I know people have mentioned this already but, the duke's warning is indeed the worst of the three, only because he tells you he'll "replace" you if you keep failing, but then gives you to the fremen as a sacrifice. At least the baron tells you outright what he'll do to you and the executrix give you fair warning beforehand, and then tell you your contract will be terminated before following through on their threat. So yeah, the Atreides one is definitely the most sinister.
@daemonicpotato Based on the book I would say that Leto was more of a good guy. There is this whole part, where they inspect the spice plant and the Harkonnen hijacked their carryall and Leto makes sure that everyone survives to the detrement of all possible spice that may be saveable. I think this scene serves to establish Leto as an idealist. However the Atreidis suffer a crushing defeat under Leto. Paul then becomes a way more pragmatic Duke. I seem to recall him being fine with lots of civilian casualties in the final battle on the Emperor/Harkonnen troops.
@@lizardemperorkorbac4281 I would argue that it was more of a different way of achieving control. Atreides did make an effort early on to win over the local populace and gain Desert Power through Fremen friendship. Add to that the fact that it was this house MO: their strongest suit was popular support as opposed to the blatant wealth and scheming of house Harkonnen. It's still pragmatic and still relies on the strong suit of the house. They still were part of a scheming in a snakepit that Landsraad is.
@@lizardemperorkorbac4281 excellent observation. Also, remember, Leto is known as the "red" duke, and they have him paraphrase Orwell, of feeling a desire to abolish all class distinctions, so I think you can draw parallels to Communism and the idealism behind it, with the Baron's raw, hedonistic hyper-capitalistic greed on the other end. But the Ateides are also ruthless, manipulative aristocrats who rule their subjects primarily through soft power, while also using violence against rivals. That's why I chortled at the cashgrab prequels talking about Atreides "democracy."

I have to admit, I love almost all the endings for all three houses. The only one I think could be adjusted is the Ordos one since it paints them as immensely cruel, but that is just my opinion.

he did replace you. He didn't say he would leave you alone
The Ordos one is just funny. The guy doesn't even show pain more a "Sigh..bored. Why won't they just let us die? " in a cookie voice :P .
At least the Atreides and Harkonnen let the player die
love how even the "good guys" Atreide still send you to die if you fail.

Dune is about a bunch of dogs (houses) biting each other.

Paul Atreides literally started holy war and is responsible for death of at least 60 billion people in the second book.

Losing repeatedly.
This is rubbish and the product of a sick mind. The fremen need to get rid of these evil things.
