Ovendonkey got me into Mirror's Edge speedrunning back in the early 2010s as a casually runner on the PS3 ans Walrus Tutorials helped me to get relatively good :'D My PB stands only at 47minutes though and I highly doubt I could get under 40min. This video was really interesting, thank you :)

I have spent countless hours playing this game. I've been an offline runner since 2012 when I first started playing Mirror's Edge religiously on the xbox 360. Only when I got my PC in 2015 did I learnt everything from Bluestalin about speedrunning. Being hyped by Req's Hype Starts, watching old Oven Donkey vids, seeing voetiem kick ass. Watching Black Belt Ginga Ninja do glitchless. That one time the game got a lot of attention because of "Is that a glitch?" meme at that one GDQ. Mirror's edge has been the best game I've played with the best community there is. Mirror's Edge for life~!

I’ve been gawking at al the runners of this game since I first bought it back in the 360. I remember playing it and racing against some of the higher ranking ghosts on the leaderboards and the ghosts would seemingly float through the air!! So that prompted me to look up videos I then discovered kick glitches and was immediately 6hrs deep in TH-cam videos of all the glitches and best times. What I’m saying is this game is nostalgia HEAVY for me and probably my favorite game from my childhood.
I played this game religiously during this whole era and I had NO IDEA there was such an avid speedrunning community around it. Kind of sad really that I missed out but very cool to see such an in-depth video about it all.

Can i just say this video was amazing! As someone who grew up playing mirror’s edge and still does play it now I got reminded of so many memories. Especially oven donkey who was one who really inspired me to try and get good at mirror’s edge. Awesome video! I've never really been a part of the community as my main game's always been something else. My off hand game however, has been Mirror's Edge since 2013. I remember starting to grind for solid times on chapters and time trials around 2015 - and seeing Phillotrax on the EA leaderboards the same week grinding the same trial. I just couldn't even seem to beat him. I downloaded his ghosts to look at his strats, realising that there was a lot more than meets the eye to simply keep the momentum. I found his YT and discovered the Medge community as a whole, long after watching Oven's videos explaining the mechanics years before that - and I've been following it pretty closely ever since. Just not grinding very hard myself. To this day I still can't break a sub 35 due to these ridiculously hard skips mentioned in the video, and my PB is a 2014-15 route pretty much. I have about a thousand hours put into it and have yet to manage a canoli. This obviously comes down to me never setting my main game(s) aside to really refine my mechanics and get to grinding for more than chapter runs, so I mostly lurked while the community worked on the segmented. That video blew my mind. This was a nice trip down memory lane and as I didn't know much of this either, coming from someone watching from the sidelines, it was an awesome hour to watch of new content too.
i recently got back into mirrors edge and found this video! since i listen to podcasts, im always trying to beat the game before an episode of it ended, so i tried using strats from this video and i finally did it! incredible and inspiring video, thanks!
Awesome video. I didn't Speedrun it in years and have an awesome time of 52min on PS3. XD I was just thinking about going back to it, and maybe trying a bit on pc. Now I think I have to go back to it. This community came up with some of the smoothest speedruns to watch, and I hope it will continue as such. And maybe someday a sub 20 segmented ? I don't even now if it's even in the realm of doability, but ME runners made it through so many impossible starts that it wouldn't surprise me. ^^
Great question! Just glancing at my Twitch follows, the most active runners on Twitch right now are Hekigan, Meteos_Probably, CookieBunny, and BingoBongos. Vortexxed recently came back to Any% as well. If you're betting on seeing the next world record, though, definitely keep an eye on Voetiem and Req (even though they're not streaming much right now).
