  • Not knowing the condition of the engine, we started to dismantle the top end and found the piston to have its usual scores and grooves as most 2 strokes have. So the plan would be to replace the piston and possibly go oversize? Whilst it is on the bench we will look at the clutch, an easy inexpensive upgrade.

What was it you hammered on to get that screw/bolt out?

Hi. It's an Eze out the goes over the Philips head. I just tap it to get a grip. As you unscrew bolt it grips the bolt as it has reverse jaws. Like standard easy out but works on the outside of the bolt.

Just wondering what size piston you have in it as I’m rebuilding one but struggling to find parts.

Also try Yambits in UK. I'm still trying to find where I got the piston from. I'll let you know.

I need to know how time it

Very long process for me as I didn't have spark! But I found the timing was the cause of no spark. I went through the manual several times and it say's set piston to 1.8mm BTDC. Check points are just opening with timing advance set to full "on". After doing this many times and still not running, although did start I threw the manual away......
I set the points gap at the highest point of opening to .015mm. A fiddly job as the flywheel is rotated further around so harder to access points. I then set the dial gauge to check piston height to 2.2mm rather than 1.8. I checked the points were just opening with a thin feeler gauge around .005mm. Points were just beginning to open. I had good spark and bike started and ran very smoothly. The manual doesn't talk about points gap and then timing?
