Avril! You had me worried. Until each of these restorations has passed your safety inspection, I just can't trust them. Glad to see you're still on the job.
Nice job! I seen one of these as a kid. My uncle used to make his own wine (he was Italian) and grew his own grapes and pressed them, and keep the wine/juice in wooden barrels in the cellar. He also had a garden and grew hot peppers he would pickle and keep jars and jars of peppers in the cellar too, next to the wine barrels.
Cat timestamps(might have missed some): 21:46 ~ coming in a little late, it's the orange fluff, Avril! 24:00 ~ Fluffy assistant checking the quality 24:25 ~ how to make a nice ending, add a cat Was munching on some grapes while watching this. No fig for me though. Thanks for the video! Nice work. God bless you!
Interesting project, makes one appreciate the work that went into making wine in olden days. Considering the size of this vat, a bottle of wine can take quite a while to make. Kudos for the grape juice.
That Hammerite paint is some pretty good stuff. I use it regulary since it came out in the eighties. I have some pieces of wood painted 30 years ago and stored outside. They still look like freshly painted. The only offset is its very long cure time. I let everything rest for at least a month before further assembly. Just till it doesen´t smell anymore. After that its extremely reliable.....btw...top restoration.
I must tell you. My work shop has never ever, ever been that tidy! Your video editing and presentation of processing the build is nice. I have only liked a few cats. That said yours seems the exception. So much personality in four legs. I bet it’s a good hunter. Be well in this time. Til next time.
That looks great. I’m glad you didn’t varnish the wooden slats and that you kept it “rustic” it still looks antique yet but “clean antique” if you know what I mean 👏👏
Loved how you kept the wood looking worn. Also loved the engineering in this device, they really knew how to make things last back then. Your restorations are awesome! Thankyou!
j'adore vos choix de restaurations, tous ces vieux outils auxquels vous redonnez vie, c'est juste extraordinaire, Bravo vous avez beaucoup de talents ! 👍👍
WOW what a great project. Lots of work removing old rust and grape crud so I hope these big projects pay better than the little ones. Watch that cat as they tend to over indulge. Excellent work!
Beautiful work, dude! Really nicely done! 😃 Take good care of your cat! I just lost mine... She was 16 years old. 😔 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! Cats included! 🖖😊
J'ai adoré ce travail très compliqué parce que plein de petites pièces très jolie de résultat et pleins de souvenirs de cette presse a raisin un résultat magnifique .ça avril qui fait le contremaître
An excellent restoration , and just in time for harvest, they still sell exactly the same press here in the Lot, I thought Avril was going to drink your grape juice there, better go and pick some more grapes! Stay safe ! Chris B.
Awsome! It is pretty close to the cider season in my country too, so this will realy come in handy if i manage to find one, now i know how to restore it properly! ha ha
Yes it gives flavour too like different barrels. Works the same. And don't expect your drink being made out of clean fruits except if its top shelf stuff
@@jarlbalgruufthegreater1758 lol. I don't even know where to begin with this. That's not how it works. I'm a bourbon drinker. I've been to several distilleries and wineries. The barrels are raw wood, sometimes charred at most... They do not contain axel grease, rust proofing sprays, pesticides, paints, etc, nor are they made with wood that has been heavily attacked by wood boring insects like this press was. The distillation process is extensive and clean to sterile from beginning to end, so I'm not sure where you get your low expectations from for clean fruit. The only difference between the standard brew and the "high end" stuff is aging and marketing. That's it.
Also, how would you market your Axel Jelly Burgundy? "Smooth, charred, floral notes with a hint of insecticide perfectly melded with rustproofing, and a healthy splash of candied apple bolt grease? LMFAO
6:35 it's almost as if he can communicate through his craft. I get a sense that he's trying to tell us something, like "treat they Neighbor as thyself," Or "live life to its fullest". Oh well, if only I could speak his language...
I have a press similar to this one. It has washers under those securing pins. They look original. Maybe yours had those, but in the past thery were lost. Perfect restoration nevertheless. Big like.
The next time you need to paint a shaft instead of wrapping your tape around the shaft, tape down the length instead. Makes it easier to remove the tape. PS thanks for the videos I enjoy them.
I have a lot of Russian tools, 19 - 25 years old, there is very little German, there are 2 sewing machines Singer (but they are normal, they still sew), the paint is peeled off of course
Commenting as I am watching. Would Hammerite and can spray paint be enough to stop the growth of the pitted rust? I thought etcher primer would be what to use before the top coat paint.
Drink moderately ! Even more if you’re a cat 😽
Tu nous as manqué. 1 mois sans vidéo 😀
😹 😹 😹 😹 😹

LADB Restoration . How can I send you a pair of photos of two Antique Grape Press?
My email is on the description ! ☺️
My grandparents still have one in perfect condition and they still use it
What a very clever mechanism! And it is so satisfying to see a beautiful machine brought back to life! Happy to see my favorite inspector, as well 😺
Avril! You had me worried. Until each of these restorations has passed your safety inspection, I just can't trust them. Glad to see you're still on the job.
You did a great job. Your channel has the tools to recover very old and strange

I am fully expecting them to record a video using all the Vinyard equipment they've restored to actually make wine.

