    To me, having someone with this kind of swing speed do the testing, really tell the majority of golfers very little. That speed is great but the average golfer is going to have a completely different experience with these clubs, especially with the ZX4 and ZX5. I am very interested in these irons, but what I like is seeing Thomas swing the club at lower speeds that are more compatible to what most golfers have. Appreciate the content, but this really misses the mark for me.

      Plus his smash factor was Pooh He swings 100 and the best performance with distance and shot dispersion was zx4?!?! That’s bananas

      Im a mid-high handicapper probably between 12- 18 depending on the day. I’ve been playing 2 years so need help with my inconsistency. I swing 7 iron 93ish when I’m fully warmed up. I get I’m in probably quite niche category as a golfer but I do think as more younger people take up the sport higher swing speeds is going to be more of a thing amongst higher handicap golfers. I’ve tried to swing it slower but it throws off my tempo and timing. Just got fitted for and ordered a set of the ZX4’s. To be honest I’d like to see some reviews on clubs that offer forgiveness but aren’t absolute rocket ships. Not everyone with a quicker swing speed is a single digit player

    Nice review, as usual.
    It will be nice to see also the test made at slower swing speed (eg. around 80mph), especially for the stronger lofted irons like the ZX4, as it would help a lot to understand the spin rates and the landing angles that older players like me would get.
    Thanks again for your nice job.

    Played ZX7 mkII last year. Took them out in favor of a neater looking Blueprint S. After 3 rounds the BP-S are out and my trusted ZX7 are back in. And the move back to them was seamless. No wonder over 100 player on all tours (PGA, Seniors, Korn, Epson, LIV, LPGA, DP, Asian) play the Srixon ZX7 iron.

      ZX7s are fantastic, no doubt. Despite all the tour play, still not getting the attention they deserve!

    Who swings a 7 iron 100 mph, even if they can? 99 % of your viewers have no idea now what yardages they will get with these.

    I have been playing Srixon ZX4 MK II irons for 2 weeks now. I was reluctant to change, but a club fitter told me that with them the numbers look the best (now I am playing steel regular shafts, where I was playing before light carbon fibre shafts - which I loved). At first, I was frustrated, because I saw ball trajectories I've never seen in my life. So I went to my pro, who immediately fixed the issue. Boy, that was a change....
    3 days ago I holed out from the fairway for an eagle on the most challenging PAR4 in Poland.
    Today, I scored Hole In One.
    My shots became longer, and straight, straight, straight. My bad shots do not lose that much distance anymore.
    So I can say, I would highly recommend these clubs. I love them and feel so confident with them.

    Really like to see a comparision with ZX5-7 with i230 and new Cobra King Tour and CB see how they fair against each other. These are my top pics possibly for my next iron set. Still waiting on the JPX923 Forged to throw in.

    I was super excited to know more about the new ZX range. I currently play Mizuno's but a blended set of ZX5/7 MkII with maybe a ZX4 in a 4-iron would be money. The similarities across the line reminds me of the Apex 21 line and the abililty to blend those as well.

  • @scottw9267
    @scottw9267 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    For anyone watching this and looking into the zx5s... stay away from 4i. There's just not enough loft difference between the 5 and the 4. I'm probably chucking my current 4i for a zx4 4i.

  • @chuckyz2
    @chuckyz2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I play the ZX7's and they are the club in the line. Sound, feel and most importantly...feedback. Anyone serious about becoming a better ball striker vs getting forgiveness on inconsistent striking, get a cavity or even a blade. GI irons ruin your chances of ever becoming the best you are capable of. Feedback is important. Getting instant feedback on even slightly missed shots, teach you to catch it in the nuts. In a round, that feedback will get you back in line sooner. I have been playing forever. I got to a level of 5 to 8 hdc. Stayed there for 5 years with GI iron. Tried the ZX7's and hated them. I stuck with them and next thing you know, I can feel exactly where I am hitting the face, then started hitting the nuts more than ever. My hdc went to scratch very rapidly then below.
    Hogan swing and cavity solid forged irons You won't regret it.
    For realistic yardages
    7 iron 165 on a smooth swing. That bites. The yardage is always 165 on a good swing. Very very consistent.
    I play Hybrids after that and highly recommend everyone to do the same unless you are a pro. They are twice as good as irons.

