- It's been too long since my first reaction to this band! This is the second time I've listened to them and......Well, I kinda liked it. I went ahead and did a twofer....but I have literally no idea what the second song is called!

Honestly, I dont think I've listened to a song from Hanabie yet that I didn't like. Their video offerings on TH-cam are somewhat slim but all of their songs are on Spotify.
I love the fact that a bunch of high school girls got together and decided that this is the music they want to make. Actually, even on the new album several of the songs have been written (or at least started) by the guitarist when she was still in high school.
It took me a while to get into it, but this has been my workout music for a month now 😆
What's cool is these girls are still very young and are already putting out music this good. They are just going to get better as they develop their technical skills and writing. They are at the same stage in their career as band maid when they did Thrill. I see good things coming from this band in the future.

HANABIE. first album "Girl's Reform Manifest" was released on January 14th 2021 and it's in my top 3 albums of the last year with BAND-MAID's "Unseen World " and Gacharic Spin's eponymous album. It's just a banger from start to finish. Please check out the last song of this album called "Want to TIE-UP" :)

Dude, Hanabie round out my Triumvirate! Band Maid, Nemophila and Hanabie. Matsuri’s guitar tone really is heavy as fu&k! She runs her ESP through a Peavey 6505 she got recently. And the way Hettsu locks her bass into the kick drum patterns so tightly just makes for a truly pummeling sound!💪🏻🤘🏻

Everything they do do is gold honestly. Their DEBUT album and it's one of the best records of 2021. Super siick.
Yukina is my favorite. She must be around 1m50, 40kgs maximum, has to wear platform shoes and climb on every thing she finds to be seen on the stage, but has the power of a heavyweight death metal singer. The gap is strong with this one! :-)
Being short doesn't mean you're any less capable of being a great metal musician - there are plenty of male metal musicians who are super short (like around the 5.5 ft area) who are still some of the most popular musicians in the genre. Height has nothing to do with skill level. Just means people are gonna assume they'll be less competent. Especially women.
Can't recall hearing so much drama from heaps of people about people making a fuss out of the height of all the short men in the metal genre, but they're constantly bringing it up with the women...

P.M.S!!! 😜 Hanabie are pure unadulterated 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Their album “Girl’s Reform Manifest” was my favorite album from 2021 - even with Nemophila releasing Revive. Their truck is to blend styles and make diverse music that is unmistakably Hanabie. Harajukucore takes the win.

Their cover of ADO’s ODO is a treat too - it’s an “at home” thing but don’t let that put you off. Brilliant cover.

Our 7 days war is One of my fav song off their amazing album. When I off work and going home this is often the first song I listen to, and immediately relieve all my stress in the day. Thanks for reacting to it 😊

If anyone would break out in full on growl, then it would be Kanami. She has been practicing, but is not quite there yet as she demonstrated in one of the Online Okyu-ji 😁

Fantastic album over all. All songs as good as those. As good is the previous minialbum...Its a pity the CDs are sold out. Its so weird with Japan...many things I look for are sold out. How much money do the bands lose from this? Fortunately I managed to get own copies
I asked Sae-chan (Hanabie Drummer) during a recent YT "birthday" live if she does any drum solos and she immediately and humbly said no way. Being the new addition to the band, I suspect she's trying to just lock in with the rest of them. She's trying to improve on her English, along with Yukina. So, I suspect they may come to the US or Western countries in the future, as they had been selling out at all of their recent live gigs in Japan. Band Maid, Hanabie, and the Aristocrats are all on my daily Spotify playlist mix. Great rxn!

Well, Misa is ヤバい (yabai - bad ass crazy), but Bryan Beller has an amazingly clear low-end tone on his Mike Lull (RIP) bass rig while Misa's Black Cloud is more present and up-front. Between Misa, Bryan and Michael League (Snarky Puppy bass), there's a bass tone somewhere in that mix that I'm searching for the "Holy Grail" for answers. Nice chatting with you Ryan. I get a strong Broken By The Scream vibe with a hint of Kakriyo Terror Architect for flavor.
Hanabie is still independent and not very well known in Japan sadly. Hopefully they'll be able to start doing their own 1 mans this year and be able to actually put their full attention on the band.
Part of me wonders how they couldn't be well-known, then I see what's super popular in Japan and am reminded I'm not seeing mainstream stuff.
@@RyanMear They have a chance to make the mainstream, just look at Maximum the Hormone. It's just that they are still very young but it seems like they are gaining some fans in metal magazine publications so they are trending in the right direction.

These 2 songs were imo a good way to get into Hanabie. A lot of their other songs are a little too kawaii for me. The songs that I do like,including these 2, I really like. The other songs I would suggest are Invisible Wall, Want to TIE-UP, and ghost mania from their 2018 ep.

Ghost manía is one of my favorite, the other are Envy and Time Out. My top three of the 2018 EP.

Well, well, you might have helped me find at last my second favorite Japanese band. I do not want to mention other groups for the sake of peace. Many good bands out there, but there is always that extra spark missing!
Japanese men take a big slap in the face (and a deserved knife in the back! (LOL). The second song has a clear message, has it not? Sounds of a changing society in Japan...

What is so amazing about Hanabie is their age. Yes, there are many capable college bands, Hanabie being a prime example but the quality of their songs and musicianship is so good for such an inexperienced band. There are more songs for you to discover and of course they can play well live.

A lot of their songs actually take on serious social issues--app-based hookups, drugs, prostitution, misogyny, violence....They are no pop group, that's for sure!