Hmmmm... Do you think, perhaps, that someone is a bit jealous of Avril's popularity? Why else would she be relegated to the end of the video...?

I was beginning to get worried for a moment, but then, the inspector showed up!
Such beautiful, meticulous work. So satisfying to see all the pieces on the table all clean and shiny and ready to put back together. Love it.
It’s always a joy to see Avril inspecting your work!
Perfect job buddy. I'm getting ready for it too. I have bought it for about 10 years and I haven't gotten to it yet :)) Thanks Radek
Thank you Radek !!

I have a quick question, do people request you to do this and send in something or do you find things to restore?
I really like how you restored and reused the old planks so it kept the rustic old look.
Desde Venezuela lo saludo, tremenda restauración de esta prensa para uvas, lo felicito.
Thats what happens when you do the thing you like, perfect work
Excellent work👍👍👍 . Thanks for sharing. It reminded me of when my father used to make wine at home and I would do the pressing.

Beautiful work! Polishing all those bolts takes patience and dedication. Avril approves!

That looks great. I’m glad you didn’t varnish the wooden slats and that you kept it “rustic” it still looks antique yet but “clean antique” if you know what I mean 👏👏
Awesome! I like that you try to keep old parts as much as possible.
Great job on such a beautiful piece of antique machinery, They certainly knew how to engineer things back in the day, Avril is still a sweetie.

Phwww. I thought we may not have seen Avril. Nice job and you answered all my questions about how it works. Thanks Stuart 🇦🇺

OH NOOOOOO! you removed all the stuff needed to make a great wine: rust, rotten wood, dust and paint chips! :)

Hihi 😉
Merci pour cette vidéo,
un bon jus de raisin fraichement pressé c'est excellent !!
Very pretty restoration. I'm guessing you are not planning on ever using it to press grapes since you stained the wood.
Excellent work!! Well done 👍👍👍
Muito legal esse canal, gosto por tudo, e também por não usar fundo musical ainda bem. Assim é melhor a concentração.
I love your supercatvisor!
Avril is the official quality controller !
Great to see the old new again.
Très bon travail de sauvetage ! Et comme dès toujours, Avril est précieuse.
A fantastic restoration! I bet you can make apple cider with the same press. Of course Avril had to taste test the grape juice.
An excellent restoration , and just in time for harvest, they still sell exactly the same press here in the Lot, I thought Avril was going to drink your grape juice there, better go and pick some more grapes! Stay safe ! Chris B.
Thank you you Chris ✌️👌 glad you liked it !

It is pretty close to the cider season in my country too, so this will realy come in handy if i manage to find one, now i know how to restore it properly! ha ha
Excellent work as always!
It turned out really well!
wow? was any of the paint, stain or oil used for this food safe?? hope its used for display only, but great otherwise.
Zinc may be removed much easier using 70% vinegar acid.
I have one at my house that we use yearly when grapes are fine. It's very fun tbh
Question... doesn't all that grease and wax and rustproofing and whatever else you put on this device get in the grapes?
Yes

Magnifique restauration bravo .
I dont know Im always hungry when I watch this xD Superfect restoration!!!
Well! I am getting tired of waiting until the end to see Avril. He’s my favorite. Give him some loving from me, please.
BrazilLady - I agree. Give him his own channel. Or at least a personal video, I say.

It looks awesome, l am sure that you are going to put it to work as soon as the grapes are ready
Great job! Please let us know how the wine turns out!
Mixing the old parts with the new parts gives it more character
You are perfect in your job 👍👍👍

06:37 - one way of economising on blasting medium!
That's such a big screw thread. maybe more of an apple press originally?
Nice work !!
Hi , i have the same press at home but it works .
J'ai bien cru qu'Avril ne se pointerait pas le bout du museau. Aussi, excellent travail !
Have you tried AeroKroil? We use it in aviation and it it very effective.
Very nice work you must be proud of this
Nice job getting the barrel bands off without scuffing up the bands.
Beautiful color,nice restoration.😎👍
