Around that time David Beard interviewed Mark Linett and Alan Boyd about the project and it goes indepth in an issue of ESQ magazine. Alan Boyd said it may have been a suggestion from Capitol to put out the comp. Regardless, it paved the way for future projects that's why I like it. It had glimpses of New Stereo Mixes for songs that would eventually be fully redone Stereo for entire albums in 2012. Then we would get MIC in 2013 then all the Copyright stuff later on.

Hope you review the new Mike Love album. He covers The Ramones Rockaway Beach! Funny story.....When I first heard Rockaway Beach by The Ramones, A Dee Jay by the name of Vin Scelsa debut it on WNEW - FM 102.7 New York. He didn't say who it was. I truly thought it was The Beach Boys with a new charged up sound. This is why I'm excited Mike Love covered it and The Beach Boys are doing it live in concert.

I prefer the original mono mixes of most of the oldies, especially "I'm So Young." Having the last three songs on this album in their works for me when I have it playing in the car and I'm singing along in my Brian Wilson falsetto. "In the Parkin' Lot," "California Girls," and "Help Me. Rhonda," great as they are, really don't fit with the theme of the album. The piano intro for "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" sounds great, and so does the long version of "Fallin' in Love (Lady)." If you want to find the shorter version of "Lady" on an album, it's on the 1981 Capitol Australia compilation "Beach Boys/Brian Wilson Rarities." Songs I would put on this album would be "I Can Hear Music" and "All I Wanna Do," as well as the Brian Wilson productions "Guess I'm Dumb" and "After the Game."

I've just entered a french contest (by a radio) to try and win this one, it just lasts for today. Fingers crossed. Somehow I'd never heard of it and I'm very intrigued by the new stereo mixes, and "Fallin' in Love" sounds so good. I want this in my collection.

Weird coincidence, I was just thinking about this version of Falling in Love on my way home from work and wanting to dig around and remember what it was. From memory it was a new edit/mix rather than a contemporary mix. But I love this song and until this came out all I had was a duff MP3 rip from a bootleg, so it was really great to have it!

Ah, this is an album I have seen reduced so many times in Britain (but with a different cover) but never got round to. Now? well I am now seriously tempted!
Whilst talking of strange title selections on Beach Boys compilation albums what about "66-69" as a weird compilation (released 1976?)
A double album with many plus points, it has among the selection (and I am not knocking any of these tracks as I love nearly all their stuff from this era) Pet Sounds. Fall Breaks and Back to Winter, Whistle in (?), How She Boogalooed it, Transcendental Mediation.
It does NOT have: God Only Knows, Heroes and Villains, Darlin' or Do it Again. In some ways it is a relief to have something different but it really was strange hearing a double disc compilation from just this period omitting these tracks in favour of the above!

I have that album (66-69). Am I right in thinking it was a French Compilation?

@@raymondgill9796 Yep. Capitol Label but Pathe Marconi EMI written on the back cover. There was a companion disc 62-65 which did not have Surfin' USA, or California Girls(!) , however it does have Car Crazy Cutie and Misirlou! So that's alright then!

I am not going to do a new comment for this video but am planing to release a new compilation of my old reviews (freshly spell checked) including some newly discovered rare opinions that have been specially edited for this release.

Too bad there aren't any new releases like this as any new discoveries are just digital now.

Dennis and Rumbo - Rumbo was a pseudonym for Daryl Dragon.

Yes but only in as much as he is talking to his new love Rhonda about how his old love let him down and is inviting Rhonda to displace her in his affections.

@@raymondgill9796 you take Rhonda as his new love? I always assumed she'd be his love for the night, or maybe the weekend. Remember, he also pulled this with Ronda ;-P

Daryl Dragon took that name from the father of Dumbo in the cartoon.
