  • After Hours of walking to discovery the mansion NIck named MALEDICTION. A house with a dark past, No one seems to know where this family disappeared to in 2009 everything is left, from kids toys to a old rifle found in the dinning room. I felt if the walls could talk they would tell a very erie story, every room i walked into i felt a very strange feeling like something didn't want me there. Im going to try and find out what really happened here, so is the house really cursed and made the family leave.

Six years ago I lived in a small studio cottage when a flood came through and took everything we (me, daughter) owned, but our cats survived and that was enough. My consciousness about possessions and things has changed significantly since then and I'm not at all as attached to anything like before the flood. I've been watching a ton of these explorations of abandoned properties during the pandemic, and it's fascinating to see it in visual images this way...things just there, no life to them, left to decay and in the end all things are irrelevant. Looking at pots and pans, imagining kitchens filled with cooking smells and chatter, and people....when they're gone the things just linger forever. Seeing trinkets that were once upon a time probably someone's favorite thing or special gift they treasured, and it's just a thing. Anyway, just my existential pondering, out loud. lol p.s. I have worked for people (cleaning, organizing, yard work, etc) of big, beautiful homes, and so many of them have had elderly neighbors living alone in homes like this that pass away and then their home sits empty for years, and years, and years. No one ever goes in, clears it out, turns off utilities...it's so strange and surreal how often that happens. I explored a HUGE home once, and it was stunning. It had been empty for over 22 years. I would have lived there and LOVED to be a free caretaker! These places are incredible for so many reasons....

We bought a farmhouse in Kansas in the 90’s, well, we bought the 42 acres and the house and buildings were considered free because of the condition. It was built in the 30’s by the father for his family of five kids and wife. Over the years, all but one son married and moved away, then eventually it was him and Mama left there. He was pretty lazy (per his baby brother, whom we spoke with and bought the place from) and as he finished using something, he’d leave it where he finished. (When we bought it, you couldn’t see the house from the road about 50 yards away. )But, as Older Brother aged, they finally went one day, packed a bag, put a padlock on the door and took him to another state. We cleared and cleaned the house and yard, finding rusted farm equipment with 20+ year old trees growing through them.
There was food in the cupboards, clothes in the closets, pictures on the walls.
As we tossed moldy clothes (before we knew to wear masks), found a handmade quilt Mama had sewn by hand. I took it home and asked it, then gave it to them to pass on to a grandchild. I would have loved to keep it, but it was rightfully theirs despite us buying as is. There were few things we could save for them.
We cleaned the place, threw temporary carpets down, and moved in since our house in town sold weeks after we listed it and hadn’t officially closed on this purchase.
As my husband removed the coal burning furnace parts, he found rat carcasses that were literally bigger than our cat now. I had placed opened packages f rat poison around the house before we began clearing it out, and six large packets or poison would be gone in days. Then, I’d noticed the droppings were turning green from poison. They’d eat small amounts until they could eat it without quickly dying.
The boxes of cereal and crackers in the cupboards were untouched by the rats.
We lived there for six months and had to move before we could begin remodeling because the dust and environment as so hard on my two young sons, my six year old ended up with Ryes Syndrome as a complication from severe allergies, which had lead to pneumonia...After a week in ICU, he pulled through and we began the process of finding a better house.
People were so eager to move to that area, as we moved out, we had a renter moving in. Eventually, after we cleaned up the area, we divided the property and sod it in two parts (same family bought both parts) and doubled our money.
After six months of “indoor camping with a flush toilet” we moved to a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house and felt like we were living a castle! 😂

I hope your son has fully recovered now. Sounds like clearing the house was a nightmare. God bless you for your thoughtfulness with the quilt.

It honestly will always be a mystery as to "Why" these families just up and abandon their castles? Regardless of the size from mobile homes to mansions. Everyone of us rich or poor, our homes are our castles! And these abandoned homes will more than likely always remain a mystery as to "Why". Mysteries that we all wish we had the capabilities to unlock.

at 29.46 there is a little ," sink" he called it. Its actually a catholic water bowl for confessions. Weird it's in their house.

Those small 'water places' were very common in 17 en 18th-century canal houses in Amsterdam. Especially in hallways and attics.
I am pretty sure this is such a thing and not a catholic water bowl for confessions.

I thought it too might be a catholic vessel for holy water - but for making the sign of the cross. Never heard it for confessions. :)

I remember my mom being an Avon Lady back in the later 60s. I have her blue fabric case she carried her products in door to door, a bunch of cologne and perfume decanters and about a hundred little tiny lipstick samples.

Thaaaank you for all your videos, you're a window to places in the world we may never otherwise see! ❤❤❤
Those kitchen doors are spectacular and I love the cubby holes in the basement and the shells all over! Back in WWII, my Dad made lamps from shells, a bank from a grenade and a vase from a shell!
I have an Avon train cologne bottle I bought my Dad, he loved trains!
The books always break my heart. When I see books rotting away I want to go and rescue them! I love my library!
