As long as this channel remains 'Dave's World of Fun Stuff' and not turn into Dave's World of Despair' I think we can call that a win, wishing you the best Dave, thanks for sharing the things you do and I'll see you on the next video.
I just paused the video, before it even started... Davey, glad you're back, and doing whut you do best: teaching lessons about Life, the Universe, and Everything, slyly disguised as guitar repairs, and set ups... Thanks again M'Brutha...
My local L&M is doing curb side sales for things like strings thankfully, and thanks to you... this legally blind guy is now able to do my own basic setups... my axes are playing great. All the best Dave, and stay safe, a fan from the Maritime’s.
Julian Park Charlottetown PEI. They are “open” by which you call and say what you want, then wait in the car. Then they put in the entrance way between the inner and outer goes and they have a debit machine there. Just doing sales, no repairs at this time.
Darpan Suthar that’s awesome! It’s nice to still be able to pick up much needed items isn’t it? We’d be in a rough spot without being able to keep our instruments going. Stay safe brother!
Recently picked up an EVH for a steal of a deal, L&M is thankfully being nice enough to set it up as the guitar had a bad but. However I might return it and just get something else... Want a guitar for quarantine and I don't wanna wait any longer lol, wanna get playing!
LOL!!! I was the Guy trying to figure out the ruler.. Great Video Dave!!! I understood right away when it was explained on Facebook.. I have to say you have a Fantastic Group of People that are willing to help out with any Guitar Questions on your Facebook Page.. Super Impressed.. Thank You and Everyone else for jumping in.. Cheers, and stay safe!!!
I have a cheap Squire Strat I've been struggling to get to a playable state for years. I was under the impression that string height should decrease toward the higher strings, but following this setup protocol solved a lot of the issues I've been having. You have a very informative and entertaining channel. Thanks for the videos!
It is a very worrying time for everyone at the minute but I am sure we will get through it eventually. I am over here in the UK and have really bad health issues. I have been told that I am to stay housebound for the next 12 weeks. According to the guidelines we have been given I am not to use the same bathroom as my wife and I am to have my meals in a separate room. Gets kind of depressing but worth it so that I don’t get the virus. The health workers everywhere are doing amazing jobs, that’s for sure. Your videos really cheer me up Dave - keep them coming if you can. Stay safe Dave and everybody out there.
Hey Dave good to see your torso again! Nice “old” strat....I’ve gone through all of mine since I seem to have the time, and your great lessons. Sounds like your gov has their shit together. Wish ours did......anyway greetings from Ann Arbor Michigan!
Nice Srat Love the color combo !!! Your friends Marshalls will Freak Out now And the licks will be sooo smooth. Thanks Dave you are keeping us musicians and even Drummers!!(me) sane Cheers
Like all things, this too will pass. Hopefully we're prepared and ready to kick on when it does. Glad to see you're staying busy and creative. Stay safe my friend. Keep those videos comin.
Oh Dave powertool heaven when you used that string winder, good to see you back on the guitars again.Relief?I get that every night with a couple of beers in front of my tv.Stay safe.................
I float my bridge up high as well but not as high as that one but it seems to work really good when you do that because it stays in tune no matter what I'm loving it the time before last I didn't float it all the way to 1/8 of an inch which made it Go Out Of Tune all the time but when I measured it and made sure it was at an eighth of an inch perfect thank you master😎
Thank you Dave for the run through steps and setup techniques you use. Some great technique my friend. I am liking the tsrat. I am in the market for one atm. I am a pro bassist but this covid condition got me getting back to my lead guitar interests. God bless and keep you and yours safe and healthy.
I bought a 1964 Stratocaster in 1970, after seeing Jimi Hendrix at Maple Leaf Gardens. Have you got a manual? You need a Fender Small Thick pick, what Fender used to measure the string height at the middle of the neck, after you press the string down on the first and last fret. It's also used to measure the tremolo plate back height. If a Strat is set up properly, when you break a string you feel the ball hit your gut and the string flies like an arrow, going twenty to thirty feet sometimes, depending how much you were bending it.
Hey Dave! Thanks as always. I'd strongly recommend using some Japan Drier before using (Boiled ) Linseed Oil on a fingerboard. Linseed oil usually takes somewhere between forever, and forever and a day, to dry. With the Japan Drier applied before the Linseed Oil, it dramatically decreases the time to dry. Cheers!
Most work I ever had rounding off fret ends was a maple board Strat that was super rolled on the edges, just from use, I guess. But I really had to work the ends inward from "flush" to get them to stop biting.
Hi Dave. Have watched you for years and yes I am a patron. Would it be possible for the guys at Solo to porch drop a kit for you and you could do a set of videos on all the aspects of putting it together?
I contacted Solo and they responded "Solo Guitars Support: Hey David, Thank you for the suggestion and we will bring this up with Dave." If you also would like to have Dave do a project like this contact support@sologuitars.ca so they realize we support Dave.
Nice work as usual, nice out look about the cash...it is our cash so don't sweat it..people are the main thing and the the social construct we call the economy will be fine when everyone is free to get back at it....peace brother.
I got one too - great guitar but I felt the pups were a bit of a let down - so dropped in some Bare Knuckles which to my ears were a great improvement.
I got a tremelo with those same "wing" string retainers on my new ax. What a nightmare just trying to stay in tune. *ping* *ping* Keeerrrist what is it? I'd stretch 'em for days, refile the nut slots, grease 'em with graphite and always *ping* *ping* when I'd tune. WTF is that? Finally, my brain kicked in. It was those miserable little wing retainers in my case. Replaced them with round rollers and now no *ping*. A $3.00 fix on ebay and it tunes better - but does drift over time. Now I'm evaluating the string winds. I'm sure you've heard the argument that too many string winds just make a coil on the tuner that can unwind, and add to the instability. What are your thoughts?
Ok, this is kind of crazy. I just put together a guitar with that body color and pickguard combination. It's my old 1991 Strat that had a Warmoth body on it. I decided to put the original body back on it, put a mint green pickguard on there with a set of pre wired Lindy Fralin Real '54 pups that I've had for close to 20 years when I got the Warmoth body. And it had those shitty rubber things that squished and fell apart. Replaced those with springs right away. Thanks for all the useful info.
Synchronous setups make me SQUINT in agony because of how much the finish gets wrecked as that bridge slams into the poor paint! For those who like Synchronous, I recommend installing some inert foam rubber under the bridge to protext the finish underneath.
"Oh look! there's a dog barking"...shut the fuck up! Good to see you again Dave and your sense of humor is still as sharp as ever. Hope everyone is safe, healthy and Covid-19 free in The House of Dave.
What a classic design. Nice looking guitar. Btw Dave, fretwork and string height is compelling tv to me. You could shoot a whole vid of that alone. Trust me, Hollywood is crap, real, laid back video is where it's at. Take care
David! It is so good to see your smiley belly again! Miss seeing this stuff, especially under the current circumstances! Are we having a live meeting this weekend??? If so when???
I've seen some of the tools that SM sells, I bought some of their reasonable priced ones but some are way too expensive. I would really like to buy a fret file tool. Stay safe Dave
Looks like my white strat but she has some dings and big frets and a zebra humbucker in the bridge position. She is old born in 1992 so about 28 years. She also like Daddario strings 10-46 and she has 3 springs and a upgraded (in 2013) graphhtech nut.
Good to see ya David! I miss your smiling face and overall hilarity on a daily basis. The Fun Stuff ya know!? Hope you and the family aren't ready to kill each other! I would still love to get my mitts on one of Larry's pup height guages. Maybe I'll ask the Universe to help me manifest one. Stay safe and keep a positive brain , Love ya man! PEACE from Southwest Michigan!!!
Thanks Dave, you mentioned lubing up the two pivots at the front of the trem but how should they be adjusted/setup? Struggled to find anything on the inter web. Peace out

