Van Morrison's recording career spans nearly seven decades. He is is a Northern Irish singer-songwriter & can play guitar, harmonica, keyboards & saxophone. In the mid 60's he was in the band "THEM" & their biggest hits were "Gloria", "Baby Please Don't Go", "Here Comes The Night" & "Mystic Eyes". Van Morrison later went solo & has had tons of hits such as "Brown Eyed Girl", "It Stoned Me", "Into The Mystic", "Moondance", "Crazy Love", "Jackie Wilson Said", "Days Like This" etc.
Yes Van Morrison has been a major star all my life and I'm 69! He's from Belfast in Northern Ireland and I actually saw him once having a drink outside a well known hotel in Belfast.
Tupelo honey is found in Tupelo trees in a small area in Florida. It's delicious. BTW, my screen name isn't about this honey, but my hometown. My now husband played this on our first date. It worked!
Van Morrison's albums Astral Week & Moondance are two albums that should be listened to with headphones and in their entirety 1st song to last. They are that good.
He is often called Van "The Man". This is a good example why! If Ali comes home after a particularly bad day, a big hug and slow dance to this in the background. Watch all those troubles melt away. You need to follow this song with another artist. Chris Stapleton and his song Tennessee Whiskey. It's another love song like this one.
One of my favorite songs of all time. He is a brilliant musician. I ❤ his live album “Live from San Francisco.” He surrounds himself with top notch musicians.
Van Morrison is a complete artist, songwriter, singer and performer who's been recording since the '60's. During which he started with three different bands ('64 - '66) and then in his solo career. From Gloria, Moondance, Have I Ever Told You That I Love You. Check out Philosopher's Stone. There are too many to name, but his catalog is an amazing trove of richness. His live performances are a delight.
Sebs, you nailed it again! You’re right about what you said about Alli at the end, she’ll love it! My wife and I had a romantic dinner one night and afterwords I grabbed her hand and took her the great room and played this song and we danced. She never heard it before, she had tears of bliss!!👍👍
What a blast from the past! In the 80's, everybody had CB radios in their car. At the time, I lived in Tupelo, MS, and so my CB "handle" was Tupelo Honey! LOL Van Morrison is great!
Never play this enough. One of the greatest! There was a time 20 years ago when several hit RomCom movies all emphasized the identical Van Morrison song (Someone Like You)! How many bands or soloists have ever done that? He's the people's favorite as well as the critics. When my mom died, a Van Morrison song was covered in the 1990s by a singer who screams rather than sings; but the song is so touching and the lyrics so sublime, it was a monster hit anyway (Have I Told You Lately that I Love You).
II'mhooked on this song AND Tupelo honey. Have it shipped to Pennsylvania from Florida after visiting there and trying it many years ago.😊 This song is as smooth as the honey!
Van the man Morrison! Heavenly! Takes us on a journey every time!He is in my top 3 singers of all time! My favorite is Sweet Thing!🍒🎙🎶Another lesser known gem is called,Whenever God Shines His Light...🌠
Van Morrison is still making amazing music now. He was on absolute fire during Covid. I find him really inspiring. He must be in his late 70s or early 80s? And he's producing perhaps the most amazing music of his career?
Tupelo pronounced “TUE-puh-low.” Morrison’s voice is unmistakeable, bluesy, and in performance, absolutely mesmerizing. Love your reactions!!!! Keep up the fantastic work.
Ever since I first heard it, back when it was released, it still is one of my all-time favorite songs. His voice is amazing, and I've always said it’s like another musical instrument it is so expressive and emotive. This song ranks up there with the best love songs ever and the instrumentation is perfect.
"Into the Mystic" is the one that settles into your heart and lives rent-free until.... Van gives a tremendous performance (video) at The Band's farewell/Thanksgiving day concert (filmed by Martin Scorcese) that shows his chops.
No one ever slow danced to this. It wasn't a big radio hit. It only made it to #47, which is a sign of just how superior the musical culture of the early 70s was compared to now.
The feels this song gives me with 0 context is next level. Fun fact, Van was a huge fan of "the band" and vice versa. Robbie robertson of the band was especially a fan. The band did a going away concert in '76 called the last waltz and had a young Martin scorsese directed the legendary concert. Robbie and Scorsese became close so close that almost every Scorsese movie track was done by Robbie. Tupelo honey was Robbie and Scorseses song, they played it each time they said goodbye to eachother. Robbie passed away in August of 2023 and Scorsese said "I won't be playing that one anymore".
Van Morrison! Tupelo Honey, used to sing this to my Li'l babies. Just mesmerizing. Into the Mystic, Jackie Wilson Says... Too many to mention. Including his album with the Chieftains! ❤❤❤
Thanks, Sebs.. pretty sure that Chris Stapleton took off this melody for his "Tennessee Whiskey" song.. but damn, give it up for Van... (also my favorite.. "into the mystic")..
