I got this streaming unit as a choice between it and a roku. What I like about it is the fact that you don't have to register on a computer to get it up and running. Its sleek, compact and very easy to set up. I love it!

Since the update i haven't been able to setup airel screensaver to start after a certain amount of time of inactivity. Only option is ambient mode which allows you to use Google photos. Do you know a fix?
Do you know if there is a way to prevent or block automatic updates to the Android OS? It seems that when the OS is updated and the ONN4k restarted, it loses the ability to connect to ethernet and loses or trashes the connection to my USB memory stick. The only way to restore that is to do a factory reset and avoid the system UPDATE button. THen I can once again connect to the internet via ethernet but still have to reinstall apps and re-format the USB memory stick. Any ideas on this? Thanks.
For all you plug and players who have subs to Netflix etc etc .... its just perfect. I think it has less RAM/ROM than a Firestick so it won't house many apps before it tops out. But for kids who just want to watch movies or cartoons ..... knock yourself out !
You can add ip to 64gb flashdrive to it with a OTG cable, for added memory for apps. I have the Onn 4k Streaming device, and had no problems adding memory to it. Sandisk is a good brand of memory to use, in my opinion.
I've had mine for going on 3 days, the first 2 days it was doing fine. My roommates have the Roku Express. The Roku that they usually keep in the living room usually drops it's connection from the Internet and after that won't work till hrs later(when it feels like it) They say that they don't know why that always happens, and that it's always and only that specific one that does that. I've been meaning to get a Roku for my bedroom, but when I saw the Onn streaming device at Walmart, I went ahead and got it. The setup was quite quick and easy. Now on the 3rd day of having it, it dropped its connection from our home's WiFi, then I hear this weird annoying ringing static noise. I turn it off and turn it back on, that seemed to have fixed it temporarily, but then about 15 minutes later it does it again, but now it doesn't even want to connect to the wifi. I went into settings to switch the Internet back to on, since it was off, but it won't stay on, it keeps switching back off. Automatically

It is top notch! 1/2 the price of a Google 4k chrome cast. Easy set up & sync. The remote has compatibility with my TV, which has always been an issue for my old TV.
I have 2 of these and for $20.00 dollars I think they are decent enough. If you want better of course you have to pay more money for the device. It is a good enough device for the average consumer. 😊
Doesn't have support for Dolby Vision and DTS X I believe Which isn't a problem for most people unless you have a nice surround sound setup you probably aren't using a $20 streaming device anyway

I used to be able to use airel screensaver to activate at a certain time after inactivity however after the update I can only open it manually. It no longer has the screensaver option in settings to customize it but now there only is the ambient option which is the setup for Google photos. Have you had this experience with airel screensaver?

Brother, please tell me what apps you use cause I’ve been trying to find Puerto Rico tv apps and the only thing I have gotten is Telemundo on a web browser to work. Nothing else shows live tv. I have a VPN with a PR server and it doesn’t make a difference.
Works much better than my crappy Fire TV devices. My only complaint is all the garbage on the home screen. So much crap that it lags the device and the screen is so cluttered that it's hard to find what you're looking for. Much prefer the clean interface on my Roku Ultra.

I was excited to try it. Just wasn't for me. The device wouldn't detect my USB without formatting (I wasn't willing to erase and replace everything), and Tennis Channel isn't available on Android. It's fine for people who don't care about those things and other issues.

The cheapest Roku doesn't allow 5G. TH-cam is native on Google and Onn streaming devices. Not their Roku TVs. TVs with Google streaming service apparently never have Google Play's streaming version. I'd rather have more HDMI ports on a TV than a comically limited and hobbled streaming chip. My Vizio D-24's lAndeous streaming chip has neither GP nor 5G. Any time I need to change networks, password authentication is also required. Amazon's content allows a few extras with their devices. The only feature that might move me towards pricey streaming devices is an ethernet port
I just fot a Roku 4k stick to replace my firestick 4k which I feel is laggy, but the roku wouldnt work with my soundbar and wouldnt let me use my samsung smart remote, like the firestick did. Also i like having the browser on the firestick, which roku also didnt have. Wonder if you can get a browser on this? If it does and works with my remotes and my soundbar that would be great. If not my next option is to shell out for apple tv and try that out. Id anyone knows answers to my questions I would appreciate it 👍

Anybody have trouble with channels losing audio? I'll be watching a show, then change the channel and the next channel has no audio. If I flip back and forth to the channel I want, the audio will finally start playing. Same thing happens with movies or any content. Other than the audio, it's a cool box for $20. Yes, I'm running the latest updates.