Dave I wish you and your family the best stay safe and keep ungooching the gooched!
Stay safe Dave! I miss the daily setups. Hopefully we get back to normal very soon. We all need a bit more live music in our lives.
Dave, stay safe, stay healthy!
Thank God you are back Dave, going off my nut with no guitar tuneups to watch :)
Great to see you back doing guitar work. Great job, hang in there Dave...
Thanks Dave. You inspired me to work on one of my basses. Fortunately all I had to do this time was polish the frets thanks to you.
Dave Thank you For Being You I always Learn Something New about setting up My Guitars as Always You keep it Real.100%

Thanks Dave! Nice geetar indeed! Being a headphone user I double enjoy coming here as you make me feel special! Take care and be well sir!

GREAT to have you back, on a Strat no less (even if it's MIM). Cheers and stay safe!
Nice Srat Love the color combo !!! Your friends Marshalls will Freak Out now And the licks will be sooo smooth. Thanks Dave you are keeping us musicians and even Drummers!!(me) sane Cheers
such a beautiful strat. And hopefully more people will learn the trick of properly winding/ locking the strings on the tuning peg for B and e.
Your spirit seems to be upbeat compared to what I have been living around. I like that, thanks.
Nice one mate, you stay cool.
Stay safe Dave! Your awesome!!!
Great video as always! Be safe Dave!! 🎸

Dogs barking set me off also with the exact same words..lol
Wishing you all the best. I love watching you work on guitars, it makes me want to try it!
Stay safe to stay well to you and yours guys. Respect
Great stuff - thank you Dave.
Have a Happy and safe Easter
Thank you Dave for the run through steps and setup techniques you use. Some great technique my friend. I am liking the tsrat. I am in the market for one atm. Sweet lookin Strat for sure! Looks like one of those Vintera 60s with that Pao Ferro board but I could be wrong
Always love the shoutout to the headphone users! Cement mixer indeed sir!
I got a good laugh out of that one myself!
Pretty guitar. I like that cream color.
Yes! Cream finish Stratocaster and a maple board and EMG pups is my primary Strat right now.
It's Olympic White
Dave you are my go to when I need to do a set up thanks for the vids.
Cheers!

Bought a Classic Player 60’s Strat before they switched to the Vintera. I’ve really enjoyed it. Seems like a nice guitar 🎸. Nice video Dave!

Olympic white and a green guard is my favorite.
Thanks for the candor. I am seventy four, healthy and scared shitless.
nice guitar
Hi Dave. Have watched you for years and yes I am a patron. Would it be possible for the guys at Solo to porch drop a kit for you and you could do a set of videos on all the aspects of putting it together?
David Thibodeau love this idea
I'd assume Solo is closed ATM

Hey Dave - your last video has a spelling error in the title. Thanks for the new video, for helping out a friend and Stay Safe!

MX19 will be a 2019. That's a "Player" model with the spaghetti logo. Love that series of Mexican guitars.
I was trying to figure that out. 21 frets, two point tremolo, and S1 switch. Looks like it is a Vintera '60s Modified \m/
Bought the last year of the Classic Player 60’s. I’ve really enjoyed it.
I got one too - great guitar but I felt the pups were a bit of a let down - so dropped in some Bare Knuckles which to my ears were a great improvement.
@@GearBoxTy this is my guitar, it is in fact a vintera 60's. cheers
@@zoltan4660 Yes, but it's the "Mod"-version. Maybe that's why some people are confused about it.
Looking forward to watching you work on your personal gear....
Amazing video, learned so much. New sub. 👍
Nice!