Just wanted to suggest you check out Coheed and Cambria, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 (Live at the Starland Ballroom). If you haven't experienced it yet, prepare to have your mind blown. One of the few songs that give me goosebumps every single time I listen. They are the most severely underrated rock band of our generation.
If I have a favorite artist, it would have to be Van Morrison. He sings like a Hammond B3, and hes even better live. Ive seen this guy more times than I can remember, sometimes so drunk that he could hardly stand but he never lost his voice, this guy has never written a bad song or made a bad recording, not even in the 80s with fake drums and shitty over-production, the overall brutally high quality of this mans work is just out of this world.
He's called 'Van the Man" and "The Belfast Cowboy". His music has been present through almost my whole life. This one came out in 1974 and I first heard it in the early 80's. Van Morrison could sing the telephone book and it would sound sublime. Love your reaction!
When my late husband and I married: told him I've always dreamt of someone loving me THIS MUCH!!! He EXCEEDED that!!! I dedicate this to him, today! Miss You, Babe! Thanks for the reaction, Sebs!!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU MY HUSBAND AND I DANCED IN OUR LIVING ROOM HE WAS THE KINDEST MAN. I FIGURE GOD NEEDED ANOTHER ANGEL. THANKS SEBS!!!! MY HEART FEELS SO GOOD RIGHT MUCH LOVE TO YOU , ALI , PENNY AND MILLIE
Van can also rock... check out his "Caravan" with The Band from Martin Scorcese's documentary "The Last Waltz" (1978): th-cam.com/video/44wDwMQVqCc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=MZGDea3OJJ7h5Uwj I saw him live at the Capitol Theater in Montreal in the 1970s. Great concert and he was somewhat sober, though I understand he most definitely was not at his earlier set!
Toop-uh-low. Cool turn on the old adage, "I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China". And I had a huge crush on a "Brown Eyed Girl" in 1967. Big hit for Van.
i've been listening & buying his music from the first time i heard in front of Them in1964 doing baby please don't go, great muso & lyricist, songs for all types of moods up & down. keep up the content seb cheers mate.
His music has so many layers. His voice and every instrument are exquisite. You can tune into the different instruments, his voice, the arrangement, the vibe, the tune, the words...all of these pieces can make every time I listen a joyful journey. Sometimes their beauty brings a tesr. Hope I'm making sense. He is truly a unique talent. All the songs mentioned by others are great. You should definitely dive in. A not as well know one that I love is Blue Money. It's quirky and silly and just fun to listen to. Another upbeat and bouncy one is Domino. Love your reactions.
OK Sebs, we got you close to the tears today. NOW: You need to get your wife right in the chair at your side and listen to Morrison"s "Have I Told You Lately" It was the song my wife and I picked for our first dance at our wedding. You'll know why, once you hear it. Bring the hanky.
Arguably one of his best. Errata: Some of the coolest guitar parts on the album were played by a very young Ronnie Montrose. The rabbit hole awaits you.
Van Morrison, "Into The Mystic". One of my all time FAVORITES!!!❤❤❤
Absolutely! My all time favorite song!
Mine, too!
Van Morrison is just a flat out genius. His voice is fantastic, and his arrangements are gorgeous….
"Into the Mystic" got me through somethings. Still does to this day.
According to legend, honey that is made from the flowers of the Tupelo tree will never crystallize. It is an eternal sweetness just like her love.
Tupelo honey never crystallizes. I know from experience. Sweetest love song ever! Also…check out Crazy Love!
Into the Mystic and Brown Eyed Girl are my two favourites.

Yes Van Morrison has been a major star all my life and I'm 69! He's from Belfast in Northern Ireland and I actually saw him once having a drink outside a well known hotel in Belfast.
The older I get, the better Van Morrison gets.
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
AMEN HE IS AMAZING
True. I never listened to them back in the day but now that I’m in my mid 50s,I like it 😊
Indeed
Ain't that the truth!
This song and "Moondance" can just totally relax anyone. He is a treasure.
Tupelo honey is found in Tupelo trees in a small area in Florida. It's delicious. BTW, my screen name isn't about this honey, but my hometown. My now husband played this on our first date. It worked!
😎
I didn't know that I always thought it was about Honey from Tupelo Mississippi cotton fields
Thanks
Tupelo Mississippi...where Elvis was born...
Van is one of a kind, Into the Mystic is a must. Also Moondance
Van Morrison's albums Astral Week & Moondance are two albums that should be listened to with headphones and in their entirety 1st song to last. They are that good.
My favorite album is Sense of Wonder, but Astral Weeks is a close second.
Every song!
I love everything by Van, it's Irish soul and blues. Have been listening to him for over 50 years. Astral Weeks is just beautiful!
