I did mine from the outside with a small Torx to pop off the plastic lamp covers by inserting the bit into the the little side holes, carefully feeling my way how to best pop each cover off without breaking it - and the bulbs are right there for the replacing. 10 minutes all in all and I am not an expert by any means. Used a rubber glove to put in the new ones to prolong bulb life. 2002 model so I don't know if it works the same way on the 2006.
