  • About time I did something with these parts laying around. Our 1993 240 wagon is due for a center support bearing replacement.

You got it David! We only have 6 240's at the moment, hopefully we don't burn through the content too quickly!

Another approach when installing the new bearing onto the driveshaft is to put the driveshaft into the freezer for a hour or two and put the bearing in the oven at 150-175 Deg F. This will make the bearing easier to mount.

You are absolutely right! Its amazing how much material and change due to heat or cold

Your humor seamlessly weaving together and solving another problem, if you could describe a 240 as a problem?

Another fine video! Certainly some creativity involved, but that's just how these jobs go without dealer specific special tools.
When I am at the point of barely touching the gas pedal and engine braking while driving my Amazon, I get a propeller sound and feel some vibration. I suppose it is the drive shaft flopping around. The parts are new, but I have observed that the bushings for the center support bearing have larger diameter holes than the pins they slide into. Thus, it can move around some. Might need to make my own bushings that have no play.

Driveline vibration is usually subtle but annoying enough to be a problem.

As always, great video. I don’t think that fuel line repair came from factory. I’d double check the work for safety. Nice job. That sts mount looks pretty beefy. Great comparison.

How many ft/lbs do the four bolts at the front of the driveshaft need to be torqued to? I'm about to replace the center bearing on my 240 but I have not been able to find the torque specs for those bolts
