Awesome property, this is the style of planting I enjoy personally. Enough to feed his family and neighbors while retaining a visually pleasant landscape.
Indeed. I'd have nothing in rows tho, those irregular islands are excellent and fruit trees can be arraigned that way too. Leave the rows to commercial orchards.
This is a gorgeous property! I’m just a few miles north of you on the east side…I’m planning on something similar. I’m starting to collect my trees and would love this strategic planning incorporated into my yard. Thank you for sharing, I so appreciate it!
Wow!!! this is amazing! my dream as well. BOught a 3 acres around Clewiston, FL and trying to plan out my home from scratch. To look like yours could take years and $$. I just want yours! lol thanks for sharing. WOuld love to learn more .
Well planted farm, I love Fruit trees and tropical fruits. Asian people are crazy about sugar apples. I hear that Star apple trees do not do well in Central in North FL (colder than South FL?)
People are very always saying lots of air movement is good, but that is specifically for mangos. Some species don't like that such as soursop, which you would never have to worry about fungal diseases with.
I know he wants the sun but all that open grass space allows soil-warmth to quickly be lost, wind to sweep down through to the plantings and frost to settle down on everything. The densely planted areas will be warmer.
I think the jackfruit hasn't fruited yet because he's pruning too much every year or cutting back the heavy damage from the storms. The rule of pruning is no more than 20% of a tree each year if you want it to flower and fruit. That jackfruit looks very mature by the size of the trunk.