I can't say for sure, but I'd guess we were both inspired by the "Stay Thirsty, My Friends" ad campaign that was big around the time we both started our channels lol. It's 100% possible that I lifted it from him though, I've been a fan for years and genuinely can't remember why I started saying it. I think it started on the podcast I did with my wife that predates this channel actually 🤔
I think you're safe since you first started using your outro a few months before him. At least that's what a few minutes of searching the history of your channels provides.
I got this to replace the built in Roku on my TV lol. Clunky UI, also filled with ads, but their ads are for really low end content I'll never be interested in. To each their own though!
The problem with this device is that it lags when it comes to changing channels, that’s why you have audio issues. Also, the Wi-Fi performance on this device is crap compared to the Apple TV, which is the one that I’m using currently because I’m never going back to those crappy, Walmart TV boxes you get what you pay for 👀
What app are you changing channels in that's lagging? Might be useful info to people. I've not had any issues with Wi-Fi, but I also have a very high end router set-up. I've used this cheap box probably every other day since posting this and continue to be happy with it. I'm sure an Apple TV has advantages, but it's also like 6 times more expensive lol. It ought to.
@@shanecraigtech I use Pluto TV a lot and sling TV both of them run like crap on the Roku TV & on the Walmart TV box and on the Amazon fire stick TV I have use all of them in the past and I don’t like them even my brand new TV doesn’t even run Pluto TV correctly having audio issues connected directly to the router without Wi-Fi. The last device that I had was the Google TV which it was great at the beginning but then it started to slow down and overheat so I decided you know what I’m gonna spend $99 on the Apple TV and see how it performs and ever since I never looked back on those cheap devices for streaming TV. This is my experience. The problem with the cheap devices is that over a period of a few years they start to slow down right now my smart TV is useless for Pluto TV with the lag and audio issues. These issues are not present on the Apple TV. I have the $99 model. That’s the cheapest I could get for Apple and is not bad. my other family members have inherited my old TV streaming devices they did not go to waste. 😏. I did like your review on the 4K Walmart TV box at least it looks like they made it faster than the other one that I used to have.👍

All you need is an HDMI port on your TV. I'm sure there's a web browser app, but there's not one built in ready for you to browse the web.

The tv button is for Google live tv. It appears when you use a VPN because I live in Puerto Rico.

You can enable app only mode in settings and all those suggestions will disappear.

You can't remove them from the home screen during setup. I didn't say a subscription was required.

What app are you changing channels in that's lagging? Might be useful info to people. I've not had any issues with Wi-Fi, but I also have a very high end router set-up. I've used this cheap box probably every other day since posting this and continue to be happy with it. I'm sure an Apple TV has advantages, but it's also like 6 times more expensive lol. It ought to.
@@shanecraigtech I use Pluto TV a lot and sling TV both of them run like crap on the Roku TV & on the Walmart TV box and on the Amazon fire stick TV I have use all of them in the past and I don’t like them even my brand new TV doesn’t even run Pluto TV correctly having audio issues connected directly to the router without Wi-Fi. The last device that I had was the Google TV which it was great at the beginning but then it started to slow down and overheat so I decided you know what I’m gonna spend $99 on the Apple TV and see how it performs and ever since I never looked back on those cheap devices for streaming TV. This is my experience. The problem with the cheap devices is that over a period of a few years they start to slow down right now my smart TV is useless for Pluto TV with the lag and audio issues. These issues are not present on the Apple TV. I have the $99 model. That’s the cheapest I could get for Apple and is not bad. my other family members have inherited my old TV streaming devices they did not go to waste. 😏. I did like your review on the 4K Walmart TV box at least it looks like they made it faster than the other one that I used to have.👍

This one has been out for about a year, the version you're talking about came with Android TV.
Its sucks. Kept havn to reset it. Literally u get what u pay. POS device.
Used daily, no resets for me
This product is garbage. It gets hot after a while and when it does it shuts off.
Been using it every day for the last week or so, this has never happened.
Could always modify it a bit by drilling a few holes in it
