  • Today I'm going to be taking a look at the new Oplà IoT kit from Arduino. We'll go through the unboxing and see what's included and then have a look at the basic example code and my first impressions of the kit.
The kit includes a MKR IoT carrier, which is the big round board featured prominently on the front of the box, as well as the MKR WiFi 1010 Arduino board, cables for the sensors and battery, a motion sensor, a moisture sensor, a plastic enclosure, and a USB cable.

How many items can I control with the carrier board? I need water sensor triggering a small water pump to water plant until it senses moisture, Then it turns off pump.
I already have the blue 8 switch bar you show ina different video. I hope instructions uses the 8 switch bar.... if not. CAN YOU ATTACH YOURS VIA VIDEO TO SHOW ME? Close up clear view of wiring connecting.
I have little money. Is there a CHEAPER ARDUINO PKG OR ITEMS “”ONLY”” NEEDED?
I can buy pumps amazon or AliExpress. Small diameter water tubes also, hopefully.
Is there a water proof case for it? Or just use plastic container that seals shut....

Its got two relay outputs and two analogue input ports. The carrier board already has the relays built into it, so you don't need an external relay board to drive the pumps.

Lol that's an IPS round display, not OLED😂

Arduino's product page list it as an OLED display. I haven't looked into the exact part/model number so this may be incorrect.

@@MichaelKlements just look at it, backlight bleeds through the FPC, panel looks dull all this enough to justify its not a freaking OLED. I dont know why arduino did this.

Little bit sad, that the neccessary of online cloud system. I hate to invest regularly in any kind of subscription. One reason for me and a lot of others not to join this IoT thing.

I agree it's not ideal but unless you've got a static IP at home you generally have to use an external server for IoT projects and this costs money for the provider to host on an ongoing basis, so they have to recoup the cost somewhere.
