    Even though you didn't specifically talk about it, I love that you kept track of all your units... inches * rows/inch = rows... perfect. :)
    Plus, just useful info for... if I ever get a machine like that!

    I see that your machine came from the same place as mine, although I bought mine from the lady who got it from dantib. Thank you so much for demonstrating how to do the calculations. I hand knit socks so it all made sense to me. May I ask how many stitches per inch you get?

    This is kind of cool. How does one get started? Find a machine, etc? Make more vids!

    May I ask what kind of yarn and what the weight of it is that you are using for the socks? I love the colors and designs that kind of naturally develops with it.

    Thank you for the explanation. But how do you know how many stitches to cast on? You mentioned 60 stitches in your other video (the making of the sock). 60 would never fit my foot if I hand knit the sock... You are limited by the number of needles in your cylinder, right?

    What weight yarn did you use for your swatch in this video? Is it the same weight as the yarn in your video about how to knit a sock on your vintage machine?

    • @EhKay3
      @EhKay3  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used a fingerling weight yarn. It is the same weight as the yarn used to make my socks. I have used worsted weight wool as well but then I have to change the cylinder in my machine to accommodate the thicker yarn.

    I wish you had a contact email set up ... it would seem to me you would be about the only one to help me obtain proper socks for my feet ... I currently have two ladies who make them for me but at time I think they are clueless as to my requests ... on another of your videos you showed the some of the socks you made ... the first one on the left and the last one on the right is basically what I need...
    I have looked everywhere and to many people ... none have filled the bill so to speak ...

      Looks like EhKay isn't in the business of selling socks to random folks, at least not as of this comment: th-cam.com/video/C3tJLBShS8U/w-d-xo.html&lc=UgxbVIiAQrQxDcX6nZp4AaABAg.8s3gyH1rHBV8s3hSKxWnfr
      Not all making is for sale. I hope you find something from someone both able to and interested in filling your needs.

    How do you adjust the girth of the sock?
    What machine do I use? ( Please do not tell me the $1300-$1800 one that some guy is making now!!)
    Where are machines to make socks that Real People can afford?

    • @EhKay3
      @EhKay3  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The girth or width of the sock can be adjusted by adjusting the tension or some people add cobweb Lycra to their sock for stretch.
      Sadly there are not that many of these vintage machines left hence the large price tag. I believe there is one company that still makes a few of these but I don’t know what they charge.

    • @AndersJackson
      @AndersJackson ปีที่แล้ว

      You pay for the quality. To make machines with that much iron are really expensive.
      There are plastic ones, that are more flimsy in rigidity, but at least the cost is less.
