i flew on an a320 in July and visted the flight deck after the flight and the first thing the captain said to me is "much better cockpit then a boeing" XD
Fantastic, this captain should be head of sales of Airbus. Great explanation of the systems and nice comparisons. Nineteen minutes really flew by like a rocket.
My friend was a pilot for Monarch flying the A320/A321.....he then moved onto British Airways flying the 747. He sadly passed away last year at 36 years of age. It was as if I was listening to him when the captain here is talking....he always used to say the Airbus with its space, tray table etc and having no yoke was a much nicer environment to fly in....RIP
I (a passenger) flew just once in a 340 and had a feeling that it is a trrible plane. I asled myself how pilots are not afaid to fly this plane. But this friendly captain, with his confidence in the aircraft and eye-opening explanations, has changed the picture completely.
What on Earth caused you to think that the A340 is somehow inherently dangerous? Most of the aircraft that the A340 competes with are 2 engined, versus the 4 engines (777, 787, 767). 4 Engines will always be statistically safer than 2 engines.
Thank you so much for the beautiful invitation dated 22-09-2020 @ 3pm I wonder what exciting adventure you taking us to this time all aboard and looking forward to it thank you so much Just Planes stay safe fly safe land safe keep well happy and healthy
Fantastic video, awesome pilot! A340 is like the middle child in the Airbus fleet, good to hear some +ve facts about her especially as she will be retired soon.
I'm a fan of the A340-300 and 600 but I'm not a sidestick fan. It is definitely not a quick climbing aircraft but it's a great looking aircraft. I love the early 707's 727 737's . I'm awestruck at the 777-300ER it's an enormous and very well built aircraft. Great video thank you your videos never disappoint 👍 👌
@@droge192one big thing (which can be changed but airbus doesn't do it) is that the two pilots joysticks neither give you feedback of what the surfaces do, nor they are interconnected, so the copilot inputs are mirrored to the pilots joystick.
The biggest & newest version of the 777 is one beautiful jet. People have their preferences & there's things I like about A350s but the 777/300 is symetricly perfect, even w/ those huge motors!
Nice perspective. I've only flown Boeings and Douglases, so I'd love to fly a modern Airbus before my career is done. The 767 is a brilliant machine IMO.
Favourite plane! Had the privilege to work as a crew on the 330/340-300 family for the past year 😍 unfortunately it’s on its way out of the fleet bc of COVID a true cruise plane 😇
Thank you for a great video, very informative. I've always loved the A340, beautiful plane and one of the safest! The crews also always seem to like the A340
The sales of the A340 were killed off by the success of the Boeing 777-300ER. Nevertheless, the Airbus is still a great aircraft. Thanks Captain for the video
Thanks for uploading a great video! I did not realize the difference in climbing performance between 747 and A340. Is there anyone who knows more about this?? I was so surprised to know A340 can reach high altitudes without losing fuel efficiency.
Awesome Cockpit presentation and I enjoy listening to this Captain go over why he loves this aircraft. When you hear them go into great detail and even points it out, you do learn a lot from it. Awesome pilot and an awesome video, I love it.
omg, I wish I knew this captain he is very knowledgeable but also very funny...when he was talking about the tray, eating civilized on Airbus vs. Boeing eating on the knees, I lost my chicklet😂. yes and he's right too many "kha-boys" out there flying not right. Perfect video❤
Thank you for all that info. For me it is nice to know, not must know. First time I flew the A-340 was LH from ATL-FRA in may 1994. I like the 340! In the meantime I have been working for SAS. The last time I flew the A-340 was in apr of 2010, FRA-RUH-DOH also LH. Great time in DOH. On the way back the LH flight was overbooked, so QR to the rescue! A A-330 via ARN, and SK to OSL. After landing at OSL they told us that all European airspace was closed due to a huge ash cloud from Island! Talk about luck... The airspace over Europe was closed for how long? Two weeks?
i love Boeing i like the cockpit designs and the yoke vs the joystick, i like the yoke for a large plane,, to me the joystick is better for smaller planes, but that being said, yeah the airbus is a nice plane, they are safe and efficient as hell
The size of the plane is not relevent to the use of a sidestick. The sidestick is used because it was found to be the best user interface on an aircraft with fly by wire control surface actuation.
