  • You do need to get as much air as possible out for storage. Make sure its as dry as possible before packing it away. This works for me. Watch how to set it up: • How to:Inflate & setup... .

Thank you. I just went for my first kayak ride today and LOVED it. But I guess I tightened my valves too tight because I couldn't open them to let the air out. Thankfully a kind young man came over to help and he was able to open them. Neither of us could get the fin out though, so I just had to put the kayak in my car without putting it in the bag.

Here is the secret to opening the 'stuck' valve. When you are turning the top cap of the valve counter-clockwise to open it, do not lift it off when it loosens. Instead, continue to turn it more forcefully counter-clockwise and it will function like a wrench to open the bottom valve. It will seem at first to not be turning. Keep at it. Bingo! It's opening. Very clever system.

I found it's easier and quicker to deflate the seat and green pad by inserting one of the small tips attached to the pump to hold the valve open while rolling the air out, instead of squeezing the valve with one hand. Otherwise, this is a very very helpful video, that I wish I'd found before my first few repackings, trying different ways each time. I too found that rolling it up with the top to the outside worked best.

Thank you. One video suggested to put each of the two rings that come with the kayak into the open valve areas to prevent the valves from closing while deflating.

If it works then why not. I suspect that in time the cardboard tube will perish.

I just got one of these. Take it down the canals. Such a faff trying to put it back in the bag after a trip, specially when the grounds wet & leafy. Easier to throw it on top on the car and take it home to do it in my case. hah!

Anyone had any problems with the Boston valve 1? I don't know if I over tightened it or if I over inflated that part but it seems impossible to undo and 3 of us have tried. any idea's would be appreciated

I’m having that problem right now. Maybe I won’t put it on so tight next time. But I’m standing here with an inflated kayak I can’t deflate and a storm front moving in.

@@sstills951 I sent mine back and got a full refund but depends on how long you have had it i guess. It's obviously a flaw in the design so under sale of goods act you are entitled to a refund if goods aren't fit for purpose.

Perhaps it got cross-threaded when you tightened? I find my new one is more difficult to loosen than my old one. I had to use pliers the first time. Now I don't tighten quite so much.

@@mingy4730i use a mop when i get home to get the most moisture out at the far ends…. Then a micro cloth for anything i can easily reach…
I also find, drying it right after kayaking while still inflated is easiest…. Just have to have a mop in the car…. Looks ridiculous but works for my short arms!!
