    This was amazing. I love all your videos lol. As a 5’10 lady, I have a few thoughts in case we do a follow up tall girl workout video:
    - Shoulder work in the stretched position for all the times you get asked to grab things from or put things away on the top shelf
    - Doing seated or kneeling overhead movements if you have a low ceiling
    - Putting your feet out slightly in front of you for some extra core work when you use an over the door pull up bar, since you have to do SOMETHING with your lower legs to not touch the floor
    - Hip hinging for when you need to bend down to hug people, avoid tree branches as you’re walking, etc.
    - Jump squats/med ball throws as practice for all the times people will assume you’d be good at basketball or volleyball and ask you to join their games 😅

    Awesome tips! 😂 As a fellow short girl, I would add some climbing into your routine. Like when you have to climb onto a counter to reach the top shelf because you don’t have a stepstool or when you’re shopping and you can’t reach the top shelf so you have to climb the shelves 😂. Unless the aisle is full of people, and you don’t want them to see you climbing. I will find a tall person and say “excuse me tall person can you please help me”.

    My tip is mostly, don't be afraid to try to adjust things for your height/proportions. All the gym machines are annoyingly different, so sometimes you might have to ask for help (** shudders in millennial **) BUT it is great to actually get the most out of gym equipment when it is adjusted for your proportions. It will take some time to learn how everything can be adjusted and maybe some fiddling with more stubborn, well loved machines, but it often can be done! The leg curl and leg extension machine! Make sure your knee is around the lever point for the machine (it may require bringing the leg pad in and the seat forward.) The back extension machine can and should be adjusted! Etc. etc. Also-- adjust those safeties and rack heights if you need to. I've seen too many ladies try to unrack at a squat machine that was set up too tall for them!!!

    yessssss about the food thing...im 5'2 and 110lbs and i eat 3600-3800 calories a day on average, sometimes even 4000. perhaps its a mixture of my genetics but its also because i have more muscle from strength training so my metabolism is higher than average. I hate all this crap about eating less because you're shorter. Its not just anecdotal for me, as i know lots of other woman who eat as much as me too and are petite

    The other argument I would like to make too is if you are over weight and short there is no way you are only eating 1,200-1,500 cals !!! You would be eating a lot more calories than that ! So yes you can cut 200-500 calories for a deficit. I was listening to April Whitney on a podcast this week (She is one of the “short girls” train differently for petite women) saying all of this stuff!
    I really like some of her content but she definitely has some errors.

    I’m 5’7” but it feels short since I used to be 5’9”. At 64, I’ve lost a couple of inches. I didn’t think it would make a difference, but it does. I have to use a step stool now. So annoying lol.

    Machine tip: if it doesn't adjust far enough, grab an ab mat and use it as a lower back cushion to push yourself more forward. I'm 5 foot even and I have to stick something behind my back on all of the seated leg machines except the leg press to make it fit right. Also if you don't want to use props on the hack squat, you can get a better range of motion by putting your feet closer together and more towards the bottom of the platform. It works more glute and less quad to do it that way but eh, whatever. I don't want 200+ pounds slamming into my shoulders if a yoga block slips off. And with the trap bar, you can take the smaller diameter weights from the bench press area so it's lower to the ground. Or (not for beginners) jump with it for a more demanding workout, even with an eh range of motion at the bottom. Personally I wouldn't flip it over because my hands get sweaty and there's no grip on the underside.
    Bonus petite fitness tip: practice jump squats with a medicine ball for when you have to chuck something back onto a high closet shelf.
    Also PLEASE do a video on how food for petites to correct misinformation. I have no idea what in the starvation hell this broscience is coming from that I should be eating toddler calories as a muscular and very active adult, but even my whoop is telling me to eat half as much as what my maintenance actually is. I'm concerned that other active/muscular women may undereat because they've been given a "maintenance" that's way too low by a calculator or app.

    • @JustinaErcole
      @JustinaErcole  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good tips! All the trap bars I’ve seen have grip on the lower handle as well, so I’ve never had an issue flipping it over.
      And I chatted about nutrition in my original Petite Fitness video from last month if you want to check that out :)

    Here's my shorty tip for anyone working out at home and doing glute thrusts on a too-high sofa: Sit on a yoga block. :) I did this for years but still found the couch annoying because I keep sliding down it, so I bought a plyometric box off Amazon and love it. Now I can do glute thrusts on the 12-inch side and step-ups on the 14 or 16-inch sides.
