Lovely car ...my neighbour had one ! Wish I had one now

Prettier than the Capri though. I'd actually go so far as to say that the Firenza is one of the prettiest cars ever made, honestly! Even the base Viva coupe with dog dish hubcaps, from the side profile, is so pure and pretty.

Ford RS 2000 mk2 had a copycat type nose.

Yes, the swoop of the rear window and boot in side profile is just gorgeous. The Capri is clunkier in comparison.

@@ovalti4171Now I know why they offset the radiator filler cap 😮
The dissie cap is right behind it in the middle ❤
      Happy new year !

I had a 1973 Firenza 2300 Sport SL, Rostyle Wheels. Same dashboard but with a glove box. Loads of torque. I owned it in 1980 but even by then it was suffering from inner front wings rusting. Would have loved a droop snoot.

I love the car without the snoot as well. This is my second. I bought one on the verge of scrapping to do a track car but moved to Aus' during it's bodywork phase. Ended up in a financial disaster....long story. Found this one on the internet after the pain of the first faded and bought it sight unseen. I was twitching a bit until it arrived. I think it set a price record at the time but I didn't care - I got my teenage dream car.😁

So it made it over in one piece , still looks amazing I restored RFE399R back here in Ireland .

Yep. Thanks so much for the quality of the restoration and history file it's truly appreciated. I was going to put up a drive video but got diverted by fitting Gaz suspension and polybush because it was driving sloppy! Much better now. I also put the minilites back on. I need to get my finger out and get posting videos.....thanks for getting in touch.

Great to see one in Australia. I wish I'd imported mine 20 years ago instead of selling it (though happily it's found a caring owner). Good chance of survival in the Australian climate.

Thanks. It was bit of a risk bringing it over but it turned out great and no more rust!

I worked in Vauxhall motors 1976, I think it was the year, they stopped production, Liverpool

Yes - Mine hung around for a year in Perth before being transferred and sold in Scunthorpe. UK Reg' was RFE 399R. I actually live near an ex Vauxhall automotive engineer who remembered the issues they had and had a lot of history he filled in on the production process.....fascinating.

I was an apprentice at GM Stag Lane Plant NW London from 1972-76. We got to drive a whole bunch of Vauxhall & Opel cars. For my own cars I started off with an HA Viva hand me down from my dad (who worked at the same place), then I got a Mk2 HB Viva GT with the 2.0ltr slant 4 engine. I loved that car but I lusted after the Droop Snoot Firenza when it came out. Never got the Firenza because after a change in jobs I started getting company cars from 1976 & we were not allow 2 door models. Had Mk1,2 & 3 Cavalier's over the years but the Firenza is still top of my wish list. Would love an estate model but they are rarer than hen's teeth.

    That's a stunner.
Only thing I can see that's not right is.....the door mirror. Vauxhall fitted Desmo mirrors with long stocks onto a triangular shaped mount.
    Other than that.....minted.

Thanks. I've actually got the originals via the previous owner. They're a bit tarnished - I suspect that's why he removed them. You've prompted me to look at fixing this. Many thanks.
