Really good to see you back on it. The skill and quality you are putting in to it is outstanding. I have a 2300 sport sl needing attention and after watching your workmanship I'm having doubts of my skills. Keep up the good work👍.
I know really good home fabrication when I see it and that is excellent home fabrication. Love the raised welds inside the sill section that aren't ground flush.
The only kid to come by car at my school in 1972 came in a Blue Vauxhall Firenza, i even remember the reg: AKC 77K. That was about the only one i ever saw. Good luck with the rest of the resto. Well worth it.
Lucky kid!! My mum had a blue vauxhall magnum in the 80s that I got taken to school in! I think the Firenza coupe was a fair bit less common than it's Viva/Magnum saloon siblings.
Crazy that knocking on 50 years ago that rolled out the showroom and has been painstakingly brought back to life in your garden 😎 top fabrication work, welding looks absolutely perfect👌
Cheers Ricky! I certainly played my part in its demise (driving it in the snow etc) but judging by what I found during its resurrection it was well rotten before I even owned it!!
Yeah yeah! It's a whole lot less fun when it's sub zero C in the shed!! And you're welcome, just get rid of those noodle grade jump leads before next time eh 😉
Its getting there bit by bit! Trying to get into a bit of a consistent schedule with uploads - hopefully you'll get to see some major progress over the coming months!!
I wondered where you've been and if the end of the video is anything to go buy, the project is complete! Still looking forward to the rest of the work, and your fabrication skills never cease to impress me. At the beginning when I saw the amount of rust, I kinda felt you'd wasted your time on the front as the rest of the car was looking like scrap. I'd forgotten about your ability to fabricate anything of any shape so it was barely an inconvenience for you. I found some old Firenza bits, like top wishbones and some ballpoints, but it looks like you won't be needing them lol. Cant wait to see the finished project and the progress - the power steering, interior, exhaust, spraying etc etc, so hope you don't skimp on the videos too much. Cheers!
Hi Gary, still a long way to go before it's completely finished but the shell is good and solid now.. Don't worry I have been recording most of it so plenty of videos to come! I think you're giving me too much credit though, for sure it has felt like quite an inconvenience at times 🤣
Now I know what you have been up to for the past 9 months. I was wondering if you had decided to stop doing the TH-cam videos and just do the Instagram updates, but now I know. Cut, peel back, cut, fabricate, weld and repeat - again and again. No such thing as off the shelf replacement panels with these old Vauxhalls. I have always loved the shape of the Firenzas and Magnums - a piece of Americana but at a scale suited to our British roads. If I had the space and the skills this is something that I would like to create. Found your channel by recently Googling 'LS swap Vauxhall Firenza' and binge watched all the available episodes. Looking forward to more videos and the progress made.
Hi and thanks! Yes, if this was a ford it would have been much quicker - having hardly any parts available makes for a more challenging repair for sure! Totally agree that the older Vauxhalls look like their American counterparts that got shrunk in the wash 😄
Outstanding work, as usual. I like the floor mod for exhaust clearance. I might add that to all the others idea's I'm getting from you for my HB project, if I can ever get back at it again...
Welcome to the world on 1970’s cars. They rotted out commonly within 5 years from new! Made from cheap steel, not rust proofed of wax oiled and thinly painted.
Yep! This one wasn't my first rodeo! - there's plenty of spots I've found on these that aren't painted from factory at all - areas just covered with globs of sealer that inevitably shrinks and let moisture in over time.. totally rubbish, but I still love 'em!
@@HexyTech The perfect reply, I had a few comments like that at the start of my 1974 Ford Cortina Mk 3 Concourse Restoration videos, but my shell was seriously rusty, so I can see why many thought it was crazy to attempt it, but the end result was worth all the time, effort and vast expense as I have a 100% rust free as brand new shell, I really like your car, and the work you have done is great, and so from one classic car owner to another well done on saving your beautiful Vauxhall.

I remember back in 1977 my dad bought my mum a firenza 1.8sl,brand new n white, she loved that car and it looked amazing..
Nice! My dad worked for a vauxhall dealer so we had a ton of them over the years - my mum had a blue 2.3 magnum right through to the early 90s

Cheers Neil - if the weld is inside a section like the sill I'd rather just clean it up than grind it back and risk weakening the metal around it!

Wanted to buy a Forenza back in 1972 as a 19year old 2.3lt ,but insurance of £1450.00 / year stopped that in its tracks, great work on a real classic

Just beautiful.
Get on with it !!! Lol good work hex and thanks for the rescue last week bro .

Great work as usual. Looking forward to seeing this project all come together.

Nice too see you working again on your Firenza ls ! Can't wait to see the Car running 😉🤗
That makes two of us!! Hopefully sometime in 2024 it will be running!

Thanks, will do - new video up today!
Amazing work!!
Thanks Piet!
nice work bud
Cheers!
Great work
Nice work, looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks! That rear foot well definitely limits exhaust space, I figured with no rear seats going in there's no need to keep the footwell!
Nice bit of fabrication it’s coming along nicely
Cheers Billy! long way to go yet - this was filmed last summer so hopefully over the coming weeks you'll get to see some more rapid progress!
Looking forward to seeing the restoration I still miss my
Firenza Droop Snoot that I sold and have regretted it every since

great wellding
Cheers Peter!
I personally would prefer to hear the restorers comments rather than some funky modern pop music.
Noted! - I'm not great at narrating my videos! It's a skill I need to improve at for sure...
IBooks like a pile of junk to me scrap it
Sounds like you lack vision! I can see the potential, with a little bit of effort...

@@Cortinaman63 thanks! I'll admit, it may look a little crazy to some - but nice to know there's at least one person equally as crazy out there 😁
Are you serious? Buffoon.
Hexy. Superb fabrication. Second to none.
Remember, it’s not the critic who counts, but rather the man in the arena.
