    Also fairly new, Summer of 2020 I fished NJ hard with kayak, boat, bank fishing etc.. & didn't catch a single snakehead all season despite my effort. Last spring, summer, fall I finally put the puzzle together, switched from boat to kayak and embraced "the grind" persistence, days without catching, & moments of hammering them. I was introduced to it by Steve K, snakehead Jesus, by accident when he subscribed to my fairly new channel which surprised me (my video's are "eh" lol) , when I checked out his content, it was like I was 12 years old all over again (I'm an older guy), re-ignited my passion for fishing, I owe him. Great overview, your honesty & desire to help people new to this shines through.

      Steve’s videos played a big part in helping me learn about and catch snakeheads too! I figure maybe I can pay it forward and help a few people experience the same thrill that I get every time I catch one! Thanks for the nice comment bro, hope to see you catching a lot this year 👍

    Very nice information I will try this year. Eating Snakehead is very very good for our health that's why I try to catch snakehead. We have snakehead in texas water but I never catch any snakehead.

    Question for you…. “ where can I purchase lip grippers that swivel?? “ I’ve called my local bait and tackle shop and was told it doesn’t matter if you break their jaws because you need to kill them regardless. I catch and release if I’m not taking it home… Also what size Mepps are you throwing ? 4 ? Thanks for all the great information! I’ll let you know when I land my first one ! 🎣🎣🎣

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment and questions Mike! You can get the rotating grippers on addiction baits website. I’ll leave the link right here: addictionbaits.com/shop/ols/products/addiction-baits-fish-grippers
      I like to throw a size 4 mepps most of the time, but I’ll throw a size 5 in deeper water or a size three in the shallows. Hope the info helps and definitely let me know when you get your first!

    I go bass fishing from 1-sunset all the time and catch like 30 fish. Time of day doesn’t really matter unless your talking about baits to use. Got to switch up baits with the time of day but they still bite

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you’re absolutely right! I should have clarified that in the video. I catch tons of bass in the middle of the day too, but in the heat of the summer I have more luck in the morning and evening

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It absolutely will! It might be a little tricky if you hook into a 10+ pounder, but for most snakes it’ll work just fine 👍

    I mean snakeheads are invasive so why do you let them go (no offense) and what type of leader can I use for maximum action on my lures?

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for asking! We release them for a couple reasons. First off, they’ve been in our area for 20 years and the places that they’re in don’t appear to be negatively impacted. Secondly, they’re a ton of fun to catch, and the average snakehead is around five pounds. It’s a lot easier now to catch big fish (they can get up to around 15 pounds). When we catch and release, it gives us and other people a chance to catch monster fish. As far as using a leader, you could use fluorocarbon, or just a heavier piece of braid. The action on your lures will be good.

    • @jarodbrenneman8661
      @jarodbrenneman8661 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much, and I was wondering if you can I use 10 pound braid line and leader for them?

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jarodbrenneman8661 10 pound is too light, they’ll break right through that. Lowest I would go is 30 pound braid

    • @jarodbrenneman8661
      @jarodbrenneman8661 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Orange22Fishing all right, I use 10 pound for everything even saltwater and it work just fine but I never could fine a che spinning reel to handle 30 pound braid, do you know any cheap snakehead reel that I can use.

    • @Orange22Fishing
      @Orange22Fishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jarodbrenneman8661 the ugly stick catfish spinning combo would be a good cheap setup for snakes. I think it’s 55 bucks for the rod and the reel