    I'd like a test to show how accurate trackman is in its impact tracking vs a simple impact tape. The last shot with the zx4 he says it was low and off the heel and yet trackman showed almost middle. I would guess based on the result set, that it was in fact low and off the heel as he stated.

    Seeing someone hit a game improvement club with a swing speed of high 90s doesn't bring relevance to the target buyer. Most amateur golfers don't hit their driver 100. Would be great to see an average golfer hit the zx4

    • @Steve-a-Reno15
      @Steve-a-Reno15 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Fully agree. No relevance to the typical customer of 2nd swing. Would be interesting to compare a 70’s 80’s and 90’s speed golfer. Has to be doable and can still fit in a 15 min video.

    • @2ndswing
      @2ndswing  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Absolutely understand. We'll do some brand vs brand testing soon with irons in that category with a more reasonable swing speed.

    • @timmacivor1963
      @timmacivor1963 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why? Your personal delivery numbers still won’t be the same as the tester so you can’t determine whether they will be right for you or not. What do you actually want an online review to show you because it’ll never be whether the clubs will fit you or not!

    • @johnkokott8570
      @johnkokott8570 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Tim MacIvor makes a huge difference in trajectory, spin numbers, etc. I understand that club delivery is not a static thing, but comparing a 99 mph swing to say a 80 mph swing speed will produce dramatic differences regardless of delivery.

    • @timmacivor1963
      @timmacivor1963 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnkokott8570 trajectory and spin are determined by delivery (AoA, path, face angle, dynamic and spin loft) not by speed. If you’d said distance then yes speed matters. I still don’t understand what you’ll learn about the club from seeing somebody with less speed that’ll help inform you?

  • @jesscollinson6720
    @jesscollinson6720 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great Demo. Nice to see the miss hits to compare across the face for each model. I'm not clear if the ZX5 is forged face, body or not... If not, do you know why? It also sounded like the ZX7 and based on the miss hits, it has some good forgiveness to it, thoughts? Also would be great to see simalar test with miss hits and a slower swing speed to see what the numbers show. Great job, thanks, keepem comin!

    • @2ndswing

      Thanks for the question! Yes - that would be a similar comparison. In those sets, you'd have ZX5 or Apex 21 as the model of the shorter irons, then ZX4 or Apex DCB as the longer iron.

    Got a set of the previous model the took ages to come. I've had them 6months and can't get in with them. The sell value 2nd is awful. Full set cost me £1140. Played with them around 10 times. 6 months on trying to sell them on and I can't give them away.

    • @hughsheehy4361
      @hughsheehy4361 ปีที่แล้ว

      If they were a full set of ZX5 then there is quite a lot of bounce in their wider soles. It tends not to suit 'pickers' who are used to picking the ball clean off the surface. These irons tend to suit 'diggers' or divot takers more. And, yes, they do tend to lose value quickly.

  • @alexmills1329
    @alexmills1329 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m a younger golfer and it was nice to see someone hitting the ball with a swing closer to me speed. I understand it upsets some other people who swing slower but 100 mph isn’t insanely fast and it shows how the club plays with speed.

    • @scottw9267
      @scottw9267 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @2ndswing absolutely. Keep going with that. I find this video more helpful for me than watching Thomas pipe 20 straight shots with a 2 iron within 5 yards of each other. (But those videos are impressive)
      I will say that maybe you hit more balls (10 or so) and present data with the full population to see forgiveness and then take out outliers to see what the club "standard" performance is. That slice on the zx5 did seem to skew the data for it. Just a thought from a random viewer.
