    Very helpful refresher. I have been out of the loop for a while old phono and cd dj. Bought a CDJ a few years back and had to transfer everything over from my old Gemini mixer. There were some connections I did not recognize for example, the combo XLR 1/4 connector. Thanks again lots of useful info.

    I connected a hand-sized synth to the mic input of my mixer for a few minutes and then noticed that the right input was a line input... and it worked fine. Could I have already damaged my mic input or preamp during the few minutes I used the synth in there?

    I just got the RX3 and I am trying to figure out if I need an additional Receiver/audio mixer for the PA speakers? Im going to contact pioneer to verify but I was surprised when my Rockville SPGN128 12" Passive 1200W DJ PA Speaker ABS Lightweight Cabinet 8 Ohm showed up and there is no power cord for it. Im not sure if the RX3 can power the speakers as well or if an additional audio mixer will be required.

    Thanks for the great video and explanation mate. So here's my question. If I want to play just with my XDJ-RX2 without using a Rekordbox but just power source electricity cable, USB sticks and my headphones connected to the XDJ-RX2, do I need only speakers XLR or RCA and then I will be able to mix normally? Thanks in advance.

    You state that the difference between a phono input and a line input is that the line input is digital. This is incorrect . Both inputs are designed to take analogue signals. The difference is that the phono input from a turntable is at a much lower voltage than the input from a CD player (or other line input)
    Electronics inside the controller / mixer amplify the phono signal to bring it up to line level before the signal is routed further through the controller / mixer.

    Hi, great vid. Is it possible to connect XLR out to the House speakers and then the RCA out to an extra powered speaker that I bring along? I have been using the Booth line out for this extra powered speaker, but I've noticed recently that when I connect the Booth audio cables to the powered speaker, the House speakers begin to buzz with interference. So annoying. Any help appreciated. House speakers not the best. Hence why I'm bringing along the 2k watt powered to boost the sound.

      There was also a tiny mistake, or better yet, missed opportunity at the beginning, where he explains entry-level controllers only offering unbalanced RCA outs. He then goes on to explain that if you want a cheaper controller to plug into a PA system, you'll need a RCA to XLR cable. That's not entirely wrong, but it will sound extremely thin and there will also be a lot of hum/static noise. If you want to eliminate this and make your signal sound stronger, there's this handy little tool called a DI box. It will convert an unbalanced source into a balanced (XLR) output, while also completely eliminating any static noise. If you're just starting out and don't want to spend a fortune, there are active dual DI boxes out there for as low as $25, i.e. the Behringer DI20.

    Hello, I have a question. I have the Pioneer XDJ XZ and a Scarlet mic with 3 pin and when I connect it I hear no sound. This mic does not have an on or off button.

    • @djkit
      @djkit  6 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@djscale2821 The Scarlet mics are condensor microphones made for studio use. there's no sound as it's not getting enough power.
      You can buy a phantom power supply to run it.
      You really need to use a dynamic mic. They're more suited for the job and less fuss.

    So I've got a ddj1000, and i wish to practice some scratch with a turntable, will there be any difference if i just connect my turntable with the DDJ rather than a DJM mixer?😢

    • @djkit
      @djkit  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@lowerclass-eq7mu you'll find the DJM mixer probably have a more solid fader and depending on the model, more control over the curve adjustment.
      Other than that, no.

    Why is XLR better then RCA?

    • @djkit
      @djkit  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@BjjDrillers if you're running cable over longer distances or have lots of potential interference, XLR cables offer a layer of shielding compared to RCA.
      If you're just using it on a basic home setup, you won't notice any difference between the two.

    Really good video and very informative. I am trying to connect my new external mixer to my set up but I don’t know how to do this. My studio set up is KRK Rokit speakers connected into my SX2 controller. I have a TRS cable. Does this connect into the master socket of my controller into the main Out L and R on my external mixer? Once I’ve connected my mic into the external mixer I am not getting any sound from the speakers when I talk.

    • @djkit
      @djkit  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we would recommend that you use it if you turntable has one! If it doesn't that would probably mean that it's been pre grounded. You will find under the turntable where the red & white cables are, you screw the other end of the fork in there.

      If you have a Power Amplifier that has a lot of beef then go normal or ( Passive ) Speakers.
      Of course the Speakers have to be powerful beefy speakers too, they will almost literally blow you away.
