation. Salkhan Lst is a good example. Do we have shales rich in enough Carbon to be experimented for fracking.
When you talk of dating sedimentary rocks then never give example of Zircon and U/Pb dating. This parent and daughter pair can be used for granites. For Sandstone it can be at the most K/Ar from Glauconite.
Well Prof Alam, thanks for your remark. But I would like to let you know that now if you want to date sedimentary rock, then you have to eaither search for tuff layer where you may go for U/pb or look for really uncontaminated black shale so u may go for Re/Os. These two techniques will give you absolute ages. But if you want to go sandstone then zircon will give you maximum depositional age. And if I truly talk about K/Ar so now a days it's kind of obsolete technique. Which barly anyone use these days. Infact many more Xynotime U/Pb and calcite U/pb techniques are very much reliable with above mentioned. Anyways thanks for your interest sir. Regards, SKP
@@santoshkpandey2076 Thanks for your reply and adding in my knowledge. I worked with sedimentary rocks during my Ph D later drifted to teaching Engg. Geology. So now much away from the real subject. Thought to meet you after seeing your video, as I use to visit Lucknow. It evinced interest and brought some new information and also reminded me of my student and field days. I worked mostly in Jodhpur Sst. The Zircon will never give age of a Sst, as it is detrital not diagenetic. There is some ruff in Semri Group at Chittorgarh hence may be dated.

Chittorgarh is on Kaimur sandstone with full of Herring Bone structure, indicative of beach deposits.
