I spent a long time looking for a new guitar. When I found this guitar, and played it... I felt I found a part of me in this model. I've owned this model now for well over several months and I can't put it down... Whether it be playing Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Flyleaf, Bring Me The Horizon, AFI, Funeral for a Friend, BB King or other greats... It just feels so right to play. Thank you Mark & PRS for bringing to life more than just a guitar, but an instrument that is now part of my soul. ❤
Does it play well when not wanting to jent or metal in standard tune? I’m not able to try where I live but love periphery and was curious if I could tune it back and jam to some old rock riffs.

Honestly, I've played it from E Standard to Drop C, and even lower without trying F Sharp, because my gauge (11-50) can't handle that low. But I've had no problems going from Distortion related riffs to some clean tones. Tuning hasn't been an issue, but I do plan on perhaps changing the Nut from Plastic to bone in the near future. Hope this helps!

Have a Mark Holcomb PRS SE 7 already and today my local store had this one on the wall. Went in to get some strings and somehow I ended up walking out the door with this guitar and it is amazing. Really digging the new pickups!
Oh this blue burst color is fantastic. Love the look of the new pickups too. I tend to prefer ceramic pickups in the bridge so not sure if I'll like the new scourge pickup over the old Omega, but will definitely play this as soon as I find one in stores. Loved his original SE, may have to buy one of these as well.
Still have the og se signature and probably still my favorite guitar to play any metal on and definitely going to get this to do a comparison..I’m sold 😍😍

Uncool prs deleting my comment. I said i love the guitar’s look and excited about the pickups! Just wish PRS would have added locking tuners and stainless frets for the upper end models, its 2023 and that seems a reasonable critique.
I've been holding on to get your signature model for years, which was even harder when you almost convinced me in your guitar clinic in Vancouver. But now I feel I have no excuses anymore and the look on the new pickups is just incredible
Still astonishing what they‘re delivering for the money with this. This is way closer to a proper custom shop metal guitar in sound than anything else below 2000€. My USA Jackson HT7 is still one step above, but I paid over 3k for that and this is definitely the next best thing.
I love my SE SVN Holcomb Walnut and use every single day. Delivers perfection and extreme comfort to me and I'm really happy to have it. I love the blue color visually and new PU sounds lovely to my ears. I have to test that for sure, why not getting another Holcomb? :)
Loved chattin pickup configurations with you at NAMM 19. I think i told you i threw a An alnico Neck pup in and kept the bridge (after trying a JB which was NOT meant for downtuning haha) Cool to see less heat in these. Maybe I need another Holcomb PRS? 😝. Keep rockin man
Steeper price with no real upgrades (assuming the pickups go for about the same price) really seems odd. Would have been nice to have locking tuner included with this one to go with the price increase. I’ll still probably end up getting one though since the original se Holcomb is my favorite guitar I own with second place going to the Holcomb SVN
It's 2023. Guitar prices are up across the board for all manufacturers even for guitars that have zero changes. I'm fairly sure they could've increased the old model from 1000 before now but held off since this new version was in development.
@@sb632 I get that but even still they could have done at least something small to improve it a bit, like putting a Graphtech nut on it instead of the plastic ones that come on all SE models, which costs next to nothing to do. And like I mentioned before upgrading the tuners to the SE locking tuners would have been nice too, though I understand that one could be a bit more expensive.
I've been looking forward to this guitar since it was teased by Agufish a few months ago. Been meaning to get into the PRS world and with this and the new SE McCartys I think I found my entry point for sure. Kinda wish there were locking tuners but hey,beggars can't be choosers.
It's funny that Mark is talking about how he likes when people use his guitars for genres other than just metal. I recently got an Ibanez equipped with Bare Knuckle Aftermath's, and find myself playing tons of blues and funk with them. Don't get me wrong, the Aftermath's are absolutely fantastic for metal. However, they are extremely versatile in their sound and even more so with coil splits.
So I got this guitar and I really like it. it fits my limited small prs collection and does thing they dont do. seriously though, it's 2023......and you can't put locking tuners on it? it cost a grand! and no locking tuners? not to mention all of the other things. might do a review in the future. it's a interesting guitar but could easily be better.
I got my Holcomb SE back in 2016, and it eclipsed every other guitar I’ve ever owned, including significantly more expensive Gibsons and fenders. Everything on that instrument is pretty much perfect for what I need it for, and the pick ups have this amazing balance between being great are clean and high gain without being too saturated… i.e. incredible clarity on chords. About the only thing I’ve done is replaced the nut with the graphite one, and it looks like they’ve got a better one on the new model. I’ve always wanted to get a second one, so this might be the time.
I was wondering about these pick ups since they are voice to this particular guitar specs. What other Seymour Duncan pups are these sonically similar to?? I'm interested to hear more about the pick ups in other applications so I can get a pretty good idea of what they are like. Thanks to whoever wants to respond.🤘🤘

I love this model, the only thing I'd personally change is a flamed top with tobacco sunburst finish and no binding on the fretboard.