He`s British.
@@telstar4772
he's from Belfast, Northern Ireland
I haven't heard of Irish soul.
One of my favorite songs of all time. He is a brilliant musician. I ❤ his live album “Live from San Francisco.” He surrounds himself with top notch musicians.

Van is a legend among legend with one of the most soulful emotional voices ever!An even better love song is Van’s Moondance. You will love it!
No words needed…👌♥️always will be a fav song of mine☮️
If this song doesn't move you, you have no soul!
Never play this enough. One of the greatest! There was a time 20 years ago when several hit RomCom movies all emphasized the identical Van Morrison song (Someone Like You)! This came out when I was a teenager in junior high school. Just another solid example of the finest musical generation ever. Period.
You've got to listen to his "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Moondance".
That song, that rendition, is just perfect. Just perfect.
II'mhooked on this song AND Tupelo honey.
Have it shipped to Pennsylvania from Florida after visiting there and trying it many years ago.😊
This song is as smooth as the honey!
We don’t always cry because we are weak, sometimes we cry because we have been strong, brave and courageous for way too long
Van the man Morrison! Heavenly! Takes us on a journey every time!He is in my top 3 singers of all time! My favorite is Sweet Thing!🍒🎙🎶Another lesser known gem is called,Whenever God Shines His Light...🌠

These Are The Days, this song, and Brown Eyed Girl are my favorites. 😊❤
It’s actually TWO-pello 😊
So glad you did the studio version of this. 😊😊
Just a treasure.Love Van.He sings some of my most favorite songs."These Are The Days is a great feeling song of faith and of love of life
Yes, this and "Into The Mystic" are two of my favorites, although I love anything from Van Morrison!!
Tupelo pronounced “TUE-puh-low.” Morrison’s voice is unmistakeable, bluesy, and in performance, absolutely mesmerizing. Love your reactions!!!! Keep up the fantastic work.
Van Morrison has so much soul. I love your insights into the music I grew up on.
The words every wife longs to hear.
Ever since I first heard it, back when it was released, it still is one of my all-time favorite songs. His voice is amazing, and I've always said it’s like another musical instrument it is so expressive and emotive. Love Van Morrison...MUST LISTEN TO 'INTO THE MYSTIC'; such otherworldliness in the sound of a Fog Horn. One of the best.
HIS BIGGEST BY FARRRRRR SEBS : BROWN EYED GIRL 😊YOU MOST LIKELY KNOW IT! 👍
Ahhh!! 1971! ❤
Van Morrison Into the Mystic is also such a great song
Into the Mystic!!!! In my top 5. One of the most beautiful ever written. Van is one of our greatest songwriters.
As you can hear Morrison sing, Tupelo is pronounced "TOO-puh-low."
One of my favorite songs ever among so many great ones by Van!
There are a lot of great live versions of songs, but you can't go wrong starting with the version everyone fell in love with first.
Nothing like Van the Man, there's so many songs to choose from. 😍😍
One of my all time favorites. It always makes me slow down, and think about, how much I appreciate my wife.😊
I can see you putting this song on and dancing and swaying to this song with your lovely bride. Do it!
Van Morrison is always amazing. To me, "Moondance" is my favorite.
And if your girls are brown eyed….you really have to hear Brown Eyed Girl 😊
"Into the Mystic" is the one that settles into your heart and lives rent-free until....
Van gives a tremendous performance (video) at The Band's farewell/Thanksgiving day concert (filmed by Martin Scorcese) that shows his chops.
Van Morrison is a troubadour in the truest sense of the word. Absolute musical genius.
If you want to slow dance, listen to Van. Crazy Love. Its been a first song in many weddings
Listen to his "Have I told you lately", it's a beautiful love song(and worship song, as he sometimes sings it)
I know most of vans work; i’d say this is his finest cut🤘❤️
I used to sing this song to my daughter when she was a baby.
Love this and others of Van's. I love the uncluttered jazzy orchestration: it's exquisite!
No one ever slow danced to this. It wasn't a big radio hit. It only made it to #47, which is a sign of just how superior the musical culture of the early 70s was compared to now.
It's a love song about freedom.
The feels this song gives me with 0 context is next level. Fun fact, Van was a huge fan of "the band" and vice versa. Robbie robertson of the band was especially a fan. You really need to check ✔️ his catalog, he's one of the great's!!
I am so sorry you haven't been introduced to Van Morrison sooner!!! We let you down, friend. Dig in to his catalog, you will be so glad you did!!
the stress is on the first syllable--TU-pel-o
Try pronouncing it like Van does.
Glad you like the song. Into the Mystic is just as good, probably better!

Of all the wonderful Morrison songs, this is my favorite.
Van the Man. I have loved his work on a spiritual level ever since the 1st time I heard him 35 years ago.
Been waiting on this!!!
