I've found that using ultra/hydracal, in a two part mold, allows the latex to cure better being that latex cures through moisture evaporation and the plaster helps by drawing the moisture out.
Awesome! I didn't know cabosil was also useful for silicone. I thought just bondo. Now, to get myself to the hardware store for a respirator before even opening the container. 😆 Thanks for the tip!
Hi Cheyenne, this is a brilliant tutorial. I always wondered how ears were cast. If possible can I use some of your tutorial links in a rules guide I am writing for a new system I want to set up in Spain? Keep up the good work
Also, what colours can use to color the latex? Can I use make-up or pastel chalk or pencils and then seal them, or will the color come off? Very helpful tutorial btw!
I reallllyy want to do a character interview, but i've only been to two larps and I'm working on updating my costume. Will there be any more interviews in the future?
Hey! If you mix a little latex in with the acrylic paint then you can paint the ears with that, but it's usually better to paint the ears with the makeup you use on the rest of your face if you want an exact color match. You can always paint them with acrylic paint and then touch up the color with the makeup to blend it :)
CL Wilson you’d need to cast them in silicone, which is a completely different process after you cast your ears in stone- but there are tutorials online!
Dumb question: Can I just take the molded ears into a cup and pour the latex in the cup, then wait a few hours and then have the template? it sounds easier than pouring thick latex over the molded ears.
OMLARP I'm only 13 , is there a age limit for LARPING , I'm trying to get money for you LH 😉and I showed my friend LARPING AND SHES CRAZY FOR IT thank you
Lynn Rider hey! SOME larp games do have age limits; but many of them will let underage wizards play if they bring a guardian and sign a waiver :) And it never hurts to ask! I'm so glad you and your friend are interested!
Rose are red
Violets are blue

My ears need to be blue for a cosplay I'm doing. Will acrylic paint work as well to colour the Latex? or would it be better to paint it after?

Larp House thanks for the tip!! I'll let you know how it goes later this summer :)
There's a really good elf ear tutorial by Egg Head FX as well, if peeps are looking for a slightly different method.
If I want really long ears do I add a wire in it
What would you use if you were allergic to latex?

would I be able to use polymer clay instead of modeling clay?
Zoe Patten you can!

Larp House thank very much
I was just watching this again and noticed that there was just money lying around at 10:21...
I have no explanation.. ... Probably a bribe to the gods.