Sounded like he was describing a VC10 a British designed and built airliner of the 1960/70s that was fast, quiet and comfortable only BOAC were in love with boeing
I love Airbus because of the sidestick which I prefer over a yoke but I don’t have any issues flying both. No hate on Boeing, I love being planes too, particularly the 747 and 787 for sure.
"boeing's a climb plane and 340 is a cruise plane, that's why its so efficient" yeah, I guess that's why the 340s are getting removed and 777s keep flying, airlines hates efficient planes :)
I don't know about being compared to the latest Boeings but if you want a lighter workload, uncluttered cockpit, space, and a table then Airbus is the plane. From the beginning, the top engineer designed the planes to eliminate the "monkey business" of piloting the plane. Computers and fly by wire from day one. It took Boeing decades to modernize systems.
747 might have something to say about that, its been around since 69 & will likely be used for transport another 40 yrs. I'd say that's pretty successful.
@@richardmorris7063 The 747 is legendary and beautiful no doubt. The A340 never crashed and nobody died inside that model since 1991. The cockpit was/is also more modern ( expample: flybywire…)than any Boeing of the same Production date.
The Americans have been causing obstructions for Airbus since the company was first founded. The fact that a new twin jet, that required the max ETOPS limit from the outset, was accepted through certification, before a 4-engined non-ETOPS plane, despite the 777 project not even beginning until 2 years after the A340 project began. The FAA made up every possible obstruction (even the use of the sidestick, despite the A320 being certified almost 7 years before the A340; ie. the sidestick was not a new concept). All politics and government inteference in open competition. These days, Airbus sell 2.5 aircraft to every single Boeing that is sold.
hmmm... I dont know about comparing the 340, especially the -300 with the 747. The 47 can carry a LOT more people/cargo. So I am not understanding his analogy. Also, he didnt explain why the 747 cant reach optimum altitude, he just says it cant. I have never heard that before. How is it an underpowered plain like the 340 can reach it, but a 747 cant??it just doesnt make sense.
on the newer 747-8 at MTOW it can reach 310 to 330 with ease, even at around 80% load it can climb initially to 350-360 so his analogy is just bragging off about the A340
@@ffllcchh Ya, thats what I am thinking too. If he had compared it to the 777, I could understand, butthe 340 and 47 are totally different birds. I flew for the 1st time with Gulf Air an A340-300 in 95 from Abu Dhabi to Larnaca. It was an amazing plane. Literally felt an entire city was lifting off. I never imagined listening to an airbus pilot in a cockpit joining the boeing vs airbus debate 😂😂😂 good stuff.
It‘s actually a nonsense debate. Both build beautiful planes such as Embraer or any other decent manufacturer does.

Interesting tutorial. Thank you for taking the time to show us the beautiful A340!
Very well explained and funny Captain. Had the pleasure to fly Lufthansa A340 cross the pond a couple of times back in the days.
This guy is brilliant. 😂 Hope I get to fly on a 340 some time before they retire them all!
That's a nice informative video from a pilot who surely appreciates Airbus. Well done
The A340 remains my fav Airbus aircraft. I'm gonna miss them. Great vid.

Lucky to have flown the A340-600 with Iberia
I have always wanted to fly on an A340. I love the A340 and A380 and it is such a shame I haven't gotten to fly on either so far.
I am a big Boeing fan. I do like the A330 & A321
Just had an Airbus A340-313 Lufthansa Star Alliance pass over me here in Maine. Frankfurt to San Jose.
I didn't understand why an a340 can reach 39.000 ft directly and not a 747? Is it because engines overheat?
